Sustainability-focused trade association GSN Planet (Green Spa Network) has added the Lisa Henry Jacobs Award to its collection of sustainability accolades.
Jacobs died last year following a battle with cancer. She was a beloved industry veteran with more than 30 years of senior management and development consulting experience.
Jacobs was an active early GSN Planet board member, promoting eco-conscious spa practices. This eponymous honour will recognise a similar trailblazer championing sustainable living through connection, heart and purpose.
Maggy Dunphy, GSN Planet board president, said: “Lisa reminded us that one person can spark meaningful change. This award celebrates individuals who
lead with heart and inspire others through their actions, proving that the power of one can transform communities and industries alike.”
Nominations are now open and winners will be revealed at the GSN Planet's Summit in October.

Emlyn Brown announces departure from Accor after seven years as VP of wellbeing strategy
Emlyn Brown has announced his departure from Accor, where he was VP of wellbeing, strategy, design and development over the last seven years.
Brown is known for many wellness initiatives, including the publication of Accor’s ROI of Wellness whitepaper in 2019. The document was a way to track how wellness influences buying decisions.
He worked with the Raffles Design team to create the brand’s Harmony philosophy, as well as working on the team in charge of reimagining the Pullman hotel gym experience, branding it Pullman Power Fit.
He was also involved in the launch of the 27,000sq ft Raffles Old War Office Spa in London, UK.
After 35 years as a family-run business, now is the time to pass Ragdale on Michael Isaacs and Penny Nisbitt
What an adventure it’s been - leading wellbeing globally across brands
Emlyn Brown
Brown also published a whitepaper and education series in February called Making Waves: Rethinking Spa and Wellness Design for a Modern Era, which highlights the opportunities in spa design around the world.
He was also a driving force behind the modern bathing concept called Basin Glacial Waters, which will open in September at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise in Alberta, Canada.
While Brown hasn’t revealed his next move, he's already involved as an advisor in the social wellness concept 432. The first site for this democratised bathhouse concept will open in Amsterdam later this quarter.

Michael Isaacs and Penny Nisbitt sell Ragdale Hall to US investor
Ragdale Hall, the destination spa hotel in Leicestershire, UK, has been sold to US firm Fortress Investment Group after 35 years of family ownership. The consideration was not disclosed.
Former owners, Michael Isaacs and Penny Nisbitt will now step away from the business, which will be operated by Davidson Hospitality, with Davidson's Andrew Brown a director.
Davidson operates high-end hotels and resorts in the US under brands such as Kimpton, Marriott,
Hyatt, Margaritaville and Hilton, as well as having a boutique hotel operating company called Pivot.
With the exception of the former owners, the current leadership will remain in place.
Fortress says it will deliver renewed investment in order to grow the business and build its spa portfolio with further acquisitions. With Champney's believed to be for sale, Spa Business speculates that Fortress might also add that brand to its portfolio.

Seléne Spa and Wellness opens, o ering an urban sanctuary for holistic healing – combining modern technology and traditional Eastern practices
Wellness, when steeped in truth, becomes a pathway to wholeness
Seléne Spa and Wellness has opened its doors following a renovation and rebrand in the heart of Adelaide’s central business district, Australia.
Originally opened in 2006 by founder Katina Jones as an integrative wellness centre called Aspects of Healing, the space has been transformed to meet the needs of clients in the city, as well as those frequenting Jones’ sister retreat business, Ayurveda Village.
Ayurveda Village is a rural retreat in the Adelaide Hills that was established in 2014, where Jones and her team provide healing experiences in nature.
Seléne Spa and Wellness
DC Architecture and Interior Design upgraded the space, fusing natural textures, refined finishes and calming aesthetic – designed to provide a healing and luxurious atmosphere. The spa represents where East meets West in both its elegant design and therapeutic intention.
Jones told Spa Business, “The inspiration for Seléne Spa and Wellness emerged from years of witnessing the profound need for rest, reflection and reconnection in the lives of those we serve.”

The Medicine Buddha’s presence reminds us that the potential for healing already resides within us
The 300sq m day spa has six treatment rooms, as well as an Ayurveda room with classical handcrafted Shirodhara tables of neem wood, copper foot bowls, steam boxes and oil vessels in copper and brass.
The space also has two steam chambers with adjoining showers, changing facilities and a Cocoon Wellness Pro Pod – an automated infrared device with synchronised vibration massage.
At the heart of the spa, there is a reflection area called the Gathering Room, complete with a golden Medicine Buddha. This is where guests relax after treatments, drink teas and eat wholesome food.
Jones said: “Following a massage, a facial, or a guided meditation, people enter a state of openness and release,” Jones added. “In this space, contemplation naturally
arises about who they are, where they are and what truly matters.”
The spa has partnered with Hydrafacial, as well as with Medik8 and Australian brand Epictetus.
Ayurveda Village
The rural sister business Ayurveda Village, in the Adelaide Hills will be expanded over the next five years.
It is currently a guesthouse for four people with two treatment rooms, a meditation/yoga room and extensive gardens. Jones is again working with DC Architecture and Interior Design again to transform the space so it will include nine pods, seven for accommodation and two for treatments.
There will also be more room for treatments, plus a multipurpose building for yoga, teaching and community events. ●

Phytomer unveils Oligopur Youth Cream with marine sugar to reduce blemishes
Phytomer has introduced a new formula to its skincare range, called Oligopur Youth Cream.
The three-in-one correction formula is designed to treat visible pores, blemishes and wrinkles.
Customers looking to fix blemishes represent a growing market, according to Phytomer. Marks on the skin can be caused by stress, hormonal changes, pollution, the use of comedogenic cosmetics and genetics.
Phytomer has created a light textured cream for combination
to oily skin that it says provides visible results in one month of daily applications, according to its trials.
The cream features a new marine sugar called glycopur, which is a substance created by fermenting a planktonic microorganism found in seawater.
The sugar limits the overproduction of sebum. Too much sebum can lead to the clogging of hair follicles, an increase in inflammation and a proliferation of c. acnes bacteria, which is the main cause of acne.
Céline Laperdrix, research and innovation director, Phytomer, said:

Seed to Skin launches anti-ageing body spray called Seru'Mist
Holistic skincare brand Seed to Skin Tuscany has introduced The Seru’Mist, a hydroactive body spray infused with an anti-ageing body serum to hydrate and brighten skin.
After three years of testing, the brand perfected a lightweight formula that replenishes the skin and provides nourishing minerals to support skin longevity, firmness and elasticity.
The ingredients found in the mist include a combination of bio-ferments, prebiotics and plant-based extracts alongside niacinamide and a plant-based hydrolat complex.
Ectoin, a naturally derived molecule, helps prevent dehydration and reinforces the skin’s natural barrier. Hyperfermented manna, extracted from the sap of the manna ash tree, is used in the mist to provide long-lasting hydration.
Seed to Skin says the product regenerates cells and protects against environmental stressors while improving radiance and evening skin tone.
