FOUNDER’S (DAUGHTER’S) NOTE

THIS WEEK WE GET A SURPRISE FOUNDER’S NOTE FROM OUR FOUNDER’S WONDERFUL DAUGHTER, JULY.

Since we ’ re homeschooled it can be hard to keep in touch with friends especially since we don’t see each other every day like public schoolers. So we really have to put in an effort to stay connected to friends. Here are a couple ways to keep in contact:

LIFETIME HOMESCHOOLER JULY O. IS A 14 YEAR OLD RESIDING IN NORTH TEXAS. SHE ENJOYS DANCE, VOLLEYBALL, AND STARBUCKS. SHE HOPES TO BE AN EDUCATOR ON THE MISSION FIELD AS AN ADULT.

AYDATES

n touch is to schedule playdates. It could be every epending on your family’s calender. A playdate is catch up with friends. It could be at someone ’ s the park! I remember a couple years ago, my other mily and mine went on a trip together to South ned ahead for it and without being homeschooled, n the middle of the week. Nor could we have done did like boating, visiting the aquarium, and going till friends and keep in touch.

LOCAL CLUBS/ACTIVITIES

Another way is to join other activities for homeschoolers. There are a lot in the DFW area. You an find game clubs, coding clubs, and book clubs. You and a friend can sign up together and bond there and even learn something new there. I remember how years ago LLA had a club called LitCh!cks where we would ead books over the month and then meet up to discuss t. We would also eat and hang out. It was so much fun o hang out and bond over a shared interest!

Lastly, a way to stay connected with your friends is to use a device to call/text them. Even if you don't have your own you can use a parent's with their permission. Once I was working on a crochet project and I couldn’t igure out how to do a certain part. I texted one of my riends and she helped me figure it out. It was really reat because without her I would’ve probably given up efore then.

o even though it may seem difficult you can do it and will take lots of practice. But good friends will always elp stay connected with you.

DINOSAUR FUN AND GAMES

This week at Tutorial, we started our dinosaur unit beginning with the Triassic period The learners got to learn all about the Ichtyosaurus and Coelophysis, which was the very first known dinosaur. The activities included experimenting with mediums such as sand, salt, coffee grounds, and flour The mixture makes the perfect consistency for molding a dinosaur egg that will harden around the dinosaur, but still be easily breakable. This activity continues next time, when the sensory mixture dries, and the learners get to see what happened with their hypotheses One of the reasons we include sensory activities at LLA that it can include all of our learners. The littles class got to come over and make their own eggs too, with more play and social skills incorporated into learning

In Logic club, we processes langu happens when some people have difficulties processing sounds and language? These are things we care about at LLA and we are always learning ways to understand one another. We also got to play logic puzzles and play games Thank you again Ms Brittany from Brighter Futures Educational Therapy

Best of all, the parents lounge was bustling with amazing refreshments, where moms got to relax and connect with fellow Tribe members

Although majority of homeschooling parents tend to be moms, we want to emphasize in this Women's Month edition, that dads are more than welcome to bring their learners to LLA and stay and enjoy our refreshments

We have several moms and dads and grandparents who sometimes use the extra space at our facility to work on their computer, while still being available for their kids during Tutorial time.

Don't forget, next Friday, March 29th, Tutorial will be on break and we will return on April 5th!
