COMMUNITY Spanning 635 acres, Pawleys Island, South Carolina is a rural community located on the coast on a barrier Island that has the same name. Lowcountry Preparatory School is a private institution serving students in grades K-12. The school is located in one of the state's most historic areas. The student body is .2% Hispanic, 0.5 % African American,99.6% white, .2% Asian and .2% Bi-racial.

CURRICULUM

The academic program is organized on a traditional yearlong schedule. Six credits per year is the maximum course load. Students take six 55 minute classes. Additionally, students attend one study hall session.

Lowcountry Preparatory School is in compliance with the South Carolina Uniform Grading Policy. However, we support the belief that class rank is not a true measure of performance and does not meaningfully distinguish students of a small class size in a highly competitive academic environment. Our class size is under 20, therefore we respectfully request college admissions to review our stringent curriculum and high rate of AP enrollment as indicative of our deep talent pool.

Grade Point Average (GPA) Calculation Cumulative GPA is computed using the above quality points from a 5.00. Beginning with grade eight, all subjects taken for high school credit, whether passed or failed, are included in the computation. A minimum of 24 credits is required for graduation. Honors are weighted by .5 and AP and Dual Enrollment classes are weighted by 1 quality point. Grades are recorded on the transcript in May.
