Wisconsin’s #1 Small Private University
How to spot a Lawrentian:
They’re
the ones making a difference.
A Lawrence education fuses liberal arts with contemporary subjects in business and science—alongside one of the world’s leading conservatories— to create students so well-rounded, they roll. Get ready to meet history majors with a passion for data, pre-med cellists, and linguists studying innovation. You too will develop unique talents, with the drive and interpersonal skills to adapt, contribute, and succeed anywhere.

IMMANUEL “MANU” REDAH JUNIOR, BIOLOGY
Wizardry on the court. Community off it.
When I came for my visit, I instantly fell in love with the school and the community. I felt welcome. The school offered me a life to live and discover new things outside of athletics, which was something I was really looking for.
My coaches and teammates help me feel like I belong. I’m one of the few guys on the team who’s in a STEM field. I’m studying to be a dentist—the combination of science and relationship-building. Lawrence taught me the importance of relationships and I want to be someone whom patients can rely on.
WE THELAWRE N TIANS

A Lawrentian is a student, graduate, faculty, or staff member of Lawrence University. But as every Lawrentian knows, it’s more than who you are; it’s what you are. It’s what you do. Because at Lawrence, you’ll do the incredible.

That’s. So. Lawrentian.
SO MANY WAYS TO BE A LAWRENTIAN.
The opportunity to major in trumpet and minor in biochemistry? Classically Lawrentian.

Adding your own thing to this list? The most Lawrentian thing EVER.
Turning first-years into Lawrentians.
Learn from professors who have researched coral reefs and amassed tens of millions of streams of their music. Small classes and a perfect student-faculty ratio (8:1) let you form real, lasting relationships with your instructors.

ALLISON FLESHMAN, ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF CHEMISTRY
The Sound of Science.
One of the things that make students here unique is that they come in with varying interests. They’ll want to do music, science, business, or art. Those students can succeed here. We want you to be well-rounded and engage in something that’s not exactly your major. That’s the liberal arts. We offer so many different opportunities that can align to one final Lawrence experience.
I’m a chemistry professor, and yet I picked up cello when I was in high school and college. I wouldn’t necessarily play in front of people, but it brings me so much joy. So here at Lawrence, faculty have so much freedom to really experience, study, and engage with the things that interest them. We don’t stay in our lanes.
A CROWD YOU’LL NEVER GET L O S T IN

The intimate size of our university provides Lawrentians with huge opportunities. Here, you will think deeply and creatively, and you will be valued for it. Your sense of self will develop even as you learn new ways to play as a team, improvise as a quartet, and present your findings as a group. In the process, you will find best friends, indelible memories, and your path in life.
MAJORS, MINORS, AND MORE.
With 65+ majors, minors, and programs, and 50+ creative studios and ensembles, Lawrentians are free to explore their interests and develop a unique set of skills.

BAILEY GRIFFIS, SENIOR GOVERNMENT & BUSINESS
Want to know what’s possible at Lawrence? Just ask Bailey.
Lawrence just felt right to me. I could pursue my sport, my major, and have a beautiful campus that I enjoyed. I am a varsity athlete and a double major in government and business with a minor in studio art. I found community in other places too. I ended up joining a sorority and becoming president. That wasn’t necessarily the goal, but I'm grateful for it.
A Lawrentian embodies every aspect of what a liberal arts education can provide. Whether it's academics, clubs and organizations, or campus events—the opportunities are there for you.
It's not exclusive to athletics or to the conservatory. These are the things that unify our campus—we're all willing to explore the things that we care about.

Nobody does comfy and cozy like we do.
One of the first things you might notice around campus are all the fireplaces. Lawrentians know how to enjoy life’s simple pleasures, be present, and feel gratitude. Pro tip: try by relaxing with friends and good food and drink at Winter Carnival.

Vikings
Lawrence Vikings compete across 24 intercollegiate sports and three athletic conferences. In fact, more than one-third of all Lawrentians are varsity athletes. They’re a vital part of our community, where their teamfirst mentality fits in perfectly.
We seek out athletes from diverse backgrounds who will thrive as Lawrentians. Our coaches are educators, helping scholar-athletes develop personally as well as athletically. We recently completed a $5M renovation of our track, baseball and softball fields, and team complex at the Banta Bowl, providing our athletes with first-class facilities.

NATALIE LINEBARGER, SENIOR BIOCHEMISTRY & BIOLOGY Finding your wings.
When I first came in, I knew that I wanted to pursue veterinary work, but I didn’t really know which part. After taking wildlife ecology at Lawrence, I really fell in love with birds. I’d never been a bird person before, so this was kind of unexpected. That’s something I’ve definitely noticed here—Lawrentians are always looking to learn something new.
And then I went to New Zealand. I could have never imagined what study abroad was going to be like, but it was perfect for me because I just got to see a ton of bird life.
Now as a senior, I know that I love conservation and rehabilitation. My dream is to pursue a veterinary path where I can do field work that serves my ecology and environmental interests.
I really think if I hadn’t come to Lawrence, I don’t know if I would have gone to New Zealand. And if I hadn’t gone to New Zealand, I really don’t know where my path would be.
HEAR ABOUT LAWRENCE FROM LAWRENTIANS.

Your admission to Lawrence is based on who you are, not what you can pay.
We’re here so you can get here. Our experienced financial aid team (itself made up of musicians, former varsity athletes, first-generation scholars, and Lawrentians) assesses each student applicant and their family as individuals. We listen, ask the right questions, and remove the hurdles in the scholarship and financial aid process.
We invest in students who are ready to grow, and the return is profound. The world is better for it. Our most exceptional applicants are often awarded full-tuition scholarships, and every admitted student receives thoughtful consideration to put Lawrence within reach.
The value of a Lawrence education can’t be found on a transcript.
By the time you graduate from Lawrence, you will be a better learner, a braver artist, a more mindful citizen, a kinder soul. You will be a little bit older and a whole lot wiser. You will be a Lawrentian.
