Health & Wellness Fair for APF employees The Human Resources Organization Management (HROM) Office invites all appropriated fund civilian employees on Marine Corps Base Quantico to attend the 2017 Health and Wellness Fair. Various health care and dental plan vendors will be available to answer questions and provide enrollment information. The Employee Assistance Program will also attend this event and provide helpful and useful resources. The fair will be held at The Clubs at Quantico, ballrooms 3 and 4 on Nov. 16, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Belleau Wood themed essay contest Marine Corps Association and Foundation is co-sponsoring a Belleau Wood-themed essay contest with Marine Corps University. The contest is open to four categories: Active duty Marines sergeant & below Active duty Marines staff non-commissioned officers Active duty Marines company grade officers Active duty Marines field grade officers A wide range of entries are welcomed to include historical perspectives that link Belleau Wood with United States Marine Corps (USMC) combat experience in OIF/ OEF or other previous engagements in USMC history. Essays should be at least 2,000 but no more than 3,000 words in length. The winning essay in each category will receive an invitation to attend the centennial commemoration of the Battle of Bealleau Wood in France May 2018 and publication in Leatherneck, Marine Corps Gazette or Marine Corps History. Two honorable mentions in each category will receive cash awards provided by the Marine Corps Association Foundation.

Dental School seeking patients needing root canals The Endodontic Department at the Naval Postgraduate Dental School (NPDS), Bethesda, Maryland is currently accepting new patients in need of root canals to be given by our residents. If your dentist has told you that you need a root canal or you are having tooth pain and have been putting off having a root canal, contact us for a consultation. Patients authorized to be treated in this facility are active duty military, military retirees, and eligible family members (priority will be given to active duty personnel). A written referral for root canal treatment from your dentist may be required before treatment is started. Permanent fillings or crowns required following the root canal will be the patient’s responsibility. Please contact the NPDS Endodontic front desk if you have questions or would like to schedule an appointment for a root canal evaluation at 301-295-0077 or 301-295-1830.

Russell Road construction Now–Dec. 31 traffic will be stopped for intervals of 10-15 minutes between the hours of 9:30a.m.— 2:30 p.m. in the Russell Road construction zone. These stoppages will allow for the movement of material and equipment and for necessary utility work to be completed. Flaggers will control traffic flow in accordance with Virginia Department of Transportation standards.

SEPTEMBER COURT MARTIAL Officer Candidates School, Training and Education Command Sept. 6, 2017 At a Special Court-Martial at Quantico, Virginia, Cpl. W. C. Long was convicted by a military judge of wrongful use of a controlled substance. The military judge sentenced the accused to 75 days confinement, forfeiture of $1,062 pay per month for a period of two months, reduction to E-3 and a reprimand.
