Hello ... my name is Leah Hauptmann I am 23 years old and from Vienna, Austria. I was living and studying in the UK and graduated in May 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design at the University of Derby. I am now looking forward to work as an Interior designer.

Personally, I would describe myself as a free bird, exploring the world outside and searching for a new inspiration. As I grew up, my mother filled our house with a lot of love, good music and the chance to live out my creativity. Knowing that I can always come back home, it took me out into the world, which lead me to South America. I have not only travelled to the most beautfiul places I have ever seen but spent my time mostly working with children, which were deprived of education and care. This unforgettable experience thought me a lot about myself, about giving unconditionally but also how important a safe home, or even just a proper building where people come together, is. Working in a school, where there wasn‘t even a floor, despite from real walls or a water supply my desire to change something, starting with the interior design, grew bigger and bigger. For me being an interior designer is the possibility of changing the small world people like me and you are living in, into something beautiful and memorable.

Every person, every family is unique and so is their home. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) we spend more than 90 percent indoors. Our memories from the house we grew up in, the sofa we used to jump around and the chair we sit on everyday, is more than interior design. It is about that feeling you get when you first enter a place and the memories you create with your beloved ones.

Since I was young I loved to listen to people, to connect with the person in front of me. Figuring out his or her wishes always came naturally and felt easy. For me being creative is a passion not a job. Working as an Interior designer is more than I could ever imagine.

Sensory Spaces: What role can Design and Art play in connecting People and Place?

The main task of this project was to adapt an old building, which should be multifunctional, in the best possible way. Therefore, I choose a historical building called Pavillon des Amateurs which is placed in Vienna‘s second district. The building offers a variety of possibilities. Therefore Pavillon d’ama-teur should be accessible to the public, rather than private.

The Idea was to create a space where people can interact with art, sensory spaces and artists themselves while enjoying a drink in a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. Visitors are also offered three interactive exhibition rooms, a large bar and many cozy sitting areas to create a holistic experience for the visitors.

Pavillon d‘amateur embodies Scandinavian design, with influences from the Bohemian lifestyle, filled with classic interior pieces like the Bertoia Diamond Chair or the Eames dining chair.

T h e A r c h i t e c t u r a l L o o k o f t h e N o r t h Pa v i l l o n The symmetrically building, which has been built on one level also consists of upper and side light halls. The floor plan has a three-winged basic structure, the central risalit is a facade structure, it is considered as a typical design element of Renaissance and Baroque architecture and was used to create an imposing entrance and corresponding impression. The sculptor's studios are a European peculiarity, as the historic exhibition buildings of such architectural importance have been used for more than 130 years by influential contemporary artists. In addition, the special location of the Pavillon des Amateurs results in the recreation area Prater, the largest football stadium in the country, the Vienna horse racing track, the WU (the economic University) and the nearby subway station, that's what makes it unique.

tHe interative exhibtion Concept / Material Board / color palette / EXHIBITON PERSPECTIVES For my project I found it necessary that people can interact with different materials, sounds, emotions and other visitors who experience maybe something different while standing in the same room. I see no boundaries in the relationship between human and nature, therefore I choose as my main context for the three interactive exhibition Rooms the story of human and nature. My goal is to give the visitors the opportunities to fully immerse themselves and dive into a world of imagination and senses. I want to create three Rooms with different themes, it all starts with the room “Rebirth”, which leads us to “Deep Under” and brings us “Back to the Roots”.

Material Selection The Room ‘‘Back to the Roots‘‘ gives the visitor the opportunity to reconnect with nature, therefore the room will consist of different plants and trees with a tent inside to create the feeling of being deep in the jungle. The Tent allows groups to have private events in a very remarkable location. The main Materials are velvet, wool, silk and cotton. The Flooring will be out of Oak Wood. The rest of the Room will covered with Plants.

Concept / Material Board / color palette / Bar perspectives The Bar from Pavillon d‘amateur is set at the main area as a focus point, where everything and everyone comes togehter. The color palette is also taken into consideration of the bar design. The main materials are Terrazzo tiels, which are tilled in the form of the logo to connect the corporate design with the interior design. Other materials such as Natural oak timber, Brushed Steel and Polished Concrete combine the remaining elements. The result is a special bar for special customers.

tHE bAthroom signage / Material Board / Bathroom perspective / Main Room perspective / Design concept Different design elemens from the bar reflect in the bathroom concept. For example the main materials in the toilets will be Terrazzo and Concrete. The flooring will be out of Concrete and Terrazzo stone will be used as a washbasin. The tiles are like in the bar, tiled in Metro Style Form in the color Fresh Sage. The wall color is a light rose tone, which contrasts perfectly with the Matt dark grey sink and bathroom fixtures.

Indian Spirit

#2 when anna met Peya a indian restaurant with an electrifying mix of modern influences from the 21st century and authentic indian cuisine.

The main task of this project was to adapt a commercial property and turn it into a oriental looking restaurant. My design approach was to create an Indian restaurant which doesn‘t correspond to a clichéd oriental restaurant, but instead offers authentic Indian cuisine in a modern setting. The place is set in the heart of vienna‘s coolest district, Neubau. The name of the Restaurant is when Anna met Paya, Anna means food in Marathi and Paya drinks, so translated in English it basically means „when food met drinks“. Marathi is mainly spoken in the region of Maharashtra, also the food which will be served in the restaurant is from this region, thats how the idea of the restaurant‘s name occurred.

interior elevation/ rendered floorplan / bar elevation / restaurant perspective the design concept is a combination of colorful India pared with modern influences. Different highlights are set with orange, yellow and brown tones, such reminds of spices like curry, turmeric and cinnamon. The furniture will be covered in green velvet and the tables are out of mahogany wood.

The bar is the focal point of the restaurant, with the various old mirrors attached to the wall at the back of the bar, it should get a touch of nostalgia.

PATTERN COLLECTION bathroom tiles/ FLOORING / FABRIC design Oriental patterns are a big part or the interior design of the restaurant, these always following geometric guidelines. Three different patterns were developed for the restaurant, the flooring consists of two square tiles, which placed next to each other create another pattern.

For the toilets, tiles in the form of a hexagon and a triangle have been designed. And last but not least a modified pattern of the bathroom tiles can be rediscovered in the pillow covers.

When it comes to the represantation of the restaurant Anna met Peya the corporate design has the same design approach like the interior one. The corporate identity should represent a high quality restaurant with authentic Indian cuisine in a modern setting. The logo of Anna met Peya is kept simple, it is a combination of the letters and a purple square. The letters appear throughout the whole packaging, menu, napkins and service outfits.

The house wine of Anna met Paya is a Asia Cuvée 2018 - 0.75 liter, medium dry. It is an Austrian wine made in Vienna‘s 19th disrict, the winemaker is Mayer am Pfarrplatz.

I created a special label with the duotone effect. This emphasizes Asia in Asia Cuvee and is therefore suitable for an Indian restaurant.

#3 Han go ve r b ar The Hangover Bar is specialized for party people in Vienna and is determined to grant the most efficient recovery by providing a soothing surrounding and vitalizing refreshments.

This project covers the conception and elaboration of a new business model for a Hangover Bar in Vienna, it gives the opportunity to recover in a sourrounding which has a typical bar flair, which is loved by the Viennese. To create a cosy and relaxing atmosphere, where people can cure their hangovers, the former shoe factory Andreas Neider, located in the district Neubau was used and remodeled. The Factory was built by Oskar Neumann in 1905, the style of this building is Art Nouveau, which also will be included in the Interior design.

interior elevation / rendered floorplan / color selection / seating area perspective 3D mODEL For the interior design concept it was important to me that the existing architecture is not only taken into account, but also enters into a symbiosis with the new elements.The former shoe factory will be transformed into the Hangover Bar. The style of this building is Art Nouveau, to create a cosy and relaxing atmosphere the Art Nouveau as well as the industrial style and elements of the Scandinavian style, will be included into the interior design.

1r The color palette consists of basic and accent colors, cream tones and solid colors where used as basic colors. The accent colors were used for decoration, like bedding or other accessories. As the divider stands out in color, the walls of the factory are kept in a creamy white.

Hangover Bar / #3

Since the Hangover Bar has a Relax- and Bar Area and a terrace for people to enjoy the outside, it was important to keep the corridors and terrace door barrier-free. This factor was taken into considoration, while deciding where to place the bar. The result was to place the bar in the center, while the relaxing zones can be found on the right and left side of the room. The material concept consists of four main materials. The flooring will be out of Oak Wood, Concrete and Brushed Steel will appear in form of the bar and Terrazzo, already seen in the hallway of the building will be used as flooring for the toilets.

The Divider played an important role in the development of the interior concept and helped create different zones in the existing space. The room was basically separated into two areas, one of the them was the bar and common area, the c o n c e p t other one the relaxing area.

The divider was necessary to offer privacy and to create a cozy surrounding in the relaxing area. Since there is nothing better than a comfortable bed after a long night out, all of the seven bunks offer a bed and a TV including a Netflix account. An artist who contributed significantly to the visual design of the divider, is Piet Mondrian. During my time at Uni we often had courses in digital art, graphic design or learned how to create vector based Illustrations. Therefore, I could learn different techniques, which not only improved my work, but also lead to being more creative and passionate about it.

The birth of my niece Ella inspired me to create children's illustrations about a character I called â&#x20AC;&#x17E;Schwarzflieger Huhnâ&#x20AC;&#x153; and a travelling Lama from Peru. I printed those illustrations on jumpers and blankets for baby Ella.

Human by Nature

One of my projects, which has been very important for me was about creating something from the beginning till the end.

The title of my collection is called human by nature and as you can tell from the name it is all about the connection between human and nature and about creating something natural, without having a negative impact on the environment. The task given by my lecture was actually just about the printing method called copperplate engraving, which is a graphic gravure printing process. Therefore, we created a collection and different stamps, for me not only the printing itself was an importent part, but also the functionality of the product which got printed. My idea was to print my collection on different sized bee wax wraps, they act as a substitute for plastic wrap or aluminium foil, compared to those, they can be reused, are therefore environmentally friendly, much more hygienic and smell good at the same time. The prints consist of patterns of natural elements such as flowers and stones, like terrazzo.

This artwork is called natural senses and it combines two different things.

On the one hand, the photos portray three out of five senses, and all of our senses give humans the possibility to explore the environment and nature.

Not only can we explore the beauty of the mountains with our eyes, but also we can taste the salt of the sea with our lips and hear the chirping of birds with our ears. This work of art is intended to illustrate the relationship between human and nature.
