THE BIKE HUB
This thesis proposes a car-free zone in Toronto’s Financial District , from Yonge to University and Dundas to Wellington. Central to this is ”The Bike Hub” with parking, repair and bike shops, and a café. The hub features bike capsules on different floors to encourage use. By enhancing cycling infrastructure, the project aims to make cycling attractive and accessible, promote a sustainable urban environment , and encourage more commuters to cycle to work.

ORIGINAL PROPOSAL LEA EL MAALOUF
The bike hub’s cylindrical design contrasts with the city’s rectangular buildings and complements City Hall To preserve the prominence of City Hall and the square, I positioned the hub adjacent to City Hall . By renovating the existing walkway , I created an access point into the hub , integrating it seamlessly without disrupting the square . This walkway connects to all the parking floors via a gently sloped ramp on the west end

The bike hubs serve three users : people who don’t own a bike, those needing secure parking, and delivery personnel. Non-owners can rent bikes from scattered stations or the hub. Bike owners get secure parking with storage options in designated capsules for regular and cargo bikes. Delivery personnel have spots for charging bikes, and access to changing, showering, resting, and maintenance facilities.

The house at 37 Bulwer Street uniquely incorporates the clients’ interests: the husband is a tennis player, and the wife is a gardener. The design reflects their passions and offers a comfortable, functional space. A key feature is the wide, spacious ramp linking all floors, facilitating easy movement between levels. The ramp also includes features that enhance the overall design of the house.

TABLE 5IVE
I designed and crafted a custom cherry wood table for my apartment’s couch, highlighting the wood’s rich hues and durability. The table is attractive and functional, shifting between two configurations and offering hidden storage . Using a biscuit technique , I reinforced the base with hardwood biscuits in carved grooves, ensuring smooth assembly, a seamless appearance, and enhanced stability while reducing warping.

HELICAL HOTEL
Our project at 460 King Street West in Toronto blends old and new architecture for an extraordinary hotel experience . A striking ramp from ground to roof promotes connectivity and highlights the contrast between contemporary and historic elements . By integrating the existing exterior with a glass façade , we preserve the site’s historical significance while fostering a sense of community and emphasizing the contrast between past and present.

We started with sketches to merge old and new , create an engaging focal point, and foster community. Resin represents the new hotel , while wood bark depicts the old building. The wooden spherical is the centerpiece. We blended ancient and new design objectives to create a fascinating focal point and a social atmosphere. With its ageless and interactive architecture, this model symbolises our design.
