KU golfers 16th; Drogosch fires 72 Palm Desert, Calif. — Kansas University golfer Brock Drogosch shot an even-par 72, and Kansas University’s men’s golf team was in 16th place Saturday after day two of the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate.

Drogosch had a two-day total of 147 and was tied for 27th. The tournament concludes today.

Baker track Washington St. tops KU baseball takes two titles Surprise, Ariz. — Washington State rallied with four runs in the seventh inning to hand Kansas University’s baseball team an 8-5 defeat Saturday night. KU collected 14 hits but stranded 12 runners. “I was pleased with the way we swung the bat,” KU coach Ritch Price said. “When you get 14 hits and score only five runs ... we made a couple bad base-running plays.”

Lamoni, Iowa — Baker University’s men’s and women’s track and field teams both won HAAC championships Saturday for the fourth straight season. Baker’s Billi Pipes was named women’s MVP. A five-way tie for the men’s MVP award included Baker’s Jamie Steury, Joshua Peck and Vincent Tadokoro. BU’s Tim Byers was tapped HAAC coach of the year.
