67 OF ‘N LEWE L

Eerlik. Gebreek. Sommer net so. Psalm 62 sê: “Pour out your hearts before Him.” Retief Burger sing in die liedjie 'U is al wat ek begeer': Seën die gebarste lippe en die eenvoud in my stem En neem my verwarde hande na die kamer van U troon Want my hart is koud en my trane is al droog gehuil My siel verlang en die dors drup oor my siel. So eerlik. God begeer sulke eenvoudige eerlikheid by ons. Psalm 51:6 sê: “Maar U verwag opregtheid diep in 'n mens se hart: laat ek dan diep in my binneste weet hoe U wil dat ek moet lewe.” Ken jy die liedjie, “When the music fades”?

Hierdie ondersoek moet jou uiteindelik by 'n besoek aan Jesus uitbring – 'n rustige kuiertydjie by Hom. As jy enige iemand beter wil ken, sal jy so dikwels as moontlik by daardie persoon gaan kuier om lekker te gesels, dinge saam Daar rus sulke seëning in heeltemal eerlik wees. Sommer net so. As jy eerlikheid. Pro-life sticker campaign

The final straw The final straw for Jacobs came when gang fights erupted between the 26s and 28s gangs, driving him to use cocaine and then tik. When he realised that he was becoming bankrupt as a result of his drug usage he returned home to Mitchell’s Plain, only to discover that his brother was also on tik. Inevitably, they got into a fight and he stabbed his brother. “The devil gave me a picture of a ‘galley blik’ [fire drum with holes] and said I must stab him so that he looks like this ‘galley blik’.” He said that while he was stabbing his brother he heard another voice commanding him to stop. “Then I saw my brother lying in a pool of his own blood. He reached out his hand and called my mother and told her to tell me that all will be ok and died.” Jacobs then called the police who arrested him. He was given bail shortly after appearing in court the Monday after the stabbing.

Brown launched the initiative a few months ago after he read about Peter Throp, the founder of Value Life, who earlier this year won an appeal against a conviction for damaging public property for placing anti-abortion stickers over the lifethreatening, illegal abortion stickers on Cape Town streets. He contacted Throp who agreed to partner with him by supplying his team with Value Life stickers.

As a result of the murder, he couldn’t sleep because of nightmares. “Strong alcohol didn’t help. It was like drinking water,” Jacobs said. At this point, he decided to go to church and if that did not help, to commit suicide. However on a Saturday a friend invited him to go to Mitchell’s Plain town centre where they purchased half a gram of tik from a woman merchant. They used drugs the whole night and by the time he awoke the next morning his friend had left. He managed to get

Commenting on their PE sticker campaign, Brown said: “The messages [on the Value Life stickers] are loud and clear and imprinted in the hearts and minds of both men and women. These stickers are everywhere in sight and appear to be the right thing to do”.

On Jan. 10, 2001, Kristi gave birth by cesarean section. As the medical team took the babies to NICU for treatment, doctors gave parents some good news: the girls did not share a heart, making a separation procedure possible. Because of the high risk, doctors urged the devastated parents to terminate the pregnancy, saying it was the “best course of action.” Many children who are born stillborn die shortly after birth; the survival rate is only between 5 and 25 percent. However, after much prayer, Kristi chose to go through with the pregnancy: “To me it has always been really clear that aborting the child is taking a life. I was honestly more afraid of that than whatever I might deliver. The only thing I could bank on was living with my own choices. And I knew that whatever I did next, I was going to have to look it in the face every single day of my life,” she told WORLD Magazine.

Missions Thailand Ministry Outreach (11 June – 29 June)

T

his time our team headed for the North and South of Thailand, reaching towards the islands. The humidity is very high with temperatures soaring into 40 degrees. The Thai Mokem people are very different in culture and values. Mokem people are the 'seafarers' or the 'sea gypsies', as they are called. We were a team of six people altogether. We first started off in Bangkok in which we visited Campus Crusade for Christ, where they were busy teaching Leadership Skills to the Thai Christian students. They organise large evangelistic events, church planting, also the translation of the 'Jesus' film in the different Thai languages. We prayed and ministered to their team for the Gospel to continue so spread amongst the Thai people. We flew to Kanchanaburi and visited the Bridge on the River Kwai where 15 000 Prisoners of War and 100 000 Thai's died in the Thai war against Burma and Vietnam. We visited a few churches where we had the opportunity to pray in and also met Muslim woman with whome we shared the Jesus film on the cell phone in Thai. They are very open people, and allowed us to pray for them. We prayed that the 'True Allah', would be revealed to them. We also stayed in Trang which is in the South of Thailand, staying alongside the Andaman Sea. We were walking along the road when we met a police officer and was introduced to the Commander of the area, in which we also shared the 'Jesus' film and prayed for the police officers. The following day walking along a different road we met up with a 71 year old Thai who could speak broken English and was invited to his house on the seaside. We shared the 'Jesus' film on the cellphone in Thai which is over an hour long and all watched it together. He was so happy that he met us, and asked us to pray with him and his son. The following morning when we were about to leave he came from where he was staying to greet us. What a blessing! He had never heard of the gospel in his language before. Mike, a missionary from the USA met with us who can speak Thai fluently and took us to the city of Ranolng and to the islands. We visited the Phayam island, in the Andaman Sea by boat. On the island stays a young 34 year old Phillip van Wyk. A missionary from South Africa, who built a house amongst the Mokem gypsies and teaches the children.

To cross over to the island we had to all cross over by foot, waist hight to reach the Moken village. We went from house to house inviting them to watch the 'Jesus' film, that evening in the church hall, the Premier opening of the film in their own language, Mokem, which has never been seen before. The hall was packed. We prayed for many people to receive Christ and many for illnesses and diseases. We were blessed to have Christian, Thai missionaries with us who could translate to their language. Late that night we had to cross back over, where it was full tide and went over in a 'river float.' We also crossed over to Kho Lao island by longboat and met missionaries from Brazil, a lovely young couple reaching out and support the Mokem children. Gambling and alcohol is a major problem and often the children are left alone to play amongs the dogs and chickens in the rubbish filled streets. We also visited the local churches in Ranong which are modern and growing. In the evening we spent time at the orphanage where they are being brought up by a Christian Thai family and are taught christian principles and values. These children are extremely disciplined and do not want to go back to their village. We had a meal with them and were also able to watch the 'Jesus' film with them which they thoroughly enjoyed. Isaiah 24:15 In the east give glory to the Lord; Exalt the name of the Lord, The God of Israel, in the islands of the sea. Sien julle Sondag by die Kinderkerk!
