Seaford College SPORT

Saturday, 11th October, 2025

Welcome from the Director of Sport

This week’s edition comes to you a little later than usual – a testament to just how busy and varied the week has been across Seaford Sport. It has been one of those periods where the sheer breadth of activity reminds you just how much opportunity Seaford Sport provides. From academic success to adventure, and from fixtures to future planning, the days have been nonstop.

Let us start with something worth celebrating: the outstanding academic progress within PE. Under the diligent guidance of Mr Phimister, Miss James and the wider PE Department, our students continue to achieve remarkable outcomes. The value being added to their learning is exceptional – proof that our commitment to making our strengths stronger is not just a motto but a lived reality. The link between classroom learning and performance on the playing areas has never been more tangible, with our high challenge: high support environment

Thursday brought another milestone moment: our first-ever Seaford Climbing Competition, brilliantly led by the Outdoor Education Team. A huge well done to Mr Bolton and Mr Crabb for organising such a fantastic day. With around 200 students from 23 schools taking part, the atmosphere was incredible. It was a pleasure to be invited and to see Seaford taking another confident step into new sporting territory.

The school has also been alive this week with visiting families and prospective students. It is clear that Seaford Sport is firmly on the map. More and more families are recognising that sport here is not just an activity; it is a value-added experience that enhances everything else we do.

On a personal note, I have had a number of really positive conversations with parents this week, the kind that leave you feeling uplifted and motivated. These discussions reaffirm why we do what we do and inspire us to keep evolving Seaford Sport, continually asking how we can add even greater value for our students.

And that leads me to a question I would like to pose as we head into the weekend: what value are you going to add?

Whether you are a spectator offering encouragement, a coach recognising effort or a player showing trust in a teammate, adding value comes in countless forms. It could be as simple as thanking the referee for how they enabled the game to flow, or as powerful as reminding a young player that you believe in them. Every gesture matters.

So, let us make this weekend about that shared purpose, about consciously finding ways to lift one another and enrich the experience for everyone involved.

Until next week… keep adding value and keep making our strengths stronger.

Additional Medical Support

To continue to ensure that we are providing proactive, gold-standard care to our students, the school is in partnership with Return2Play, the UK’s leading sports medicine partners for schools. Feedback from other schools and parents utilising their expertise is strong, while our own experience has been overwhelmingly positive thus far.

I have attached a letter from the College outlining how to use this free service. If you have any queries regarding your account, then please get in touch with Return2Play directly via hello@return2play.org.uk and they will be happy to help. The helpdesk runs 7 days a week.

Wet Weather and Cancellations

As a team, we will always do everything within our control to ensure fixtures and recreational activities go ahead as scheduled. Any changes to the schedule will be communicated via the respective sports coaches and clarion call.

Dogs on the School Site

We are a dog-friendly site; however, can I remind all parents that dogs should always be on a lead while onsite, and should not be on the field of play. If challenged by a member of staff, please be polite, respect the campus rules and remember that the safety of our students is paramount.

Parents and Supporters – Code of Conduct

For our core values (RESPECT, TEAMWORK, COURAGE, TRUST) to be upheld and our sports programme to be truly successful, it takes the cooperation of all involved – players, coaches, officials, staff, spectators and parents. The College and the staff have spent some time and effort reinforcing these sporting values within Seaford, and we believe it is essential that we include parents and friends of the College in this process.

One of the key questions we ask all supporters to consider is:

‘How does our touchline behaviour shape character and enhance the enjoyment for all the players during the game?’

Please let the coaches coach so that you can enjoy the parental match day experience. As a team and a college, we value performance and desired learning behaviours over the scoreboard – win, lose or draw, it is about the experience and the students making memories with their friends. Thank you for your support with this! Successful College sport is built upon strong partnerships between the students, parents and the College.

We look forward to seeing you all on the sidelines, both home and away, and thank you for your continued support of the Seaford Sport programme.
