Welcome from the Director of Sport
Last week was another wonderful week in Seaford Sport, culminating in a memorable weekend with the Remembrance Service and the Old Seafordian Alumni sports events bringing together past and present Seafordians with some great matches across netball, touch rugby and hockey.

That sense of belonging has seamlessly carried into this week. There is a noticeable energy around the different sessions and a collective sense of purpose and optimism. We have moved from talking about being a good teammate to living it, with students showing genuine pride in representing Seaford. One student summed it up perfectly last week when they said, “Playing for the badge, Sir.” I loved that. It is simple, but it captures everything that matters when you feel part of a team.
This week my focus is optimism, and I cannot think of a better theme to follow. Progress in sport does not happen by luck or chance; it is driven by culture, belief and daily behaviours. I recently read the words of a behaviour expert who suggested that “optimism is often dismissed as naïve” But, in truth, optimism might be the ultimate performance tool. It expands what is possible by encouraging us to find solutions, not excuses. It fuels resilience, helping us bounce back stronger after setbacks. And it creates emotional connection, because optimistic teams and individuals generate belief, and belief soon becomes behaviour. That mindset has been visible in abundance this week. Across every session, there has been purpose and positivity (even during the huge downpours!) with students supporting one another, communicating well and showing a hunger to improve. Genuine student progress is made during these sessions, often unseen by many When speaking with your children about their sporting experiences, consider how you might reinforce optimism in those moments. Ask what went well before focusing on what could improve. Celebrate effort and attitude as much as the result. The way we talk about sport shapes how young people think about themselves and their potential – and optimism is the bridge between effort and achievement.
Looking ahead, we have another exciting weekend of fixtures and activities to enjoy. Families are warmly invited to come along, bring their children and support our senior teams on Saturday too. It is always a great atmosphere and a wonderful opportunity to see Seaford Sport at its best and inspire our younger student athletes by showing them what they can aspire to.
Your children are making exceptional progress in their formative sporting years here, and that growth does not come by chance. It is born from belief, hard work and optimism, qualities that are fast becoming the heartbeat of Seaford Sport.
Playing for the badge.

Wet Weather and Cancellations
As a team, we will always do everything within our control to ensure fixtures and recreational activities go ahead as scheduled. Any changes to the schedule will be communicated via the respective sports coaches and clarion call.
Dogs on the School Site
We are a dog-friendly site; however, can I remind all parents that dogs should always be on a lead while onsite, and should not be on the field of play. If challenged by a member of staff, please be polite, respect the campus rules and remember that the safety of our students is paramount.
Parents and Supporters – Code of Conduct
For our core values (RESPECT, TEAMWORK, COURAGE, TRUST) to be upheld and our sports programme to be truly successful, it takes the cooperation of all involved – players, coaches, officials, staff, spectators and parents. The College and the staff have spent some time and effort reinforcing these sporting values within Seaford, and we believe it is essential that we include parents and friends of the College in this process.
One of the key questions we ask all supporters to consider is:
‘How does our touchline behaviour shape character and enhance the enjoyment for all the players during the game?’
Please let the coaches coach so that you can enjoy the parental match day experience. As a team and a college, we value performance and desired learning behaviours over the scoreboard – win, lose or draw, it is about the experience and the students making memories with their friends. Thank you for your support with this! Successful College sport is built upon strong partnerships between the students, parents and the College.
We look forward to seeing you all on the sidelines, both home and away, and thank you for your continued support of the Seaford Sport programme.
