59 Stock Rams

59.1 Vendor’s warranty - The vendor warrants that any ram sold as a stock ram for the amount in paragraph (j) of the Appendix or more is capable of and effective at natural service. This warranty is a 10 week warranty.

59.2 Purchaser’s rights - If the purchaser proves a breach of warranty then the purchaser may return the ram to the vendor who shall, at the purchaser’s option, either replace the ram with another ram of equal value which is capable of and effective at natural service, or refund the purchase price together with such costs and charges as the purchaser may be entitled to under these Conditions. Notice of a claim must be supported by a veterinary surgeon’s certificate confirming that:

(a) the ram’s incapacity or ineffectiveness is not the result of injury, accident or illness happening after the time of the sale: and

(b) the purchaser’s breeding stock are not responsible for the ram’s incapacity or ineffectiveness.

55 Female Sheep Proving Barren

55.1 Vendor’s warranty – The vendor warrants that any female sheep sold as being in lamb is in lamb at the time of sale. This warranty is a 21 day warranty

55.2 Purchaser’s rights - If the purchaser proves a breach of warranty he may exercise his rights under Condition 66. Notice of a claim must be supported by a veterinary surgeon’s certificate.

EXPORT NOTICE

As of 1st January 2021, Lawrie & Symington Limited are not able to offer direct export for sheep due to new exporting rules. If you are a buyer from Northern Ireland, Eire, or the European Union then sheep cannot be moved direct from a sale. It is the responsibility of of the Vendor and/or Purchaser to make the necessary arrangements. Please consult the vendor to check if they are willing to assist with this and what cost will be involved.

In working together, all members, the Society employees and Council representatives must respect each other ’s role in maintaining this p edigree within the domestic and world market

From time to time, you may exper ience issues or concerns regarding your membership or services that you engage in, and this code of conduct outlines the correct process a member should follow to gain a resolution to any difficulties they are experiencing.

The Code also outlines on a day -to- day basis the usual expec tations that employees, members and Council representatives should expect, using the ad age –

If any party goes against any of these codes, then a full investigation will be initiated through the Complaints Committee (Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary) with the view to addressing the situation through the Disputes and Disciplinary committee to reach an outcome. The process being duly followed, the decision of the committee is final.

For avoidance of any doubt these include, but are not exclusive to, written or verbal abuse, intimidation, harassment, bullying, attempted or actual physical vi olence, and damage to property; any action that may bring the S ociety, Directors, Employees or Membership into disrepute will not be tolerated.

Any member, connected or not to the incident, witnessing any act that violates the code should in the first instance report this to the CEO or a member of the Society Council . Any contravention of the code will be dealt with by the Disciplinary Committee on a case -by-case basis, and sanctions to the privileges of membership of The Society will be imposed depending on the severity in nature of the incident. These may include, but are not limited to, being barred from Society sales or having their membership revoked.

FOR THE ATTENTION OF ALL VENDORS AT SOCIETY SALES

To protect the integrity of the breed it is important that sheep presented at Society events represent the best the Suffolk can offer. With this in mind members’ attention is drawn to the following:

1. ARTIFICIAL COLOURING - Bye Laws

16.14 No artificial colouring of hair on heads/legs, dressing, bleaching or chemical agent (except Department of Environment, Fisheries and Rural Affairs’ approved and recognised show dip and colourless oil on the head) shall be used on or applied to sheep entered for such show. If any sheep is found by the Inspectors or veterinary surgeons to have been artificially coloured:

16.14.1 The owner shall upon being so required by the stewards forthwith remove such sheep and all other sheep in the same consignment from the Society Sale and the sale ground.

16.14.2 The matter shall be referred by the Secretary to the Disputes and Disciplinary Committee pursuant to Articles 45 and 46 of the Society’s Articles of Association

2. HAIR SAMPLES - Hair samples will be taken randomly by the veterinary surgeon(s) or Society representatives. A number of these will be selected at a later date and tested under clinical conditions for non-approved artificial colouring. Where found, the breeder will be notified in writing of the findings and banned from entry into any Society Sale or Society Show held during the next calendar year.

3. INCORRECT MOUTHS/TESTES - The veterinary surgeons will, without limitation, inspect for correct mouths and evidence of mouth tampering and, in the case of rams, testes. Any sheep which is not approved by the Inspectors and/or veterinary surgeons shall upon being so required by the stewards forthwith remove such sheep and shall not be entered at any other Society sale and cannot be registered with the Society. The decisions of the Inspectors and veterinary surgeons on all such matters are and shall be final and binding, and (in the absence of bad faith) without any responsibility or liability on their part.

4. LOT NUMBERING OF SHEEP – Bye Laws

16.13.3 that all sheep must be marked with their catalogue number prior to arrival at the sale using Red Marker ink, sheep marked with any other colour risk being rejected at inspection.
