MY WELLBEING JOURNEY – YEAR 4

ENJOYING MY BEST SELF to share my positive feelings and attitudes

With your family, friends, classmates and teacher, enjoy doing the lessons and activities on your journey to grow everyone’s wellbeing. When you all work together special things can be achieved.

Draw your family, friends and yourself enjoying your favourite place in the outdoors. What are their names?

Strengths Weeks

There are four strengths weeks throughout the year and they are placed on the bottom of the right hand page for that week. You and your classmates can draw or describe how you could use one of the strengths below to build your wellbeing and healthy friendships. The order of these weeks are: Being a Leader, Perseverance (Trying Hard), Zest and Love of Learning. Download these activity sheets and award certificates from the Wellbeing Program/Individual Resources/Strengths Weeks or Wellbeing Awards sections of www.learningcurve.com.au

“Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple.” Dr. Seuss This Lesson: WHY: for you to learn about the skills that you need to be resilient at school and at home. When you hear your family and teachers talking about you being resilient, they mean that you are able to respond well to problems or setbacks by bouncing back from them. There are seven skills that you have to practise using in how you think and what you say and do to become resilient. Describe or draw what you do or could do for each of these skills. What Does
Mean? When is a time I was proud of how I bounced back? ..................................................................................................................................................... ..................................................................................................................................................... Skill 1. Feeling positive about the future – when have I done this well? ..................................................................................................................................................... Skill 2. What Does Being Resilient

When

Pausing & Noticing – when you are doing something, stop, pause, take notice and ask yourself, “am I rushing to do this too quickly and missing something?” When were you proud of how you paused and noticed what you were doing?

Knowing the Right Thing to Say

This Lesson: WHY: for you to understand what are the right ways to act in different places to keep safe, and then using your strengths to tell your friends that. Having the courage to speak up is called being assertive. Say what concerns you, how you feel and what you want to happen. Write what you would say to your friend for each of the following situations that could happen.

My friends want to swim outside the flags at the beach.

I don’t have my helmet and my friends want me to go for a ride.

My friends want to cross a busy road not at the traffic lights. My friends want to go to the shops without any of us asking our parents.
