2 Bids Received for Drilling On Possible Site of School
In Scouting Guy E. WiHaams, SS, who resided at 3» Burr Street, died unexpectedly about 9 last night in Odenfem, Md., where he wa« employed as a salesman for Korkay, Inc., which has an office in Johnstown. He had been employed as a salesman in the Odenton area for about four year*. Odenton is the headquarters for Korkay, Inc. r Mr Williams, who was active |n area Boy Scout work, was the husband of Mrs. Ellen Williams of 39 Burr Street. He had been in apparent good health. yf, Mr. Williams was born in .Gloversville on Dec. IS, 1911. . Prior to bis employment with Korkay, Inc., he was employed by the Gloversville office of the ' -Metropolitan Life Insurance '^Company for 17 years. ' Active in Boy Scout program ^for many years, Mr. Williams was commissioner of the Gloversville District of the Sir William Boy Scout Council in 1953. ••,, He was an Army veteran of EWorld KBT * « « = - — . - » Mr. Williams was a member •of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel ». Church. Survivors in addition to his wife include three sons, Robert .Williams of Schenectady. VFW Post To Back Two Teams The VFW post voted to sponsor two baseball teams in Gloversville yjwaz leagues during the coming season, at a meeting at the VFW Home last The post donated $145 for a team in the Gloversville Little League and $125 for a team in the American Legion League. Henry T. Baker was approved as a new member. Earl Carroll gave a report on the bingo games conducted during the past 26 weeks. Nelson Brockhum, chairman, reported that plans are being started for the annual Memorial Day parade. The entertainment committee reported plans have been completed for a dance for members and their guests to be held at 10 Saturday night. Music will be provided by the Pals of the Saddle. The post voted to continue membership in the Federated Clubs of Fulton County and the dues were ordered paid. Howard P. Retersdorf, director of the Fulton County Veterans Service Agency, informed members of the post there are bills in the Assembly and Senate to eliminate the service agency in the state. He urged the members to write to Assemblyman Glenn H. Harris and State Sen. Dalwin J. Niles to use their influence to defeat the bills now pending before the Assembly and Senate. The post voted to make a donation of $10 to the fund of the VFW Post at Chatham. The post home was destroyed by
