PROFESSIONAL GRADUATE CERTIFICATE IN EDUCATION (NON-QTS) (SUBJECT TO VALIDATION BY THE OPEN UNIVERSITY) Prepare to teach young people between the ages of 11 and 16. This course blends conceptual and theoretical study, learning environment observation, and practical application through combining university study and teaching
practice. This programme provides professional training for graduates of Mathematics, English, and Science, and trainees will be prepared to teach to Key Stage 4 (age 16-GCSE equivalent) in their subjects.

This course includes two work placement modules, allowing you to gain
experience of working as a teacher within the secondary school environment. The award adopts an approach to teacher preparation that is strongly
grounded in a situated perspective on professional learning. Trainees will
spend two-thirds of the 36-week programme in a partnership school, and the remaining time in HE-based study at University Centre Leeds.
