Global Provider of Biopharmaceutical Services Customized eLearning with Hands-On Labs for Real-World Application This organization is the second largest clinical research organization in the world, with approximately 20,000 employees, and has helped develop approximately 95% of the 200 top-selling biopharmaceuticals on the market today. The company publishes the annual R&D Statistical Sourcebook and counsels all the top 50 biopharmaceutical and top 30 biotechnology companies.

CLIENT CHALLENGE: This organization produces several applications internally for a range of uses, the nature of their heavily regulated business and the information that passes through these applications means that security is of paramount importance. They turned to Learning Tree International to help raise awareness of secure application development to their global 300-person team. Like many organizations, they wanted a blended solution. They had previously tried traditional e-learning and it had not been successful, yet they still wanted a digital self-paced solution that was impactful, met the needs the modern learner, and did not pull 300 people out of the business.

OUR SOLUTION: Our solution was to work with several key stakeholders to develop an entirely customized e-learning solution. Through stakeholder engagement with our project team and consultants, we recommended a solution leveraging our content, consultant expertise coupled with an e-learning platform to capture the quality of our offering in the format they needed. The content for the modules were taken from an existing Instructor Led Training (ILT) course, and the instructor broke it down into a modular format that were then converted into Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) compliant e-learning modules.

We embedded hands-on activities via our sandbox technology to ensure the students had practical experience and the instructor recorded the voice over to ensure students had some exposure to his pragmatic, “real world” expertise. The on-demand program was well-received by the live training. Delivering a customized program like this was new for this organization and in their own words they were taking a “leap of faith.” The course “exceeded all expectations” and it also mirrored the feedback from earlier in the year.
