BASIC INFORMATIONS, GOALS

On dates 8.-10th of July AIESEC Slovakia attended the biggest music festival in SlovakiaBažant Pohoda 2010. Bažant Pohoda 2010 numbers:

      

30000 people per day 600 printed flyers 350 people approached 250 distributed flyers 40 contacts 2 applicants for internship 4 AIESEC representatives

Main goal:

 Promotion of AIESEC in Slovakia.  Promote the short term internship- DT- Russia, India, Thailand, Hungary, GermanyDT.  Get in touch with NGOs for DT initiatives on ICX side.

ICX GOAL: Approach 38 NGOS that were present in the festival for the NGO Development Initiative and have later follow ups. Material: 38 NGO development presentations (4 pages each) Methodology: Approach NGOs face to face on Thursday (last day before the festival starts officially) and sell the initiative. The main goal of this selling is to have follow up in the contacts. The MC makes the first approach and the next step is to pass the contact for the responsible LC to take the negotiations further. Approached NGOs: BA MC CU BA MC CU

Approached almost 100% of the NGOs: 

There were some NGOs that were not there since the beginning of the event which made pour work a bit more difficult.

Some of the NGOs clearly didn’t had any capacity of receiving a trainee, in reason:

1- Location (isolated from the any LC)

2- NGOs that provide only assistance and not any social projects (potential for creating another project together with AIESEC but not to take part in the initiative) 3- NGOs that had no financial capacity of having an intern (this approach was before Microsoft Partnership) 4- Didn’t have the right person to speak with in the festival (just volunteers that had no bigger involvement in the NGO)

Follow ups: 

Done with 15 NGOs with high potential for the Initiative as it is now:

The follow up consists in sending a standard email to the NGOs and pass to the LCs for schedule meetings. NEXT STEPS: 

Pass the contact to the responsible LC and go further with the contact and negotiations.

Conclusion In my opinion the event in the ICX it was worth for two main reasons: 

NETWORKING

Potential TN takers and other cooperation possibilities

OGX

Main obstacles:  Participants of festival were not interested to search for internships. Their aim was to collect info or shorten the time during the pauses between the concerts.  70% of approached people in English didn’t stop by stand. They were scared of English approach.  There was passive way of approaching people- interaction was missingindividual games, competitions, etc.  Internet connection not working- people could sign up straight away to database.  There is a need to have more representatives from AIESEC Slovakia (1 MC member, 5 LC members from different LCs).

Suggestions for next year:  I recommend using Pohoda more for general promotion. As on Pohoda there are all target groups that AIESEC is working with, the campaign/ promotion should be created as for students- internships so for high school studentspotential members and for companies as our main TN taker or partner.  We should promote that AIESEC is going to be part of Pohoda NGO village before Pohoda through our channels.  We should have prepared some interactive games for individuals and groups, competitions and so on, to get people attention before other NGO does.  Doesn’t take 4 MC members’ there- give the opportunity to LC members from each LC- the best of the bests?  If we want to have foreign people than we need to send more Slovak ones. But if we can have only 4 people then it is enough to have 1 foreigner. Or rather repay half of the price for more people.  I recommend to have more promo materials not only flyers, but also e.g. candies, stickers that we could give for free when they sign up for internship or membership. General comments: It is good to be part of this kind of event, but we cannot expect huge outcomes from that because participants are looking there for fun. So we need to adapt our activities on festival directly to these events. As we have the national driver Building up our name, I think this is also the way how to approach big scale of young people at one place and one time.

Channels & application Foundation Pontis was final responsible for choosing 40 NGOs on festival Pohoda 2010.
