The city of Laurel is fortunate to have such a rich architectural heritage and a high concentration of historic buildings, with some dating as far back as the 1840s. From its historic neighborhoods to its historic Main Street, Laurel is home to a variety of historic properties ranging from the Victorian era to the Moderne style and everything in-between.

This year marks the Laurel Historical Society’s 50th anniversary! To celebrate this milestone, we will explore the wide variety of exceptional architecture found in our wonderful city by highlighting historic homes featured on our House Tours over the years, starting with our first House Tour for the Bicentennial Celebration in 1976!

The Laurel Historical Society expects to have an attendance of over 200 guests for this Holiday House Tour.

The mission of the Laurel Historical Society is to deepen the understanding of the past and cultural heritage of Laurel, Maryland to connect and inspire, for today and the future. We fulfill this mission by:

Collecting, preserving, interpreting, and researching the historical records and artifacts that document the history and culture of our community.

Providing access to our collections online, in our library, and through outreach programs.

Enhancing collections and public programs to better represent present-day and past life as well as the diverse communities in the Laurel area.

Creating exhibits on the history, current activities, and cultural heritage of the Laurel area.

Conducting lectures, discussions, and other public programs for adults, children, students, and families.

Connecting with the community and stakeholders to broaden partnerships and collaborations on collections, exhibits, programs, and other learning opportunities.
