01 - THE REFLECTION HOTEL

EXISTING SITE

CONCEPT IMAGERY

The Reflection Hotel located on the Navy Pier in Chicago is a playfully sophisticated environment that all family sizes can enjoy. Often times when families are traveling, the hotel spaces are not designed with them in mind.

Taking inspiration from the well known Millennium Park, the space is a fun yet relaxing environment and accommodating to all ages. Materiality explores various metals and earth tones derived from the park. You will also find curved features that are appealing to the eye of a child but is also a nod to the many curved sculptures in Millennium Park. There are various room sizes and layouts to properly house all family members. Kids zone and rooftop playground to entertain younger children and an adjacent rooftop bar for the parents to enjoy.

Event spaces to host formal meetings, or family gatherings such as a wedding or birthday party. Using evidencebased design, this hotel is designed to appeal to the needs of all possible users so they can enjoy Chicago and time spent with their family.

02 - PARKS LIBRARY RENOVATION

This 3rd floor renovation of Iowa State’s Parks Library focuses on versatility in every aspect. Each unique occupant will have a place where they can feel comfortable. After conducting field studies and interviews, these needs were better understood. This includes the needs of wheelchair users, vision impaired users, and those with neurological disorders. Flexible furniture arrangements allow for multifunctional spaces and adjustable furniture adjusts to any user needs. Keeping some of the bookshelves provides both acoustical control between the collaboration spaces and individual study zone. Users who prefer to checkout physical books still have the option to do so as well.

03 - CELINE SHOP-IN-SHOP

FLOOR PLAN, NTS

This Celine shop-in-shop located inside Rinascente in Rome, Italy replicates the elegance of the Celine brand while exploring a new meaning of sophistication for its future.

The sleek, linear design elements reflect the timeless pieces of Celine merchandise. The atmosphere captures the refined essence of Celine through the use of contrasting ideas such as light and shadow, warm and cold, and new and old. These ideas are showcased through circulation, minimalistic displays, and earthy materiality.

04 - WEARABLE DESIGN

Wearable design inspired by the song “Turn, Turn, Turn” by The Birds. Materials used: colorful plastic bags, tulle, and fish line. It was selected to be displayed in the Student Innovation Center on campus after completion.

05 - DRAWING IN ROME 10 drawings of various arches in Rome using ink pens. Completed during my semester abroad in Italy.
