ATMOSPHERIC ENCOUNTERS
As someone who sees research and design as inseparable, essays, analysis, and other research is woven into my portfolio. Projects outside of academia , including an exhibition, event covers, and installations. continue my research interests as well as my commitment to working with small communities.
RISD - SPRING 2017 CHRIS BARDT
This collection of projects is intended to provide the framework for future research on “atmospheres” in architecture. Project 01 looks at transnational atmospheres and indigenous practices, while Project 05 examines how designing with atmospheres provokes ecological consciousness. My fascination with “atmospheres” began as an undergraduate in Project 02, where a connection to th cosmos was used to challenge suburban postmodernist constructs. Since then, I have since looked into the kinetics of the sun in Project 03, and studied atmospheres and infrastructures in Project 04, and in my Addendum.
