Loudoun County SchoolBusiness Partnership
We extend our deepest appreciation to all the businesses and organizations that have generously invested their time, energy, and resources in partnering with Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS). The 20242025 school year is guided by the theme “Together We Thrive,” which reflects the collaborative spirit and shared dedication of our community to empower, enrich, and engage students and families.
In alignment with Dr. Spence’s “One LCPS: Forward Together” Post-Entry Plan, these partnerships support our collective vision of preparing students for college, career, and military readiness. The plan serves as a strategic roadmap to ensure every student is equipped with the tools, skills, and opportunities needed to succeed in today’s ever-changing world.
Since its establishment by the School Board in 1990, the School Business Partnership Executive Council has played a vital role in fostering meaningful connections with community partners. Together, we have created innovative opportunities that inspire and prepare students for success. One shining example of this collaboration is the Job-For-A-Day program. This initiative provides 11th and 12th grade students with valuable career exploration through one-day job shadowing experiences in a variety of industries. Over the years, thousands of students have benefited from this program, gaining real-world insights into careers, workplace expectations, and future pathways. Businesses have had the opportunity to mentor future talent, strengthen community ties, and promote their industries to the next generation of professionals.
The work of the Executive Council demonstrates the power of partnerships to create lasting impact. Through initiatives supported by the Council such as career expos, apprenticeship fairs, and authentic learning experiences, our business and industry partners have actively enriched the educational journey of our students. This year, “Together We Thrive” is more than a theme; it is a call to action to deepen current collaborations, welcome new partners, and re-engage those who share our commitment to student success.
Today’s celebration, the partners seated alongside our schools and those honored this morning, stand as proof of the power of these partnerships! We invite you to continue this journey with us, inspiring colleagues in your networks to begin or expand partnerships with LCPS. Together, we can foster long-lasting collaborations and build even stronger bridges between education and industry.
Thank you for your continued partnership and dedication. We look forward to thriving together this school year and beyond!
With gratitude,
The School-Business Partnership Executive Council

2025 Make A Difference Award Honoree
Flags of Valor, Potomac AFCOM, Jen Andos, Loudoun Economic Development, Loudoun Education Foundation in partnership with the Office of Social Sciences & Global Studies, Community Engagement, 37 Elementary Schools
The Together in Remembrance event, launched by Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) in May 2024, stands as a perfect example of how beautifully developed curriculum, in partnership with community organizations, can create meaningful educational and commemorative experiences. Held across 37 elementary schools and engaging over 3,100 first-grade students, this initiative integrated hands-on learning and curriculum-based lessons to honor Memorial Day.
Central to the event was a flag-building activity that allowed first-grade students to build wooden American flags using kits provided by Flags of Valor, a veteran-owned business led by Brian Steorts. The experience was further enriched by the participation of fifth-grade students, Veterans, active-duty service members, and other community members who collaborated to assemble the flags. These flags were proudly displayed at the 37 participating LCPS schools over Memorial Day weekend and were later gifted to Veterans through various organizations, creating a lasting legacy of respect and unity. As Elizabeth Little, a Legacy first-grade teacher, remarked, "As the daughter of a Service Member, Together in Remembrance allowed us to show our students the importance of Memorial Day.
The success of this groundbreaking initiative was made possible by a wide network of partnerships and collaboration across LCPS departments and community stakeholders. Led by the Division of Teaching and Learning and the Division of Community Connections, along with partners Jen Andos and Nancy Evanko, this initiative saw contributions from numerous business and industry partners, including the AFCOM Potomac Chapter, Loudoun Economic Development, Google, HITT, Rosendin, Paperfish Creative, Sabey Data Centers, and many more. The support from these partners enabled both the logistical and educational aspects of the event to thrive, making it an inspiring example of how community collaboration enhances student learning.
In addition to the hands-on flag-building activity, students across all elementary grade levels engaged in lessons aligned with the LCPS Social Science and Global Studies curriculum. These lessons explored the origins of Memorial Day, the significance of honoring those who have sacrificed for our freedoms, and the various ways communities commemorate this important day. This thoughtful integration of academic enrichment and experiential learning transformed the "Together in Remembrance" event into a holistic educational experience. The Together in Remembrance event will continue this year, further strengthening its role as a cornerstone of community engagement and education in LCPS.
2025 Legacy Award Honoree ManTech
The Loudoun School Business Partnership Executive Council’s Legacy Award recognizes partnerships that have exhibited a continued devotion to Loudoun County Public Schools. ManTech’s contributions to workforce development initiatives have impacted LCPS students across multiple schools throughout the history of their partnership.
ManTech International is the ideal recipient of the Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) School Business Partnership Legacy Award due to its transformative and enduring impact on students through the DFEND Internship Program. Created by David Mack, this program has become a model of corporate and educational partnership by equipping students with real-world experiences and career readiness skills in the field of cybersecurity. Since its inception, the DFEND Internship Program has provided over 104 Academies of Loudoun students with paid summer internships, resulting in 16 full-time hires. One of the program's most notable features is the sponsorship of highlevel security clearances, which offers students a unique competitive advantage in the workforce. ManTech has made substantial financial investments in the program, which includes the costs associated with obtaining security clearances for interns, demonstrating the company's long-term commitment to both national defense and workforce development.
This program has had a profound impact on students by immersing them in a corporate environment where they develop critical workplace readiness and technical skills. These experiences offer invaluable preparation for both college and future careers, providing a strong foundation for success in highly competitive industries. For ManTech, the program serves as a strategic pipeline for future talent. Interns bring fresh perspectives and enthusiasm, enhancing the company’s capacity to innovate and remain at the forefront of cybersecurity. This mutually beneficial partnership exemplifies ManTech’s dedication to nurturing the next generation of professionals.
In addition to workforce preparation, ManTech supports educational advancement through a partnership with Purdue University’s Online Global program. This initiative allows former DFEND interns to work full-time while pursuing a bachelor’s degree online, with ManTech covering the cost of their education. By removing financial barriers and providing career growth opportunities, ManTech ensures that students are well-positioned for long-term success. ManTech’s sustained contributions to LCPS through the DFEND Internship Program, full-time employment opportunities, and educational partnerships highlight its commitment to student achievement, workforce development, and community enrichment.
For these reasons, ManTech exemplifies the vision of the School Business Partnership Legacy Award and is a highly deserving honoree for 2025.
2025 J. Hamilton Lambert Award Honoree
Lewis Parker
Lewis Parker’s unwavering commitment to education and dedication to both student success and teacher recognition have earned him the esteemed J. Hamilton Lambert Award. His contributions to Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) encompass both science and world language education, demonstrating a deep understanding of the importance of supporting learning across disciplines. Parker’s support for science education began with the establishment of the Willowcroft Science Scholarship in 1991, which he later endowed to provide long-term opportunities for students and teachers alike. His advocacy for science education is further reflected in his regular support of the LCPS Regional Science & Engineering Fair. Parker has expressed his belief that science holds the key to the future, emphasizing the importance of inspiring students with an interest in the field and recognizing the educators who guide them.
Mr. Parker has also made significant strides in advancing world language education within LCPS. He created the Willowcroft World Language Scholarship to support students seeking immersive experiences that strengthen their language proficiency. Additionally, he funded a Dual Language Immersion Summer Science Fiesta to help bilingual students maintain their language skills during the summer months. These initiatives have had a profound impact, with one student noting that the experience was life-changing and influenced their decision to pursue further studies in Spanish and International Relations.
Mr. Parker’s dedication to education is further exemplified through his recognition of teachers who have made a difference in students' lives. He offers awards to educators nominated by scholarship recipients, honoring their vital contributions to student growth and learning. Parker’s words of admiration for teachers, stating, "I'm not doing much. You are all the true heroes," reflect his deep respect for the teaching profession. His philanthropic efforts continue to inspire both students and educators, creating lasting opportunities for academic success and personal growth, making him a worthy recipient of this distinguished award.
Lewis Parker's impactful contributions to education have been further amplified through his longstanding partnership with the Loudoun Education Foundation (LEF). By collaborating with LEF, he has helped expand access to scholarships, innovative programs, and teacher recognition initiatives, ensuring that his support reaches even more students and educators across the county. This partnership has enabled Mr. Parker to align his philanthropic vision with the foundation’s mission to enhance educational opportunities in LCPS. Together, they have built a legacy of excellence, fostering a culture of academic achievement, community support, and educational innovation that will benefit generations to come.
