MOMENTUM

Chief Coble attended the Leadership Tyler Executive Orientation Series when he first arrived in Tyler and has served our community through volunteerism, board service, and through his work as Fire Chief.
Some of his areas of service include Leadership Tyler Board Member, Catalyst 100 Advisory Board Member, Salvation Army Advisory Board Member, Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce Board Member, City of Tyler Liaison to Veteran Groups in Smith County, Mayor’s Mentorship Achievement Program, Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce Career Connections Event (C4) and the UT Tyler Career Success Conference.
Chief Coble was instrumental in guiding our community through the COVID 19 pandemic. For 8 weeks, Chief Coble began his morning with about 80 people who called-in, telecommuted, or showed up at Fire Station 1 for the daily Emergency Operations Center (EOC) meeting. Upon confirmation from NET Health that the virus was present in Smith County, City of Tyler Mayor Martin Heines and Chief Coble began
collaborating with NET Health and Smith County Judge Nathaniel Moran to set up the Joint EOC, a centralized command and control facility that coordinates emergency response at a strategic level during an emergency and ensures continuity of operations. This team ensured that first responders and medical staff had the proper funding, resources, and facilities available to fight the pandemic. Together Chief Coble, Mayor Heines, and Judge Moran directed the group of various interests and specialties all working to solve the same problem - limit the spread of COVID-19.
In the last 5 years, Chief Coble has received the following awards:
• Veretta and Jesse E. Rider, Sr. Leadership Award for Community Impact Empowerment Community Development Corporation, Dec. 2023
• In recognition of Strength, Persistence, and Confidence Achievement in Advancing the Safety and Health of the Community Greater East Texas Black Nurses Association, Inc, Oct. 2022
• W.T. Ballard - Excellence in Public Health Award Northeast Texas Public Health District July 2022
• Meritorious Service Rotary Club of Tyler, Oct. 2020
• Community Service Award Tyler Organization of Men Mar. 2020
• Volunteer of the Quarter Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce Nov. 2018
• Community Service Heart for Hearts Mission, Sept. 2018
Leadership Tyler is proud to honor Chief Coble for his dedication and service to the Tyler and Smith County Community!
Leadership Tyler exists to equip leaders to enhance the community and is highly proficient at doing that very thing. That said, it comes easy. It comes easy because Leadership Tyler is a group of like-minded people with diverse backgrounds and perspectives coming together to add value to our community. James Clear has said his “definition of greatness is to contribute more than you consume.” This simple approach to life is what drives Leadership Tyler.
As Tyler grows, so does Leadership Tyler. The Core Program is excited to welcome 42 new participants in Class 38. Our graduates now number more than 1,100 from our Core and EOS programs. Each of these alumni represents change makers across our community. From city leadership to nonprofit directors to corporate CEOs, Leadership Tyler counts it a privilege to play a part in shaping our local leaders and raising the bar on what it means to give back and drive forward.
Let’s do something absolutely amazing and become the best we are capable of becoming! LT is here to help and grateful to play its everincreasingly important role in this wonderful community. Here’s to the many great years ahead!
This outstanding group of leaders started their core program journey in September 2023 and through encouraging each other, working together, and a shared commitment, the entire class graduated at the State of the City Event held on May 23, 2024. We are excited to see the positive impact they will have on our community.
Thank you to board members Debby Gunter, Joshua Johnson, and LaToya Young for their service to Leadership Tyler and to our community. Each one brought unique talents to the LT Board and eagerly shared their expertise to guide Leadership Tyler to continued excellence.
Welcome to new board members Dawson Barksdale (LT Class 34), Alesha Williams Buckner (LT Class 21), and Whitney Patterson (LT Class 29). We are looking forward to getting them plugged into their board service.
Thomas Neuhoff - Class 33

Leadership Tyler is kicking off another year, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank our amazing alumni volunteers for pouring back into this program. Throughout the year with Core Program Class 37, alumni came alongside me to be sure the logistics of the days went off without a hitch. In addition, we just completed the selection process for Core Program Class 38 and used 58 volunteers to make that process happen! We truly cannot run this program without each and every one of you. So please accept my heartfelt thanks!
As Leadership Tyler graduates pour themselves into our community through all of their areas of service –not-for-profit board service, program volunteer efforts for many agencies through the city, giving back in so many ways they are too numerous to count, I am truly proud of this family of leaders and their devotion to our community. Our mission is to equip these leaders and along the way, help them find their place of service and giving. We are truly honored when they choose Leadership Tyler to also be one of those recipients.
Thank you for all that you do! We are grateful to be serving this community together!

“Catalyst 100 is a diverse group of individuals from a variety of backgrounds who come together to strategically plan and discuss how we can keep our community vibrant and successful in all areas for our future generations.”
Jeff Warr, Catalyst 100 Committee Member
By investing in the community’s current and future leaders, the Catalyst 100 vision is for a momentum of positive growth for our community to continue into the next century.
Catalyst 100 equips and develops community leaders by providing forums to:
• Network among a diverse group of leaders in our community with the common goal of growing our community for the benefit of everyone.
• Provide and receive leadership mentoring through small group discussion sessions held after each meeting of the entire group.
• Discuss issues and matters that have significant impact on the community, allowing members a “deeper” view into those issues and matters.
Members in Catalyst 100 are selected through a nomination process by committee. Potential members should show an interest in growing as a leader and a desire to make a positive contribution to the community. The full membership meets four times per year to hear experts on various topics that will impact our community long-term.
