UNEARTH | ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE
Location: 164 Langside Street

For this studio, the hypothetical scenario is that an important building at 164 Langside Street has been purchased by the West Broadway Neighbourhood Society (WBNS --a fake society).
The WBNS purchased the building with the intent of creating an “artist-in-residence” program where by living quarters, a studio, and a gallery would be provided to a long list of artists for either a six month or year-long term.
The interior design will be a Mid Century Modern style to reflect the neighbourhood concept of old and new. The space will have pops of colour to compliment the natural wood elements. It will generally be symmetric to give a sense a familiarity and comfort.

The conceptual design challenge will be centred on a conceptual understanding and expression of the poem or poetry as outlined in Oliver’s book A Poetry Handbook.
Salutations, an open library will be based on the concept of the narrative poem and turning the line technique.
The pause helps sequential events to be more enjoyable. The design will flow like a narrative poem where it does not follow a strict format. It will instead follow an easy pace that aid in the curiosity of the visitor and keeps them interested. By turning the line in a free verse poem, it creates a moment of pause and invites the reader’s curiosity.

NAVIGATE | THE FOREST SCHOOL
Location: 125 Dysart Road
Year: 2022
This project aims to connect interior and exterior spaces to provide a fluid experience for a sustainable education. Users will be given an opportunity to experience the relationship between the natural and the built environments and all the spaces in between by utilizing all of their physical senses.
In the current study, students will be involved in redesigning the interior spaces of the Wallace Building on the University of Manitoba Fort Garry campus. The primary goal is to design a forest school that reflects the local culture, environment, and history.

PROPOSAL
The Red River interrupts the rectilinear grid of Winnipeg and serves as a reminder of the natural versus the built environment. Inspired by the city finding ways to navigate through these bends, the layout of the school molds into these curves.

MAKE SENSE | NATURE & NORDIC CENTRE
Location: 339 Waterfront Drive

This studio aims to create an Interpretive Nature Centre & Nordic Recreational Facility at Cibo Waterfront Café, located at 339 Waterfront Dr in Winnipeg, Manitoba. This centre will operate throughout all seasons to connect with Winnipeg’s Unique Weather.
The center will create phenomenological experiences of Manitoba’s seasonal environments by involving the five senses through hands-on workshops and spaces.

FORKS LOUNGE | RENOVATION
Location: 1 Forks Market Rd
Year: 2023
The lively and wonderfully diverse food hall at The Forks Market showcases the finest local delicacies on the main floor, while the second floor boasts an array of exceptional local crafts and retail choices. Formerly used as horse stables and haylofts during the peak of the railway era, The Forks Market has transformed into its present-day incarnation.
Tucked in a corner, this lounge space is located on the second floor. The client requested the design to be more intentional with an atmosphere to fit the Forks Market overall design.
This new design creates flexible furnishings to accommodate individuals and small groups as well as provide workshop space to accommodate groups from 10 to 100.
