Welcome to the first edition of the CREATIVE magazine where I delve into the transformative impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the creative industry. Having worked both in front of and behind the camera, I've witnessed the incredible changes AI brings, offering tools and opportunities that were unimaginable a few years ago.

AI democratizes the creative landscape, empowering solopreneurs to achieve stunning results with minimal support It acts as a co-creator in filmmaking and enhances photography through automated editing and intelligent composition, enabling even solo creators to produce highquality, professional content

This issue features articles on embracing emerging AI trends, integrating AI into your workflow, and successful AI-powered projects. Embrace technology, push boundaries, and let AI be your ally in your solopreneur journey.

Happy creating!

The AI Revolution in Creative Industries

AI has revolutionized the creative industry, transforming content creation with unprecedented efficiency and innovation From scriptwriting to visual effects, AI tools streamline workflows, allowing creators to focus more on storytelling. The public's enthusiasm for AI-driven art and media is palpable, as these technologies democratize creativity, enabling solo artists and small teams to produce high-quality work that compete with major production studios

This is a video I worked on with a Dubai-based filmmaker, Faizan Patel, in February 2024 I was the subject in focus as well as the one who worked on the AI-generated prompt on Adobe Firefly using keywords like “post-apocalyptic structures” and “futuristic architecture”. At the slow motion spin, the prompts used were “trees and nature” and “mechanical structures”.

These are two images that were generated using AI generated art on Adobe Firefly. The images were still frames exported from an editing software and then taken into Adobe Firefly where a selected portion of the image was generated with prompts auch as “post-apocalptypic structures” and “trees and nature” This video was worked on with Faizan Patel (@faizanpatelphotography), who used a Sony A7m4 Camera, shot on 60 FPS.

Emerging Trends in AI Creativity

AI's rise has sparked numerous trends in the creative world Automated design tools and AI-generated art are gaining popularity, making sophisticated techniques accessible to all. AI-enhanced personalization in marketing and media production is also on the rise, catering to individual preferences with precision As these trends evolve, AI continues to shape the future of creativity, fostering innovation and expanding possibilities for artists everywhere

AI art is transforming Instagram Reels, providing creators with innovative tools to craft visually stunning and engaging content. AI-powered applications like Adobe Firefly, generate unique visual effects, animations, and art styles that elevate the aesthetic appeal of Reels These tools allow users to experiment with artistic elements that would be time-consuming or difficult to achieve manually, such as transforming images into animations or applying intricate visual filters in real-time As a result, AI art not only enhances the creativity of Instagram Reels but also captivates viewers, driving higher engagement and setting new trends in digital content creation

EDITING LIKEA Main Character

In today's fast-paced digital landscape, designing with intention has become a crucial factor for achieving outstanding results Whether you're a filmmaker, photographer, or social media influencer, a purposeful approach to your creative process can significantly enhance the impact and effectiveness of your work By setting clear goals, understanding your audience, and leveraging the right tools, you can create content that resonates deeply and achieves your desired outcomes.

For example, in filmmaking, every shot, angle, and piece of dialogue is chosen to serve the story In photography, composition, lighting, and color are meticulously arranged to evoke specific emotions. On social media, every post, caption, and hashtag is strategically selected to engage and grow your audience When your creative choices are intentional, the results are not only aesthetically pleasing but also impactful and memorable.

Anne Zeiser's book on Transmedia Marketing highlights the integral connection between media creators and marketers Zeiser explains that in today's interconnected world, creators must think like marketers, and marketers must embrace creativity This symbiotic relationship ensures that content is not only artistically compelling but also strategically effective.

This mini project is an example of how a media creator and marketer can, in fact, be the same person This image was shot by Muthanna (@muthannacreates) using a Sony A7iv camera with a 35mm lens and a shutter of 1/5 - 1/10 The mysteriousness of the hair flick shot sparked an idea that resembled an aesthetic of a potential Album cover Hence, it was then edited on Photoshop using a ‘plastic’ overlay and the famous “Parental Advisory Explicit Content” sticker at the bottom right to futher add credibility to the idea The two images were then posted on Instagram account @leighferns on February 22, 2024 with the caption “ALBUM DROPPING SOON. 01.04.24 6PM (GST)”.

The reactions from the public were quite interesting as most followers fell for the idea Although the date indicating the 1st of April alluded to April Fools, the idea was well marketed with the caption and aesthetic that eventually led people to believing it was real

MAKEAI WORK forYou

In the ever-evolving world of digital media, post-production is a critical phase where raw footage transforms into a polished final product Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a game-changer in this process, offering tools that streamline workflows, enhance creativity, and deliver professional results with remarkable efficiency. By tailoring AI to suit specific postproduction needs, creators can unlock new levels of productivity and innovation

With this shoot specifically, we did not want to alter the images too much as the photos turned out way better than we imagined A few touch ups, however, were needed such as blemish removal, colour correction and removing certain parts of the image with generative fill

Adobe Lightroom CC has recently launched a new AI generative tool that makes photo retouching much more believable and easy The image on the top right is the original RAW image with muted colours and patchy skin The image to the top left are the plot points used in the blemish and ‘healing’ process on Lightroom where it selects other similar parts on the surface (i.e. other smoother parts of the face) to make similarities in the selected area. In doing so, the retouched image does not look “fake” or “overly edited” as it was the case before. The image on the lower right is the final edited image where Lightroom used an AI fix to make a better and more aligned composition, make certain areas of the image stand out and darken the shadows more. The contrast between the Teal Green and Red make the image pop more as the focus goes directly to the face.

Therefore, in the case of retouching on Lightoom, AI’s new generative healing tool allows to edit your images quicker and in a more belieable way. It helps to speed up the process while also being efficient in the final end result.

TRANSFORM YOUR

IMAGES WITH AI

Original 1

This original image showcases the raw setup with a green screen and lighting The original idea for the shoot was to create a “dramatic” sense of movement and lighting that depicts the vulnerability of an artist/dancer in their element

The image was then taken into OpenArt AI, where a series of prompts were experimented with to produce the result on the left The prompt used was "post-apocalyptic private dragon prison”. As you can see, AI added elements of a "pirate costume” to the subject, and replaced the background entirely. However, certain areas, like the area around the head and the color difference between the subject and background, make the image look poorly edited

Final Touches

This is where a human editor's intervention is most needed - to bridge the gap between AI's attempt and a human eye. I took this image into Lightroom, where I used the AI tools for background and subject masking to color-correct the overall image. I muted the strong reds and used an AI-suggested color combo to work my way to using a Teal and Orange Colour grading look. I then took the image into Photoshop, where I manually edited the face with the original image as the features looked distorted. I used Generative Fill in Photoshop to generate a new hat and fix the gaps between the arms and the weird haze behind the subject

Toconclude...
