GENERAL INFORMATION AND NOTES

1. The Sale is to be conducted at Lanark Agricultural Centre on Saturday 10th December 2022, commencing at 12noon in catalogue order.

2. Accommodation: A list of local hotels and guesthouses are listed within the catalogue.

3. Conditions of Sale: These are printed herein or as displayed or announced prior to the fall of the hammer, to which the attention of prospective purchaser is drawn.

4. All sheep to be warranted in lamb unless ewe lambs.

5. Registration & Commissions to purchase: Intending purchasers are requested to fill in the form at the front of the catalogue giving details of their name, address, etc. to pass to the auctioneers’ clerk at the time of first purchase. Alternatively, if purchasers so desire, they may register with the accounts office to the auctioneers prior to sale.

6. Instructions to Purchase: The Auctioneers will be pleased to carry out instructions to purchase on behalf of purchasers not able to attend at Sale time, subject to receipt of acceptable instructions. No responsibility will be accepted if such instructions are not in the hands of the auctioneers prior to the sale of the lot or lots in question. Proof of posting will not be accepted as proof of receipt. 7. Refreshments: Refreshments will be available on Sale Day. 8. All sheep are Maedi Visna Accredited and Eligible for Export.

CONDITIONS OF SALE &

BIDDING

1. The highest bidder to be the buyer and if any dispute arises between the bidders, the lot in dispute shall immediately be put up again and re-sold. The Auctioneers reserve the right of refusing the bid of any person and to regulate the biddings.

2. The purchasers to give in their names and places of abode, in writing, and pay the full purchase money for each lot at the fall of the hammer (if required); in default of which the lot or lots so purchased may be immediately put up again and re-sold.

3. No lot or lots shall be removed from the premises till paid for, but each and every lot shall immediately, at the fall of the hammer, be considered as delivered and be and remain in every respect at the absolute risk of the respective purchasers thereof and shall be removed from the place of sale at purchaser’s expense.

4. The pedigree and description of each lot are believed to be correct.

5. If any purchaser shall fail to comply with the above conditions, or any part of them, the Auctioneers shall be at liberty either to recover in full the amount of the lot or lots bought by such purchaser, without reference to any delivery of acceptance of the lot or lots other than the first delivery by the fall of the hammer, or to re-sell any lot or lots bought by such purchaser, either by public or private sale and the full amount of the purchase money at the present sale, or the deficiency (if any) arising from such second sale, shall be good by the defaulter at the present sale and be recoverable as and for liquidated damages.

6. No undertaking of the Auctioneers or their servants to take charge of the lots or animals after the sale, or to forward them to their destination, shall be held to impose upon the Auctioneers any legal obligation or vitiate any of the foregoing conditions.

7. Should any question arise, not provided for in the foregoing Conditions, the decision of the Auctioneers shall be final from which there shall be no appeal.

8. Payments shall be taken in Cash or Bank Drafts. Strangers presenting cheques must produce satisfactory personal reference or Bankers’ Letter.

Bred first and foremost for carcase, commercial qualitys and character helped by proper and balanced use of recorded figures and ebv’s to try to produce Texels which can do a job In Lamb, Shearling, and commercial markets.

We have had another very commercially consistent year once again selling over 60 Texels to a strong average. The half or full brothers to our sale gimmers have produced our best ever crop of prime lambs which are averaging almost £118 per head from cross and hill ewes.

25 years ago when the 1st Select Seven sale started some of the old worthies were heard to say that it won’t last and that in a few years time they will be getting sold in pens of five, how wrong they were! The sale since has gone from strength to strength and has instead been the forerunner for many others.

Our consignment this year are all tested ARR/ARR and have been mated to the rams that we think will best suit them. Their shearling brothers at KELSO averaged £4,350 for 14 with many going into pedigree flocks.

Having been runner up in the previous three years, we were delighted to win the Scottish Flock Competition in 2021.
