Concept Statement:
This year’s Steelcase competition was based in Boston, MA; NEXT robotic hub. The goal was to design a space that helps increases the employees productivity, collaboration and focus. And balancing transparency and confidentiality. Lastly, improve the employees health and wellbeing. I incorporated that with my layout and distribution of the spaces and I made sure to design the spaces where the employees can feel comfortable where I included a blend of both areas, a closed space and an open space for collaboration and customer’s satisfaction. The space is designed to foster creativity, collaboration, and productivity, while also providing privacy and quiet areas for focused work. As a technology-focused company, I was focused on requiring a state-of-the-art technology infrastructure and equipment, as well as spaces that can accommodate frequent team meetings, client presentations, and industry events. I also made sure to incorporate sustainable design principles, with a focus on energy efficiency, natural lighting and eco-friendly materials Ultimately, the design is created to give a welcoming and inspiring environment that reflects the companies culture and values, and promotes employee well-being and satisfaction.

I understand the importance of branding in creating a strong and recognizable identity. I wanted the brand to reflect their mission and values, as well as the innovative and cutting-edge nature of their products. my branding strategy focused on creating a cohesive visual and verbal identity that is consistent across all touchpoints. I utilized a bold and modern color palette, with a focus on metallic tones to reflect the high-tech nature of tehir products. i designed the logo to be clean and simple, with a modern and futuristic feel that reflects next hub’s commitment to innovation. Additionally, keeping in mind that company will prioritize building strong relationships with their customers and communities, with a focus on transparency, authenticity, and customer satisfaction. My goal was to develop a strong and cohesive brand, I believe that this can help the company establish themselves as THE leading player in the field of robotics, while also building trust and loyalty with their customers.

Colorful CONCEPT
My sofa was inspired by the art of maximalism and the freedom of birds. Birds are vulnerable and are affected by climate change; Formica materials provides unlimited color options to express my idea. My sofa was designed to be more beautiful than functional. This piece offers the customizabilty of the back, seat, arms and leg options, which are inspired by the unique physiology of birds. Using color and geometry are the two main drivers of my design. My motive was to create a piece that’s unusual but also meant for daily use that could be just as worthy of artistic attention.
MATERIALS
Exploring the Formica materials which offer and limitless color options inpired my ideas. My color choices where inspired by the endless colors of birds paired with the playfulness of the Memphis style. Since Formica Brand products support conservation and green building practices certification which has a direct impact on these fragile habitats , this supports my idea of creating a playful seat without harming the enviroment.

Problem Statement
The Children’s Health Pavilion project in Tucson aims to create an inclusive healthcare environment that integrates diverse spaces while meeting codes and guidelines. Inspired by Arizona’s skies, the design seeks to foster well-being for patients, families, and providers. It must address various aspects including accessibility, functionality, and aesthetics to create a supportive atmosphere.

AffinityArt Bridge establishes a fixed-location non-profit art gallery at the intersection of California St & Taylor St in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood, close to Nob Hill, represents a powerful and commendable initiative. By showcasing the artworks of individuals experiencing homelessness, the gallery not only provides a source of income but also fosters awareness, empathy, and understanding within the community. It serves as a bridge between different social and economic segments, challenging perceptions of homelessness and highlighting the transformative power of art. Positioned at this strategic location, it symbolizes the unity and shared humanity between privilege and adversity. Supported by auctions, galas, and partnerships with local organizations, it offers a unique and lasting force for positive change in the city. Additionally, the art gallery serves as a workshop for homeless individuals, providing them with supplies funded and supported by these local partnerships, further empowering and uplifting the community.
This location sits at the intersection of two distinct communities with varying socio-economic backgrounds. California St & Taylor St is likely to have significant foot traffic, especially given its location in a bustling urban area.

TARGET POPULATION
As of August 2022, San Francisco had 18,995 adults who had experienced homelessness in the prior year. Of these, 8,758 (46%) had a substance use or serious mental health disorder.
- 4287 (49%) had a SU disorder only - 1401 (16%) had a MH disorder only - 3070 (35%) had both These 8,758 people constituted the population of Mental Health SF.
The target population of my project primarily consists of unhoused individuals in the Tenderloin neighborhood of San Francisco, as well as individuals dealing with mental health challenges and substance addiction.
WHY?
Empowerment of Unhoused Artists:
Provides unhoused artists with an opportunity to earn income, fostering financial stability and personal growth.
Awareness and Empathy:
Raises awareness about homelessness, mental health, and addiction issues, encouraging empathy and dialogue within the community.
Cultural Enrichment:
Brings art and culture to underserved communities, promoting inclusivity and enriching the cultural landscape.
Inspiration:
Provides inspiration and hope for individuals in recovery from addiction and homelessness, offering a therapeutic outlet through art.
Partnerships and Collaboration:
Engages with local organizations, nonprofits, and educational institutions, building a network of support and shared responsibility.
HOW?
Auctions:
Unhoused artists’ works can be showcased in these events, attracting art enthusiasts and collectors. The proceeds from the sale of artworks are typically divided between the artists and the project. To maximize the impact, we are considering online auctions in addition to traditional in-person events, which can reach a wider audience.
Galas:
These events can be formal or themed to align with the spirit of my project. Tickets to the galas can be sold to affluent residents, art enthusiasts, and other potential patrons. The gala can include elements like art exhibitions, live auctions, live music, and guest speakers to create an engaging and immersive experience. Funds raised at galas can go directly to supporting the project’s operational expenses and art initiatives.
Partnerships with Local Non-profit Organizations:
Non-profits like The Tenderloin Community Action Planning (TCAP) have a grant program, which my project may be eligible for. Additionally, partnerships can lead to co-hosted events or shared resources, reducing operational costs. These collaborations can also help connect us with a broader network of potential supporters and artists.
RESILLIENT, EQUITABLE, and NET ZERO DESIGN
he project has a broad-reaching scope, serving a diverse audience encompassing unhoused artists, affluent residents, art enthusiasts, local organizations, tourists, educational institutions, and those grappling with addiction and mental health challenges. Through a customized marketing strategy, it aspires to instigate enduring positive change. This resilience is cultivated via a multifaceted approach involving diverse funding sources, adaptability, artist income generation, educational initiatives, collaboration with addiction recovery programs, and robust community backing. By fostering connections between communities and aligning with community development, the project secures its sustainability and enduring impact. It champions equity by economically empowering unhoused artists, dismantling geographical barriers by engaging diverse communities, and collaborating with addiction recovery groups to address social disparities. The project actively combats societal stigma, emphasizing inclusivity through enhanced accessibility and affordability. It engages the community, advocating for cultural and environmental equity to create a more compassionate and equitable San Francisco. Furthermore, the project is committed to achieving net-zero energy consumption and advancing sustainability by implementing renewable energy sources, energy-efficient measures, and sustainable materials. It places significant emphasis on waste reduction, mitigation of transportation emissions, public education, and continual monitoring to establish a blueprint for sustainable practices within the community.

The left side of the container is designed for flexibility and adaptability. It is constructed to unfold when needed and close when unneeded. This feature allows the space to transition seamlessly between indoor and outdoor environments. When the workshop or outdoor activities require an open, spacious atmosphere, the door can be easily unfolded, creating an inviting and expansive area. This open configuration enhances accessibility and engagement for both artists and visitors.
The layout of the project is thoughtfully designed to create a multifaceted space. One half of the layout is dedicated to the workshop area, where unhoused artists can work on their projects, while the other half serves as a triangular viewer area. This viewer area caters to visitors who are interested in observing the creative process. It features a rectangular window that provides a unique vantage point for affluent visitors to watch the unhoused individuals at work in the workshop. Additionally, it allows them to view the artwork produced, fostering a deeper connection and understanding between different segments of the community. This design encourages empathy and bridges the gap between privilege and adversity in a meaningful way.
WAYFINDING
The layout incorporates strategic wayfinding, with separate entrances for artists and visitors, ensuring artists’ privacy, safety, and a controlled flow of traffic.
