The client s initially built a Barndominium to accommodate their RV on the lot. However, as they decided to settle in Bandera, TX, they wanted to add a house to the property. The challenge was visually blending both structures.

We adopted a "3 siblings" concept, with the Barndominium as the "Big Brother" and replicating its shape in the second story of the house. The smaller sibling houses private spaces like the office, laundry room,

and master bedroom. The middle sibling incorporates guest bedrooms and seamlessly extends into the living area and a spacious outdoor space.

The house maximizes its scenic surroundings, with a north-facing orientation providing panoramic views of the beautiful Hill County landscape. Careful consideration was given to the southern facade, prioritizing privacy and protection from the intense southern Texas heat.

The compoun d's design required careful consideration of multiple units to ensure financial viability, all while adhering to the local building code and zoning regulations regarding offsets and height limits. Given the irregular shape of the site, two towers—one in an "L" shape and another in an "I" shape—were strategically positioned, albeit misaligned. Balancing their varying scales posed a challenge in achieving a cohesive architectural aesthetic. However, an innovative approach involving projected floor slabs and diverse materials resolved this issue.

In accordance with the guidelines set by the "Casa Verde e Amarela" program, the project aligns with the Brazilian Government's objective of making housing affordable for low-income and firsttime buyers by offering subsidized low-interest rates. Notably, the majority of units feature flexible balcony layouts, enabling residents to enclose them and create additional heated living areas. This ingenious design feature allows smaller units to expand their living spaces and optimize floor utilization.

How to Give Both Towers the Same Architectural Language?

The Music School is an exploration of how space for music learning can be more interactive while articulating with its community.

The Music School works with its surroundings by respecting its scale and offering a direct social interaction. It also gives a new language approach in a hutong. It respects its color palette and materials; at the same time, it

proposes a contemporary approach that can potentially improve the life of the local community.

G athering spaces, Music Rooms, and Performance spaces are proposed in a way where they articulate the school as a community and the school and the urban context in unison.

Close to Beijing, the village is on the route to the Winter Olympics Games’ site. The redevelopment seeks to bring a new source of income for the villagers and increase their quality of life. It also shows a new perspective to the rural life in China, and how small villagers can adapt to the new era while keeping its local culture. The project is dived in three sections: Bridge+Quarry, Main Street, and Homestay.

In the downtown area of Curitiba, the Chinese Cultural Center works as a connection between the two emerging economies. The existing Chinese population in Brazil can have a place to showcase their culture and tighten their relations as a community. The building is split into two main levels and two buildings connected by a courtyard with two separate entrances. The Southern section holds the exposition spaces, while the Northern one has the administration and restaurant areas.

The Masterplan for Pôr-do-Sol focuses on human interaction for new planning and urban design. Therefore, mobility, building typologies, and free spaces must meet the basic needs of the residents for a diverse and accessible city.

The proposal is an urban environment that fosters transformational and sustainable development to a lower income population in the metropolitan region of the country’s capital city.

Guidelines

a. Supply the local demand for open public spaces, with good urban equipment that promotes socialization, leisure, and sports activities.

b. Consolidate a mobility system that prioritize pedestrians and nonmotorized commuting, and their connection with public transportation

c. Distribute collective spaces of different types and scales, whether public or private, that allow greater urban vitality.

d. Propose a diverse landscape through different architectural typologies and their relations with the public space.

e. Transform the new housing sector into an “urban front”, generating a buffer zone between urban space and the protected wildlife.
