A Detour Through Rest, Hope, and Healing Sometimes you have to let go of the picture of what you thought it would be like and learn to find joy in the story you are actually living. -- Rachel Martin Hope is on the horizon for three beautiful women, but it was far from easy street and it didn’t come without sacrifice or a detour from what they thought would be the trajectory for their life. What I found most fascinating in learning about their individual stories was discovering the similar themes of bravery, hope, and gratitude during treatment and afterwards. A solid lesson was how vulnerability leads to real strength. They accepted the grief that came along with their diagnosis. They grieved, but then they began to fight. They took time to rest, heal, and, although hard to do, accepted help from others. I would like to introduce you to three Short Pump residents who all are breast cancer survivors. For Susan Bishop, Tara Daudani, and Limor Glazer-Schwam, their life surviving breast cancer didn’t come without a push for growth, an increased respect for gratitude, and a pause in everyday life as they knew it.
