It has been yet another amazing process so far, Leartify magazine is constantly evolving, in an attempt to positively impact millennials while tellings tories.

This issue embodies character and personality. Our editors had a fun time with this, challenging them to explore their talents and channel their passions.

Having Keturah King as the face of this issue is very exciting and I am grateful for the opportunity.

In an attempt to redefine "African time" , we have also built a healthy campaign around it.

TORONTO FASHION WEEK Back in October, I attended Hamilton Fashion Week (HFW). I’ve always loved going to HFW because we are such a family. We all know each other and talk to each other whenever we need to. I was able to interview Ken and Krystal many times and really got to know them. I really fell in love with fashion after getting to know them and I wanted to experience other fashion weeks.

Toronto Fashion Week (TFW) was next for me.

It was February 5-7 in Yorkville downtown Toronto. I only attended one show on the first day and it was a great show. First, I just want to touch on the difference between the two fashion weeks.

NONSO AMADI LIVE IN WINNIPEG NONSO AMADI: QUICK RUN DOWN FROM MY VIEWPOINT - INIOLUWA OLORUNNISHOLA BACKGROUND DJ Spazz had told me earlier that year that Nonso Amadi was in the works. Considering my history with DJ Spazz, I was excited about working with him. MSG had held down the live show with Banky the year before and I knew we would have fun working with Nonso Amadi live. Spazz and I concluded over the phone MSG would host Nonso Amadi live in Winnipeg. Litty.

I broke the news to the band almost immediately.

It was time to plot rehearsal and rental logistics but I could not give them an exact show date.

Spazz and his team weren’t able to let me know when Nonso Amadi was happening. Promotion had started and Nonso Amadi Live in Winnipeg date was a little sketchy

I don’t have much experience in the talent and entertainment industry, but I am aware that arrangements like these often suffer from miscommunication. I trust Spazz but I couldn’t afford to waste any resources. The details aren’t so important, Nonso Amadi couldn’t make the initial date announced, the show was postponed and he came at a later date.

In that time, I had told Spazz I was out. It was all a little too disorganized for me especially when I thought about the logistics for my band. The new impromptu date had fallen in an extremely busy week for me. Then again, “DJ Spazz/MSG host Nonso Amadi” would not look too bad on the band’s resume, I thought. Plus, on a totally unrelated note, can Nonso Amadi sing live?

The previous year, Banky W held it down and I was curious to hear what Canadian sauce master could deliver live. Spazz called me about noon Friday of the show like “yo, Nonso arrives in a couple hours, where should I bring him for rehearsal?”. I had just told this guy I was out.

DEJI KALAKUTA Hi my name is Déji Kalakuta, I am a young fashion designer from Toronto. The origin of my name ‘Kalakuta’ pays a tribute to Fela Kuti. 'Kalakuta' is the communal compound that housed Fela's family, his band members, dancers, and recording studio. You wouldn't call me a typical designer as I use fashion and modelling to express myself. Most of my work tells various different stories but they all connect back to my personal experience of being an immigrant in Canada. I am a proud Nigerian who has been fortunate enough to learn and embrace the multicultural fabric of Canada - and, that is expressed through the collective work I produce.
