As an instructor in Continuing Education at NSC as well as a student I appreciate the ability to find classes that fit within my specific interests.

I am a practicing artist whose family members are all scientists and I enjoy the crossover that can happen between these two disciplines. This class is perfectly taught as a both an exploration of cutting-edge scientific tools as well as an investigation in photography. I enjoyed every moment of it.

Introduction to Adobe InDesign Adobe InDesign is the industry standard desktop publishing software for graphic designers. It can be used to create works such as posters, flyers, brochures, magazines, newspapers and books.

Besides hard-copy publishing, InDesign can also produce tablet and device ready media. Come learn the top skills beginners want to acquire (such as design and layout techniques for brochures and newsletters) and get on a solid footing for further explorations.

Damian Grava Damian was formally trained in ceramics at Keene State College in New Hampshire. Upon moving to Seattle in 2003 Damian apprenticed with clay artist Matt Patton for three years, was a resident artist at Pottery Northwest for five years and worked at multiple wood fire kilns. In 2005 he began teaching classes at Pottery Northwest and Seward Park Clay Studio, furthering his research of soda fire pottery while working as a studio technician. Damian started the Redmond Clay Studio in 2009 where he is currently the director, instructor and curator of ceramic art shows. He continues to make pots in his home studio and shows in galleries and museums locally and nationally.

On our way we’ll visit Neolithic burial chambers, Roman roads, medieval abbey ruins, Leeds Castle and Tudor pubs. Here we follow the spirit of Chaucer’s pilgrims collecting our own stories with history unfolding beneath our feet as we enjoy our independent, slowwalking holiday from our fast-paced lives.

For those familiar with the Spanish language seeking to hone their reading and listening skills through literature. Discover the literary readings of Latin American writers such as Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Mario Vargas Llosa as we explore how writers construct and deconstruct reality through some theory and textual analysis, working conscientiously and methodically with language to expand the boundaries of knowledge in imaginative ways through a subjective and critical perspective. The student will come to appreciate aspects of the creative writing process and what makes a piece successful. A Continuing Education parking permit is required to park on campus anytime Monday through Friday. Please print and place on your dashboard.
