LEAF Schools & Streets has served 57,000+ youth locally through residencies, workshops and interactive performances.

Annually Serving: 10 countries 300 + youth participants 17 Culture Keepers & Teaching Artists

Launched in 2006

LEAF International has served 1,300+ global youth connecting them to their traditions, artists, instruments, and costumes.

At LEAF Festival, LEAF Schools & Streets Resident and Visiting Teaching Artists (RTA/VTA) perform with students on each stage showcasing their music and art. VTAs spend time in local schools the week prior to LEAF Festival.

At LEAF Festival, a LEAF International program journeys to Asheville to conduct a cultural exchangeprogram in the local community; performances and connection opportunites take place on Festival grounds.

“I think social justice can be depressing sometimes, but LEAF reminds me of a book called Blessed Unrest, that shows you that people are really doing something about it. You know that’s happening but it isn’t mainstream; among the heavy sadness there can be joy and ways to get involved. Bringing people together, building community and also a fundraiser for more projects that put into effect the things that are being preached. There’s this movement toward enlightenment festivals where they talk about what needs to be done but then you wonder, what is actually happening? It’s good to see people willing to put themselves in challenging situation.”
