AbouttheMt.LebanonBandProgram
TheMt.LebanonSchoolDistrictoffersinstructiononbandinstrumentsbeginninginfourth grade.Studentsaregivensmallgroupinstructionandensembleexperienceattheelementary level,thenmoveontothemiddleandhighschoolprogramswheretheirensembleeducation continues.Theeighth-gradebandsparticipateinanannualadjudicationfestivalandarerated accordingtonationalandstatestandardsinmusiceducation,wheretheyhaveconsistently receivedSuperiorratings.SeniorHighstudentsparticipateinPennsylvaniaMusicEducators Associationfestivals,suchasDistrict,Region,State,andHonorsEnsembles Mt Lebanon StudentshavealsoperformedintheNAfMEAll-EasternFestival,BandsofAmericaHonor Band,andtheMusicforAllHonorBandofAmerica
TheMt.LebanonHighSchoolWindEnsembleperformedduringthe2024PMEAConference inErie.Theyalsoperformedatthe2019PMEA/NAfMEEasternDivisionConferencein Pittsburgh.In2018theWindEnsembleperformedatthePMEAAnnualIn-ServiceConferencein Lancaster.Additionalperformancesincludethe2017and2012MusicForAllNationalFestivalin Indianapolis,CarnegieHallinNewYorkCityin2015,andthe2013PMEAAnnualIn-Service ConferenceinErie InhonorofMusicinOurSchoolsMonth,theWindEnsemblewasinvitedto performatthePennsylvaniaStateCapitolinHarrisburgin2023
Proudoftheirlong-standingtraditionofmarchingandmusicalexcellence,theMt.Lebanon“Blue Devil”MarchingBandisthelargestco-curricularactivityintheMt.LebanonSchoolDistrict. TheMarchingBandisaseasonedtravelerandhasappearedinmanytelevisedevents,suchasthe NewYorkCitySt.Patrick’sDayParade,SanDiegoBigBayBalloonParade,ChicagoSt. Patrick’sDayParade,andmultipleBCSBowlGames TheyarealsoarepeatperformeratWalt DisneyWorld’sMagicKingdom Locally,theBlueDevilshaveperformedforthePittsburgh Penguins,PittsburghSteelers,PittsburghLight-UpNight,Mt LebanonLight-UpNight,Mt LebanonPumpkinPatchParade,BloomfieldCitizen’sCouncilHalloweenParade,Kennywood FallFantasyParade,andtheSouthHillsMemorialDayParade Inaddition,thebandparticipated inboththe2016and2017PittsburghPenguinsStanleyCupParades TheBlueDevilMarching BandperformedatWaltDisneyWorldinthespringof2022andattheBandsofAmerica Mid-AtlanticRegionalandLincolnMemorialinthefallof2022 Inthefallof2023,they performedattheBandsofAmericaToledoRegionalandRockandRollHallofFame.TheBlue DevilsalsoplacedfirstinClassAAAatthe2023PIMBAChampionships.Thiswasachievedin theirthirdyearofparticipationinthelocalcompetitivecircuit.Inaddition,theymostrecently addedaPepBandtofurthersupportourvarsityathleticteamsthroughouttheschoolyear.
OursincerehopeandgoalisthatupongraduationallMt Lebanonstudentstakewiththema lifelongappreciationofmusic Manyofourbandalumnicontinueusingtheirmusicaltalentsby participatingincollegeensemblesandthenasmembersofcommunitybandsandorchestras Still, othersgoontobeoutstandingmusiceducators,technicians,andperformersinthefield,thus passingourmissionontofuturegenerationsofmusicians.

CarsonCheskawichishonoredtobepartoftheMt. LebanonHighSchoolWindEnsembleandtobeplayinga solo!HehasbeenthePrincipalTubafortheHighSchool WindEnsembleandOrchestraforthepastthreeyears.He wasLowBrassCo-SectionLeaderthispastschoolyear. CarsonhasbeenstudyingtubaprivatelywithMr.Ron Spangforthepastyear.SomeofCarson’smusical accomplishmentsincludeearningpositionsinthe PennsylvaniaMusicEducatorsAssociation(PMEA) DistrictOneHonorsBand(Grades9&11),DistrictBand (Grades10&11),andRegionBand(Grade10).Carson’s favoritemomentwhilewiththeWindEnsemblehasbeen performingatthisyear’sPMEAAll-StateConference.He wouldliketothankhisfriendsandfamilyfortheir continuoussupport,andalsohisteachers,Ms.Marino,Mr. Reichenfeld,Mr.Spang,andMr.Cheskawich, fortheirdedicationandinspiration.
HudsonHackleyisacurrentjunioratMt.LebanonHighSchool. Hewasamemberofthemarchingbandasaclarinetplayerfortwo yearsandplayedclarinetinconcertbandfreshmanyear.Hehas sinceplayedoboeinthewindensemblefortwoyearsasprincipal. HeisalsotheprincipaloboistofThreeRiver’sYoungPeople’s OrchestrasandPittsburghYouthSymphonyOrchestraandhas playedasamemberofmultiplePMEAensemblesincluding HonorsBand,DistrictBand,DistrictOrchestra,RegionBand, RegionOrchestra,andAll-StateOrchestra Heisthankfultohave workedwithhiscurrentoboeteacher,theAssociatePrincipal OboistofthePittsburghSymphony,MaxBlair.Heisalsothankful tohaveworkedwithMr.Cheskawich,Mr.Richenfeld,andMs. MarinointheMt.LebanonMusicprogram.Heplansongoinginto musictostudyoboeperformance.
AJStromishonoredtobeapartoftheMt.LebanonHigh SchoolWindEnsembleforallfouryearsofhighschool andtobeplayingasolo.HeservedasthePrincipal Euphoniumhisjuniorandsenioryears.HewastheDrum MajorfortheMarchingBandhissenioryear.Hestudies privatelywithRyanSmith,anelementaryschoolmusic teacherandfreelancemusician.AJhasbeenamemberof thePennsylvaniaMusicEducatorsAssociation(PMEA) Honors,District,Region,andAll-StateBandhisjunior andsenioryears.Hispassionliesinthefactthateachday hegetstoplaywiththemosttalentedmusiciansaround himandhewillfondlyremembertheshenaniganstheygot into.AJisattendingPennStateUniversityforMusic EducationandPerformance.Hewouldliketothankhis musicteachersfortheirtirelessdedicationandunwavering supportthroughouthismusicaljourney:Mr.Cheskawich, Mr.Reichenfeld,Mr.Spang,Mr.Smith,Mrs.Wagner,andDr.Tabler.
