TIKAS PAHINGA: MARAWI MEMORIAL MONUMENT 01

Project Brief

The project aims to give commemoration to the fallen soldiers of marawi and embed their heroic deeds. “Tikas pahinga” , derived from the military command which orders one soldier to parade rest, is a memorial for the battle of marawi will translate the soldiers glorious death into form and space.

The concept aims to commemorate the stand that each soldier did for the country. The translation of the different emotions one may experience in battle is the foundation of the whole design that the memorial will be based on. A memorial that will focus on the deep emotional battle will be the outcome when space and form translates emotion

Workflow: AutoCAD-Sketchup-Vray-Photoshop

Project Brief

Located at Bonifacio Global City, The project aims to design a museum that will highlight the place by being an art itself, provide innovations in delivering and housing various modern art, and showcase the modernity of the structure.

The design process started through modelling from 1 modular shape until the form of the museum is seen. It is then further enhanced to fit various museum spaces such as the exhibition and BOH spaces. Lastly the final form is achieved to show what 1 shape module can create.

REIMAGINING INTRAMUROS

Design Team:

Eduarte, Mary Philline

Kaur, Ramanveer

Ty, Karlson Spencer

Project Brief

The project is a redesign of a currently built structure in Intramuros that does not compliment the overall architectural character of the area. The chosen structure is the First Intramuros BF Condominium, situated at Soriano Avenue, Intramuros. The current architectural character of the structure alienates itself from the Spanish Colonial character Intramuros is known for. It features monotonous aesthetic common in more modern styles that does not relate to the character of Intramuros.

Workflow: AutoCAD-Sketchup-Vray-Photoshop 05 OLD BUILDING FACADE

Project Approach

The design intervention focuses on various Spanish Colonial Style found all throughout the area. Balconies were furnished with ornate balustrades and are accessed through tall fenestrations. Walls were decorated with rich orante mouldings. The ground floor was designed to have a stronger character with masnory walls and arched windows and doors. Through these added features the designers believe the building could relate more to the surrounding structure and preserve the character of Intramuros

Project Brief

EDSA 2030 is a project that would focus on developing the whole stretch of EDSA as a linear park with the integration of an underground road system and developed transit system such as the Bus Rapid Transit and Subway Transit.

The assigned EDSA intersection to the team is located at Ayala, Makati. The Ayala Creative Community Hub is a place where strong connections are built within the community and where the people are free to reflect, learn, converse, and generate ideas. The design of the structure features the concept of Free Flowing Ideas that reflects the creative process present in beaing a catalyst of innovation.

CONTAINER HOUSES

Project Brief

In today’s building industry the practice of sustainability has been on the rise to prevent the exhaustion of resources used as building materials. Container Houses are residential projects that are mainly designed with the use of shipping containers as the building block of the structure. By treating used shipping containers, these blocks of steel are capable of providing the basic need of housing. Each container can be configured from a simple 1 box residential to a more complex interconnected design.

Project Contribution

• Made conceptual designs for various container configurations

• Computed and presented a project construction cost based on the design

• Introduced new configuration for building and connecting multiple container units

• Worked on 3d models and renderings for client presentations and meetings

• Worked on technical drawings for the project.

Project Brief

The EMERGE Malabon is a flood-resilient housing development that offers low-cost yet effective solutions to the flood-prone Brgy. Longos, and introduces a new community into the area seamlessly. Each unit maximizes efficiency through carefully planned areas and space saving furniture.

The design introduces shared spaces where negihbors interact and socialize similar to an elevated street space. Strategically located at the center of all living clusters encouraging each microcommunity to converge at its core. Concentrated on communal living, housing architecture must provide cost-efficiency without sacrificing personal growth catalyzed by social interaction.

Project Contribution

• Researched relevant case studies and laws that will help in the overall concept of the project

• Worked in the horizontal and vertical planning of the spaces and form of the structure

• Conceptualized the structural system that may be used in the project with the intent of introducing innovation in a flood prone area

TECHNOLOGY MUSEUM ON SUSTAINABLE DESIGN

Workflow: AutoCAD-Sketchup-Vray-Lumion-Photoshop

The building industry is one of the sectors that is responsible for the global ginal energy use and global carbon dioxide emissions. with the increasing energy demand and continious negative impacts to the environments, green building rating systems are introduced worldwide to help in the control of uncontrolled building developments.

In the philppines, the main proponent of the country’s rating system is the Philippine green building council with “BERDE”as their rating.

The proposed project of the Technology Museum has a goal of promoting and showcasing the practice of green building design not only to professionals in the field but also with the general public based on BERDE standards for the building construction industry

17

In order for a design to be good, it needs to solve how it will lessen its negative impact to the environment through the application of various technologies that are centered in the aspects building efficiency, sustainability, and being smart hence being considered green. but in order to have a great design, the architect must take into considerations all the aspects that will integrate the people and culture with the environmental aspect and producing and integrated and resposible design

Concept

The concept of being considerate focuses on being careful not to cause inconvenience. The idea of designing a structure that will focus on how the building will impact the people and the environment. The application of considerate building design will tackle how various building technologies affect the environmental quality of the structure and how will it affect the general users. In order to successfully integrate the concept into design and solution, the project will require commitment to focus on appearance, community and environment.

Objectives

To design a museum that will provide spaces that give users various knowledge on the sustainable design through the exhibition of the structure itself;

To design a facility that will test the effectiveness of building technologies, form, and components; and

To design a facility that will embody the various eco-responsive strategies in the industry.

TECHNOLOGY MUSEUM ON SUSTAINABLE DESIGN

The museum features 9 exhibition spaces, 1 central courtyard, 1 lecture auditorium, office spaces, and BOH spaces. The exhibition spaces are divided according to varous sustainable topic. These are topics about utilities, modularity, materials, aerodynamics, recycling, climate, light, facade treatmments, and advance technologies.

Each exhibition space features immersive experience in order to educate the visitors of certain effects of building materials and design to the overall environmental condition that surrounds the user.

CONCEPTUAL RENDERS

Project Brief Architecture is a unique amalgamation of the nunances of the art world and the pragmatism of the real world: therefore, it has the power to not only capture people’s imaginations, but also to strongly influence their lives.

23

CONCEPTUAL RENDERS

Project Approach:

Alternate Realities is an architectural response to an issue that the world is facing - climate change, pandemics, biological warfarem nuvlear proliferation, social inequality, etc. A visual commentary where the architectural response falls anywhere on the Utopia-Dystopia spectrum.
