SCHOOL UNIFORM
LISTS & INFORMATION

Oundelians should always be tidily and suitably dressed. All regulation clothing, except for items marked in bold, is supplied through Schoolblazer and must be obtained online at www.schoolblazer.com Each article must be named with the child’s full name and House and to aid this, a name tagging service for each item is provided free of charge by Schoolblazer.
Oundle has two styles of School regulation uniform; the culotte uniform which is commonly worn by girls and the trouser uniform which is commonly worn by boys. Our aim is for all pupils to feel comfortable in what they are wearing and we have a sensitive and inclusive approach for any child wishing to wear the uniform that feels right for them.
All uniform should be worn in accordance with the Oundle Code and the School Rules and there must be no mix or matching across the key components of the two uniforms. School uniform must be worn at all evening occasions, concerts, debates, lectures, etc., unless otherwise indicated.
* Culottes must fall to the ankle bone and no longer. Please ensure correct length is ordered as culottes which are worn too long cause a danger of tripping.
** Mandated for Scott House and The Berrystead pupils and advised for all other pupils.

Please note that for day pupils, the number of items required is simply a guide and parents should feel free to purchase whatever is required for their own circumstances. There is also a thriving preloved uniform shop, detailed on page 11, which can provide additional items where required.
All regulation clothing, except for items marked in bold, is supplied through Schoolblazer and must be obtained online at www.schoolblazer.com. Items of clothing can be bought during term time from www.schoolblazer.com and can be delivered directly to Houses. There is usually a free delivery period early July: shopping early helps ensure that your items will be in stock and dispatched in good time.
This link: www.schoolblazer.com/how-to-shop explains how the shopping and ordering process works, while also covering the common FAQs that parents have.
Pupils from First Form to Fifth Form may only wear the School regulation navy jumper, purchased through Schoolblazer. Sixth Formers may purchase a v-neck jumper, either long-sleeved or sleeveless, from any supplier as long as it is a plain knit and with no obvious logo or branding. Permitted colours are navy or light pastel blue, maroon or light pastel pink, and dark or light grey as indicated in the guide chart. Other colourways, cardigans or any other style such as crew or scoop neck are not permitted. For boarders, the jumpers must be machine washable and tumble driable.
Please note there is limited storage in Houses and therefore casual clothing brought to School must not be excessive. Casual wear may be worn after lessons, at the HSM’s discretion. Casual wear may be worn on Saturdays after sport and on Sundays after morning Chapel. It may be appropriate on other occasions, with the permission of the HSM. A certain decorum should be observed in the choice of casual wear. It should not be calculated to shock, or be scruffy or dirty. Casual wear that is deemed to be unsuitable will be confiscated. Any item that is not machine washable and tumble dryable will not be accepted in boarding Houses. All items should be named; any unnamed items may be named by Matron at a cost.
Smart change may be worn to performances in the Stahl Theatre, concerts and such like on occasions when announced. Smart change consists of either a modest dress/ skirt/trousers with a smart top/jacket or a shirt, tie, jacket and trousers. All should be of sober colour. Shoes should be leather not canvas or trainers. Jeans and leather garments are not permitted. Only one set of smart change need be brought to School. All items must be named.
Formal dress is worn in Chapel on Sunday, on journeys for interviews and by parties leaving Oundle, unless special instructions have been given to the contrary. Coats should not be worn to Chapel.
Culotte Uniform: Formal dress consists of the School navy jacket (either crested or Sixth Form style depending on year group), navy striped culottes and white regulation shirt.
Trouser Uniform: Formal dress consists of either the School navy blazer and grey trousers or a smart suit which is dark in colour. Either option should be paired with a white shirt, School or House tie and smart black leather shoes. Suede shoes are not acceptable.
In addition to the curriculum sports kit, pupils may require other items of kit or equipment for various sports as they progress through the School, including First Team or Tour Wear. These items can generally be purchased from Schoolblazer online and details of what to buy and when will be given at the time by the relevant Head of Sport. If you are in doubt about whether an item is needed or not, it is better to wait and buy later. A bag for sports kit is essential and an Oundle School Duffle Bag is available through Schoolblazer. All bags should be labelled clearly on the outside.
All pupils must have a gum shield. OPRO offer a home impression kit service which can be ordered at any stage.
CCF clothing is not needed until the Fourth Form and is provided by the Armoury.
We are pleased to operate a preloved uniform shop through FOLSS (Friends of Laxton, Sadler and Scott House) which is located in The Acre, off Milton Road. Details of dates of sales are published in the parent portal.
Any queries re preloved uniform sales should be directed to: folssoundle@gmail.com.
All clothes, including casual wear, must be named with the pupil’s name and House (see below). Schoolblazer provide a free name-taping application service using specialist permanent printed nametapes. These are sewn on at point of order and any residual nametags are shipped with the order. A charge will be made for marking any clothing brought back to School unnamed. A supply of spare nametapes must be sent with the pupil’s clothes for use on new garments bought locally, but please keep some nametapes at home for items bought in the holidays.

Parents of pupils in The Berrystead and Scott House are reminded that it will be necessary to re-name all items of their child’s clothing with the appropriate mark for the Senior House once in Third Form.
This is important to us and we urge all parents and pupils to shop with it in mind, especially when choosing Sixth Form wear. We encourage pupils to be critically curious when shopping for garments and to do due diligence on supply chains as well as laundry temperature and drying requirements. Our uniform supplier, Schoolblazer, is the only independent schoolwear retailer to be accredited as members of the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) and is working to the objective of building sustainability into each product, whilst setting targets across the areas of Sustainable Cotton, Recycled Polyester, Single Use Plastics, Carbon Neutrality, Clean Waste Water. More information can be found on the Schoolblazer website: www.schoolblazer.com.
With the support of Schoolblazer and other parties, we have a ‘Zero to Landfill’ approach for all School uniform and sports kit.
1) We support the running of a preloved uniform sales shop in The Acre.
2) We work with a charity to recycle all legacy sports kit which is no longer regulation kit but still serviceable.
3) We have a partnership with Avena to recycle all School uniform clothing items which are too stained or damaged to sell.
Every effort has been made to keep these clothing requirements to a minimum. Parents of boarders are particularly asked not to pack extra items that are unnecessary and cause storage problems. A large soft bag or trunk is required for packing and should be clearly marked. A tuckbox may also be brought to School, but is not essential.
Please check with individual House matrons with regards to personal bedding/duvet covers. Please also bring to School two large towels (not bath sheets), with securely fastened loops for hanging in the middle of one long side. Towels are available from www.schoolblazer.com if required.
Laundry Temperature: The School Laundry washes by standard mechanical processes. It does not wash pupils’ clothing by hand. All pupils’ clothing must be capable of being washed at temperatures between 40° and 60° centigrade, with the exception being badly stained sportswear and Infection Control Measures which are washed at 80° centigrade.
Please note that we cannot accept responsibility for damage caused to garments by the laundry process and request that pupils ONLY bring items of clothing that can be machine-washed and tumble-dried.
