Capstone Project

Creating a purposeful destination for animal lovers where dogs will be rehabilitated and re-homes will help decrease the spread of transmissible diseases and boost the local economy. In a facility with the means, stray dogs will be trained and re-homed to local and international owners, made easier with on-site resources to aid in the process along with owner education to decrease the chance of dogs returning to shelters. The success of the dog adoption hotel in Brazil will achieve this through the Interior Ecosystem Model, Interaction Design Theory and Biophilia. Creating an environment that is stress free for the dogs and visitors through different social settings and activity areas, they will be able to bond and find their perfect matches.

Petal was designed to accommodate the women experiencing homelessness in the Fort Worth, Texas area between the ages of 18-35. The ADU brings in biophilia from the materials and aesthetics and also from the gardens located outside each grouping of houses, visible from the windows. This community is meant to help women feel safe while also providing resources needed to end the cycle of homelessness in this population.

The Gable is designed for the produce section of a chain of supermarkets. The Gable luminaire is constructed with recycled aluminum for light weight construction and ease of maintenance. The interchangeable panels are shaped from recycled plastic and edge lit with LED strips. For a creative twist, they can be printed with seasonal, brand, or location specific images.

Hidden History

A mobile museum that can be outfitted for any place in the country by using vinyl wall coverings to display information and plexiglass cases to display artifacts. The example as shown is the Iditarod National Trail. The trailer’s purpose is to highlight the history that isn’t as well known around the country. Fitted with a hydraulic system, the trailer can be lower to the ground for access to all.
