Varsity Club Super Bowl Celebration For a $3.00 donation, students purchase a ticket during their lunch period and guess the winning team and score of Super Bowl LIII. $5.00 will earn them three guesses plus a chance for a Blue Tooth package. With that donation of $3.00 or $5.00 comes a full casual dress day for sporting their favorite team colors (or any colors they like!) and attire on Friday, February 1. The student from each class who has picked the winning team and the closest score will receive a team shirt of his or her choice.

All proceeds will go to Veterans’ Victory House, a transitional living facility in Lancaster for homeless veterans and their families.

Rachel’s Challenge Rachel’s Challenge exists to equip and inspire individuals to replace acts of violence, bullying, and negativity with acts of respect, kindness, and compassion.

Rachel’s Challenge is based on the life and writings of Rachel Joy Scott who was the first victim of the Columbine school shootings in 1999.

Through her example, Rachel’s Challenge is making a positive impact in the lives of millions of people every year.

Rachel’s Challenge will be at Lancaster Catholic High School on Wednesday, February 13th for an in-school assembly as well as for an evening assembly that all parents are invited to. The evening assembly will take place in the LCHS Cafeteria at 6 PM and child care will be provided.

Rachel’s inspiring story provides a simple, yet powerful example of how small acts of kindness and acceptance motivate us to consider our relationships with the people we come in contact with every day. Rachel’s story gives us permission to start our own chain reaction of kindness and compassion, which positively affects the climate in our schools and communities.

A few weeks after the tragedy, Darrell Scott, Rachel’s father, spoke to a Congressional House Judiciary Committee regarding issues of school violence. Shortly afterwards, he founded “Rachel’s Challenge”, a bullying and violence abatement program.

More than two million students annually experience Rachel’s Challenge and have the opportunity to accept the challenges, modeled after Rachel’s life and writings. Students in the United States and several other countries have heard the universal message of kindness and compassion through Rachel’s story.

Dear Parents, Guardians & Host Families of Juniors and Seniors, We are happy to announce that Prom 2019 will be held on Friday, May 3, 2019 from 5:00PM until 10:00PM in the Courtyard at the Eden Resort & Inn. The Prom is open to all Juniors and Seniors of Lancaster Catholic High School.

The cost for Prom this year is $60 per person. Tickets must be purchased between April 1 st and April 22nd . Students who purchase their tickets during the first five days of sales will receive a $10 discount per ticket. Prom reservations will be taken electronically through a link that will be made available April 1 st ; tickets may be paid for by credit card or via check made payable to LCHS. When students purchase tickets, they must also select their meal choice. All dietary restrictions must also be reported at that time.

Prom is both a formal event and a teachable moment. We partner with you in teaching our young people what it means to attend a formal dinner and dance.

Gentlemen are expected to wear a tuxedo and ladies are to wear gowns. Gentlemen are expected to remain in their jackets throughout dinner. Ladies are to wear modest gowns, reflecting the dignity that is theirs as a Child of God and the virtues we teach at home and in school. Any gown with exaggerated slits, plunging necklines, backs that plunge to the rear end or revealed midriffs are absolutely unacceptable. Additional requirements can be found at the bottom of this letter.

In an effort to be proactive, students are urged to contact Mrs. Hockley or Mrs. Howe if there are questions about the appropriateness of attire. Students who choose to disregard the requirement for modest attire will sit with a chaperone until a parent can bring more suitable attire. This requirement also applies to guests of our students and so should be communicated to any guests. As a formal dance, and as an extension of our commitment to modeling the virtues, modesty must also be demonstrated in appropriate dancing and behavior.

As has become custom, parents are welcome to take pictures at The Eden between 5PM and 5:30PM. Students will enter at 5:30PM and proceed through a receiving line prior to dinner at 6PM. Dancing will take place between 7PM and 10PM. Students will not be permitted to go to their cars once they have entered the Prom. Students may leave at any time, but may not return after leaving. Students who wish to leave the Prom before 9PM will need to sign out with a chaperone.

Juniors and Seniors are permitted to bring guests under the following conditions: the guest is a Junior or Senior at another high school OR the guest is a college student or gainfully employed AND who does not exceed 20 years of age as of the day of Prom. Additionally, guests will need approval from the Prom Coordinators and Vice-Principal, Mrs. Adrienne Howe, by completing and submitting a guest form. Guest forms will be available beginning March 1 st and must be submitted with a copy of photo ID that includes the guest’s date of birth. Tickets for a guest may only be purchased after the guest form has been approved by Mrs. Howe. All guests are subject to any and all discipline policies of Lancaster Catholic and the LCHS student will be held accountable for his or her guest’s behavior.

In the interest of student safety, all school drug and alcohol policies will be enforced. Any violations will be dealt with according to school policy. Please be advised that Catholic High will be administering random breathalyzer tests to students. Any bags brought to the dance will be subject to search. Bags other than handbags will be kept in a secure area and are also subject to search.

Campus Ministry Update During the week of February 4th, Campus Ministry will be hosting an optional panel discussion concerning the Grand Jury Report.

The two opportunities for discussions will happen Monday, February 4th and Friday, February 8th, during Crusader Periods. The Junior and Seniors will meet during first Crusader Period and the Freshman and Sophomores will meet during second Crusader Period.

This is not required of any student, but is an opportunity for students to ask questions and get information on the impact of the report on the church and the actions being taken by the local and national church. The panel will include Fr. Arena, the Chaplain, Art Bamert, the Director of Campus Ministry, Mr. Terry Klugh, the Principal, Mrs. Kathy Alton, Department Chair of Theology at Lancaster Catholic, and Mr. Tim Hamer, the President.

will host the regional PACAC college fair on Thursday, March 14, 2019 from 8:30 - 11:00 a.m. This is a great opportunity for juniors to visit with Admissions Counselors from many different schools.

Purple & Gold Gala- Class Raffle Baskets As we prepare for the 5th Annual Purple & Gold Gala on Saturday, April 6, 2019, it important to remember that the proceeds raised support all aspects of your student's education at LCHS. This includes academics, athletics, Campus Ministry, fine & performing arts and tuition assistance. That is why it is imperative that we have 100% family participation in support of this event.

As we did last year, we will be conducting on on-line raffle open to everyone and will be on-line through the month of March with winners being selected and notified after the final performance of the spring musical, "Big Fish", on Sunday, March 31, 2019.
