2023
message from the chairperson
Hello and welcome to the new year! 2023 is here in our LC Valley! My name is Christy Armstrong, and I am the newly elected Chairperson for YOUR Lewis Clark Valley Chamber of Commerce. To say that I am thrilled and honored to be a part of this amazing organization is an understatement. As my involvement in the chamber has grown, I have found myself, amazed, astonished, and welcomed by this great community who have given me the opportunity to grow professionally and personally. I am privileged as Chairwoman to continue to grow alongside some very talented and gifted people here in this valley.
What is the definition of a Chamber of Commerce? Well, I looked it up! (Thankful for google)
Per Investopedia.com, “A chamber of commerce is an association or network of businesspeople designed to promote and protect the interests of its members. This leads me right into YOUR Lewis Clark Valley Chamber of Commerce mission statement, “The mission of the Lewis Clark Valley Chamber of Commerce is to Serve, Lead, and be the Voice of our Members.”
Recently I attended a workshop about the power of words. Powerful words can activate the brain, hold you accountable and can give you a well-lit clear path, a specific direction and provide clarity. When I read our mission statement the “power” words that stand out for how our chamber community operates are big and full of intention and passion. As I look at our chamber board of directors, staff, ambassadors, and workforce committees in the past and upcoming; all these individual leaders have truly grasped what I believe these power words to be! Serve, Lead and Voice….
In the workshop we were encouraged to look up our power word definitions and how they resonated within us. The Dictionary from Oxford Languages say, “Serve”: A verb, perform duties or services for others. “Lead”: A verb, show someone the way to a destination by going in front or beside them. “Voice”: A Noun, an agency by which a particular point of view is expressed or represented.
As we go forward in this upcoming year, I am very excited and extremely passionate about keeping the chamber “Power” words moving in a positive forward-thinking path for all our members. I hope you take advantage of getting to better know your board of directors, the awesome staff or other members that are part of this great organization. I encourage you to attend at least one workshop, event or luncheon sponsored by YOUR Lewis Clark Valley Chamber of Commerce. I will be reaching out to get to know you if we have not met yet and encourage you to introduce yourself to me or any of the board of directors and, staff members. We would love to talk with you about your needs, concerns, and vision for the valley that we all call our home!
We Rise by Lifting Others!
