Effectiveness of technology

Issuu

This was used in preproduction to present documents from Word to present our work in a lot more depth and analysis, PowerPoint presentation to present research on audience, and spread sheets to present out shooting script. We were then able to link it with Issuu to put onto our blogs. I also used it for my analysis of digipaks, music videos and magazine adverts. The blog was the main use of technology used in preproduction as it allowed us to display our work to be marked; here we were allowed to put on any planning or research we did. Each week we made production logs to keep it up to date from where we in terms of our process while creating our project I also used hyperlinks when writing about research that linked to other websites like Pintrest and different YouTube

For post-production I created files on word which I needed to link onto my blog, such as research on technologies used, and to also show my information in a new way and PowerPoint presentations on my evaluation of our music video and ancillary products..

I think that it was an effective aspect of technology that we used as it gave a different way of presenting work and made it clear to read. I thought it was easy to use as I had used it last year.

Here it was only used to update the stages of our progress.

In post production I used blogger to upload posts discussing evaluation of our three products, and posted them as well.

Overall it was a good use of technology, as I could put up any posts necessary, and also link different things to the sight for all stages of my coursework, it was also very straight forward to use.

YouTube was used to find similar artists to ours, and analyse the conventions of the grime genre. We also looked for locations, costumes and the mode of address we could consider, when filming our music video, I also uploaded a video of my original pitch and audience feedback. I used this to get permission of an unsigned artist ‘Cashtastic’ to use his song for our music video. However we didn’t get a reply but we still chose to use the song, and it was an easy way of contacting the artist. Pintrest was used to help form the ideal representation of our artist in terms of the audience appeal, here I was able to browse the internet for things we would want to include in our video, or things we thought would represent the artist well, such as locations costumes,

YouTube was used in post production to post our final music video, we also uploaded two videos of analysis and evaluation

This was good technology to use as we were able to use a different way of expressing our ideas. I was also able to post my video easily which was effective, however it did take quite a long time to load up.

This was effective as it was easy and quick to get done. Despite not getting a reply, it was a good way off getting into contact with an unsigned artist, as social networking is a good way to promote his music.

We only referred to our work done on Pintrest in the end evaluation video.

Pintrest was new too me however I definitely found it effective as it helped me gather Ideas faster and helped build a better picture of what could influence us in the production stages of our work..

characters to play in the music video. This was used for our audience research it allowed us to video a response of our target audience to our several questions in which we asked them we got quite a big group and they gave us a huge amount of suggestions to consider when filming the video, which definitely helped us as it gave us a better picture of what the target audience wanted. It was also used to film my pitch and audience feedback on it. This wasn’t used in our preproduction

This was an easy camera to use as we didn’t need it for long it wasn’t essential to set up anything to film it with, I was able to hold it and film things quickly there wasn’t much effort needed when using it, which was good as we could get the work done quicker.

We used one HD camera when filming our video, however I would have liked to use more as we could have got two different shots at the same time, which would stop the chances of any continuity errors, and help with I wider variety of shots, to help conform to the genre. However I feel

It was easy to use and we were able to see our footage after it had been filmed. So we would know whether we wanted to reshoot or re-position the shot. Using the HD camera allowed us to get even better shots, and edit them on final cut, which allowed us to edit better in the post production stages.

We used iMovie on the apple macs so that we could record ourselves then upload it straight to YouTube to put on to our Blog. We were able to add subtitles and pictures of different sources such as YouTube clips to help show what we were trying to mirror in our own work, comparing to real life grime/UK Rap videos. We used final cut for editing, however we didn’t want to use too much special effects on the imagery of the video, as we wanted to make it look like a BSR style video. However there were lots of different options when editing, and we wanted to make I as relatable as possible o our target audience who wanted

This software was clear and straight forward to use, we edited quickly, and it allowed us to use another software besides Final cut to evaluate our own work, we also incorporated our own music video in between our own commentary, I think it was better to use this, as we were able to explain in depth our ideas and how we put them across in our video. This was effective as it allowed us to upload as many clips we wanted to choose what one fits the video better; it allowed us to do everything we needed to do in order o make a successful music video. I found that it was a complex software to use, and had a few complications with it however I overcome these problems with the help of

my partner and my teachers as I had never used it before. This was a quick and easy way to reach Lewis and jasmine, one of our other actors. My partner also used Blackberry messenger so we could sort things out whenever we needed to.

Photo shop was used in the production of our ancillary products to help edit the colours that we wanted to bring out of the picture, matching the themes of the video. It was important for us to browse through all the different effects we could add to the pictures to improve the quality of them. This was only used briefly used to add text to the pictures and to
