In December, students auditioned for their Lion King roles. In January, students assigned principal roles began rehearsals in the classroom with Mrs. Areias. They met for 5 Monday rehearsals. The chorus joined in for the last 5 rehearsals along with our fantastic student teacher/ assistant director, Layla Villarreal Hernandez. We also moved rehearsals to the stage at that time. So in all, our students only spent 10 Mondays working on the show. They were responsible for learning their lines and lyrics at home so they were ready to go in class. We also had a group of technical students that were led by our amazing Art Teacher, Kellie Bruce. They created all the technical aspects you are seeing tonight. They painted the rocks, created the backdrop, the leaves, the costumes, the animal ears, drums, fire torches, etc… This show with a little guidance from our team is student generated. They have done such an amazing job and learned so many aspects of production throughout the journey. We hope you enjoy this story in the great African Savanna.
