I hope everyone’s summer is off to a great start! Here at the Club, our summer season has been in full swing. After a dry stretch, Mother Nature has finally started providing some much-needed rain, and we’re seeing steady improvements on the golf course. There’s still work to be done, but we’re on the right track We completed our second summer

course closure in June, with the next one scheduled for the first full week of August. The final closure for September will give us the time we need to ensure the course is in excellent condition for your return this fall.

The Club has been bustling with activity, including reciprocal play and perhaps most notably the start of the Better Shot Program each Tuesday With over 200 kids, parents, and volunteers on site, it’s organized chaos in the best way possible. Cindy, Ryan, and Ben do an outstanding job bringing it all together. This summer kicks off planning for a very special milestone: the 30th anniversary of the Better Shot Foundation. The ABS Board has already begun early work behind the scenes, and I’m excited to share that Carolann Raub and Joe Zarba have been named co-chairs of what will be a memorable celebration and tournament

On the administrative side, this is always a busy time as we head into budgeting and the summer project season. I’ve been working closely with each department head and our Controller, Bryan, to prepare the draft versions of both the capital and operating budgets. These will be presented to the Finance Committee in July. It’s a thorough, line-by-line process with a clear focus on operating efficiently while keeping the member experience at the heart of every decision

I’m also pleased to report that we received a clean audit opinion from our outside auditors, a great reflection of the Club’s financial health and stewardship. If you have any questions about the audit or Club finances, don’t hesitate to reach out to me or Bryan.

On the project side, we’ve taken feedback from the recent annual membership survey and are prioritizing several items based on your input This includes tree planting and

removal work across your course and some clubhouse interior improvements, particularly in response to comments around ambiance and aesthetics.

In F&B, we’ve introduced a new initiative this summer: members now receive an email with their dining receipt along with a short request for feedback. This came out of a great suggestion from Mr. Grant’s House Committee, and it’s a helpful tool for us to hear directly from you about your dining experience Those emails come straight to me, so please don’t hold back I may not be able to act on every suggestion, but I can promise your thoughts are always valued and reviewed personally.

We’re close to finalizing the rough draft of next season’s golf and F&B calendars and I believe we have a great slate of events on the horizon. We’ve also worked closely with Mr. Drobnyk’s Golf Committee to adjust the calendar in a way that should open some additional tee times. This was something that came through clearly in the survey results

Before I close, I want to share a quick note of pride from your Lemon Bay family. Your Director of Agronomy, Eli, recently volunteered at the U.S. Open at Oakmont, an incredible opportunity, and a true honor in the golf world. And as many of you may have seen on TV, Lemon Bay member John Lynch, who currently serves as President of Oakmont, played a central role in this year’s U.S. Open. His leadership and involvement were instrumental in the success of the championship To see someone who we all know cares so deeply about Lemon Bay be such an amazing figure and bring that level of leadership to one of the most historic and prestigious events in golf was truly meaningful. It brought a great sense of pride to the Lemon Bay family, and we are extremely grateful to Mr. Lynch for the way he represented both Oakmont and Lemon Bay on the national stage.

Please enjoy this edition of The Eagle Speaks and know that we’re all looking forward to your return later this year As always, feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns you might have

Wishing you continued sunshine and good times this summer.

I hope this note finds you enjoying the sunshine, family time, and maybe even a few new golf courses! While many of you are spending these summer months up north, there’s still great energy here at the Club.

Behind the scenes, we’ve been busy continuing to grow and strengthen our Club community. I’m happy to share that we’re currently working with several prospective members who are making their way through the application process. It's an exciting time, and we’re grateful for the continued interest and momentum.

As a friendly reminder, don’t forget that through October 12th, members can enjoy 10% off stays at the Palm Island Resort when booked through me directly. A Legacy in Motion

Changing Lives Through Junior Golf, Mentorship, and 30 Years of Community Impact

Dear Members of Lemon Bay,

As we approach the midpoint of junior golf this summer, I’m filled with immense gratitude and pride. Already, over 200 local children have joined us for golf, fun, and life-changing lessons both on and off the course. Thanks to the unwavering support of 45+ dedicated volunteers, A Better Shot is thriving like never before.

As I grow older, this part of my role teaching and connecting with kids, growing the game, and giving back has become the most meaningful aspect of my career. But none of this would be possible without you.

You may not always see it, but you are making a difference You're giving these kids more than a game, you’re giving them hope, confidence, and a path forward. In a community where many face significant challenges, A Better Shot is a beacon of opportunity.

A Day in the Life of a Junior Golfer

Each Tuesday, our program includes:

30 minutes of life education led by local professionals: school leaders, police chiefs, first responders, bankers, and more. (No cell phones allowed just focused, engaged learning.)

1 hour of golf instruction on all aspects of the game

On-course play, tailored by age and skill level

Lunch and awards, bringing everyone together to celebrate sportsmanship

This isn’t just golf. Life education is disguised as sport and your support helps make it all possible.

Looking Ahead: Celebrating 30 Years in 2026

In 2026, A Better Shot will celebrate its 30th anniversary a powerful milestone for one of the oldest and most impactful junior golf programs in the nation.

Can you imagine the foresight of the Lemon Bay founders, who believed in our youth and built this legacy nearly three decades ago? Now, it’s our turn to carry the torch forward

How You Can Help

We’re calling on our members, friends, and supporters to make our 30th anniversary a true celebration of impact.

There are many ways to get involved:

Make a financial donation

Volunteer your time and talent

Help us spread the word in the community Whether big or small, every effort matters. A Better Shot isn’t just a junior golf program it’s a lifeline for kids who need it most.

Let’s honor the vision of our founders, the heart of our volunteers, and the dreams of every child who steps onto our course Together, we can make the 30th anniversary of A Better Shot the most impactful yet and keep changing lives, one swing at a time.

If you’d like to get involved or learn more, feel free to reach out to me directly.

Dear Lemon Bay Members,

We hope this message finds you enjoying a fantastic summer! We’re pleased to share that the golf course has made an exceptional recovery following last summer’s storm damage. Thanks to the maintenance team, along with the consistent rains and abundant sunshine, the fairways, greens, and tees are plush, vibrant, and in terrific condition The re-sodded areas have fully grown in, and the greens are rolling beautifully. If you're in town, we encourage you to come out and enjoy the outstanding course conditions!

2025-2026 Events Schedule and Planning

Behind the scenes, our team has been hard at work finalizing the 2025–2026 golf event schedule. Based on your feedback from the annual member survey, we’ve prioritized creating more open play days to ensure increased opportunities for casual rounds and member flexibility. We look forward to sharing the full schedule with you in the very near future.

In the spirit of community and junior golf, we’re proud to report that the A Better Shot Junior Golf Program is in full swing this summer. With 180–200 kids participating each Tuesday, the energy and enthusiasm have been inspiring. We’re incredibly grateful for our dedicated group of high school mentors, junior coaches, and volunteers, whose commitment makes this program so impactful. A heartfelt thank you goes out to Mary Anne Hooker, President of A Better Shot, along with Joe Zarba, Marilyn Ewing, Ron and Chrissy Lee, and so many others who generously give their time each week. A Taste of Summer

Preparations for the upcoming season are underway in the kitchen

The Food and Beverage team is hard at work this summer, preparing for an exciting season ahead. Our kitchen staff is busy developing new lunch menus and creative offerings for our upcoming special events. In addition to planning for your return this fall, the team is undergoing extensive food and kitchen safety training, an essential part of our ongoing commitment to excellence.

Our waitstaff is also taking part in training focused on food and beverage safety, while working on fresh wine pairings, updated drink

lists, and seasonal specials designed to enhance your dining experience.

Summer is also the perfect time for us to tackle the deep cleaning and equipment maintenance that’s not possible during the busier months. From top to bottom, our team is dedicated to keeping our facilities clean, safe, and ready to welcome you back.

We hope you are enjoying your summer and looking forward to seeing you soon.

A Week at Oakmont

Reflections on Eli’s experience at the historic Club during the 125 U.S. Open th

I recently had the honor of volunteering on the maintenance staff at Oakmont Country Club during the U S Open, an experience facilitated by Lemon Bay’s own John Lynch, Club President at Oakmont. It was a remarkable experience to work alongside some of the finest professionals in our industry and see what makes Oakmont a globally renowned golf course. I’m eager to share my reflections insights into Oakmont’s culture and

The Culture of Excellence

Oakmont’s culture is truly special. Each year, the club attracts dozens of turf students eager to learn from its legacy. Those who excel there often secure top positions in the industry, backed by a network of leading superintendents nationwide. This culture stems from persistent leadership and a commitment to growth. At Oakmont, staff are

Lessons for Lemon Bay

While Oakmont is a unique institution, we can cultivate a similar culture at Lemon Bay. We’re already making strides. Our leadership team, including our talented Superintendent Chris Ingalls, who earned a well-deserved promotion after his graduation, is dedicated to building a program that attracts and develops top talent. The Club’s decision to adjust titles, such as my role as Director of Agronomy, creates clear career paths, a key factor in our industry.

We’ve also invested in housing for interns and seasonal staff, paired with an industry-leading benefits package and competitive pay rates. These are strong foundations to draw ambitious professionals to the Boca Grande area.

During my time at Oakmont, I spoke with college students and recent graduates about working in Florida during the winter. Many were intrigued by the opportunity to gain hands-on experience at a club like ours. I also connected with club directors who are keen to recommend Lemon Bay to their staff seeking winter work.

These discussions reinforced that we don’t need to match Oakmont’s scale to make an impact we just need to stay focused on helping our team succeed, whether they remain with us or advance elsewhere. Building a reputation as a club that launches careers will make Lemon Bay a destination for talent.

lding Our Future

To take the next step, we’re exploring a formal internship program to compete with the best in the industry. With fewer turf students entering the field, clubs that offer housing, mentorship, and unique experiences like attending golf tournaments or visiting other courses stand out.

We’re already ahead of many clubs, and I’m excited to build on this momentum By investing in young professionals and fostering a culture of teaching and learning, we can create a team that takes as much pride in Lemon Bay as Oakmont’s staff does in their course.

My time at Oakmont was a powerful reminder that exceptional golf courses are shaped by exceptional people. I returned to Lemon Bay inspired to continue elevating the Club. Thank you for your support as we work to make Lemon Bay a place where excellence flourishes on the course and behind the scenes.

A comprehensive review of the Club’s financial position LemonBay’sFinancial PerformanceSnapshot

Dear Members, the following is a detailed description of the information provided for both the FYE 2023 – 2024 audited financials and the Q2 2024 –2025 draft financials.

The Balance Sheet provides a snapshot of the Club's financial condition at a specific point in time. It shows what the Club owns (assets), what it owes (liabilities), and the difference between the two (equity or net assets). In essence, the balance sheet provides insight into the Club's financial health, indicating its ability to meet its obligations and manage its assets efficiently. This information is crucial for Club management and members to make informed financial decisions Here's a more detailed breakdown:

1 Assets: This includes everything the Club owns that has value It can be divided into current assets (cash, accounts receivable, inventory) and fixed assets (property, equipment, and other long-term investments).

It shows the Club's revenues, expenses, and the resulting profit or loss. The P&L statement provides insight into the Club's financial health and helps management make informed decisions about budgeting, cost control, and financial planning. Here's a breakdown of what it typically includes:

1. Revenues: This section lists all the income generated by the Club, such as membership fees, guest fees, food and beverage sales, event income, and other sources of revenue.

2.Expenses: This section details all the costs incurred by the Club, including salaries and wages, utilities, maintenance, supplies, and other operating expenses.

An Anniversary to Celebrate this March

As we reach the halfway point of our summer programming, we've seen a fantastic turnout. Best of all, Carolann Raub and Joe Zarba have graciously agreed to co-chair the March event and officially join our A Better Shot family We're incredibly excited for the energy and experience they'll bring to the team as we continue building momentum for the year ahead

Introducingour30

AnniversaryChairs th

CarolannRaub&JoeZarba

Carolann Raub (CA) and Joe Zarba (The Colonel) joined Lemon Bay in July 2024 because they longed for a more intimate club like they experienced in California Their expectations were exceeded and they love being members. One of the draws was A Better

Shot, as they had the opportunity to meet some of the alums and were very impressed They attended their first fundraiser and played in the tournament last Spring. This summer, Joe dove in, volunteering every Tuesday and Carolann is looking forward to helping as well. When Tom O'Shane and Mary Anne Hooker asked if they would co-chair the 2026 30th Anniversary event, they didn't hesitate to accept. This will be in addition to their recent involvement in Club governance, with CA joining the Finance Committee and Joe joining the Membership Committee.

For those of you who have not met CA and Colonel, their paths first crossed at a military appreciation golf event, which they consider to be the greatest game ever

played. Since then, their bond has only grown stronger, and you will often find them out playing a competitive match. So far CA is leading this year's matches, by a lot.

CA spent her career in New York City raising capital for alternative investments targeting family offices and small endowments. The Colonel spent 31 years serving our nation as a proud member of the United States Marine Corps. CA was involved with Pro Kids First Tee in San Diego and also served on the board of Generate Hope in San Diego and has experience with different fundraising efforts.

Employee of the Month

July: Kevin Gramentz

We’re excited to recognize Kevin as this month’s Employee of the Month! Although he’s only been with us for three months, Kevin has already made a big impact on the grounds crew with his strong work ethic, positive attitude, and team spirit.

Hailing from Farmington, Minnesota, Kevin quickly became a valued member of the team. He says his favorite memory so far was his very first day on the job getting to meet the crew and immediately feeling welcomed into a supportive, hard-working group. Outside of work, Kevin enjoys golfing and swimming, hobbies that reflect his active and outdoorsy nature. Whether he's maintaining the grounds or teeing off on the weekend, Kevin brings energy and focus to everything he does.

August: Lars Johnson

Lars has been a key part of our kitchen team for the past six months, working as a line cook and mastering signature salads and wraps. Originally from Chicago, Illinois, Lars brings Midwestern charm and a serious passion for great

food to everything he does. Outside the kitchen, you’ll find him enjoying life outdoors boating, biking, fishing, and of course, golfing. One of Lars’s most unforgettable memories at the Club came during a round of golf. Just as he and his group approached the 18th green, they were greeted by a surprise guest a giant alligator parked right in front of the hole. Rather than risk a turf war, they picked up their balls and called it a day We’re lucky to have Lars on the team!
