THIS IS A FAN MADE MANGA OF EVANGELION:3.0+1.0. THIS IS A A GROUP OF FANS OWN INTERPRETATION AND FAN FICTION OF THE FINAL MOVIE FROM THE REBUILD OF EVANGELION TETRAOLOGY.
I am currently not associated with STUDIO SYNKAI, the studio in which this project was done under. I've departed from the studio. This project has been cancelled unfortunately for many reasons. I still dream of one day completing it, with help and the resources to do so. This script was written; December 2021. The story concepts and planning were done 2019-2021.

This is the story of Evangelion. Evangelion is a story that repeats.
It is a story where a young boy witnessed many horrors with his own eyes, but still tries to stand up again.
It is a story of will, a story of moving forward. If only just a little. It is a story of Fear; where someone must face indefinite solitude and fear of reaching out to others. There is always hope.
This is the 4th and final play of Evangelion! Hopefully you’ve seen the other 3 plays. If you haven’t that’s alright.

Shinji takes one last sip of water. He goes outside and takes a walk in the red wasteland of death. He heads over far away
into a canyon. It's one of the highest points of the canyon and it has an incredible view of the valley beneath. He has come to commit suicide, Shinji stands at the edge of the canyon taking one last time to think about his life. He looks out at the massive beautiful landscape, the night sky sprinkled with stars seamlessly. The Canyon’s edge as it trips down to the river beneath. Shinji feels a combination of wonder and pain as he's admiring the landscape. A woman's voice behind him yells.
Mysterious Woman: “Hey!” Shinji startled, as he almost fell but then catches himself.
He turns around to find a woman appearing out of the forest. She wears a long white dress and has short, still very straight hair and quite beautiful looking. It's late and dark and Shinji wonders why she's here by herself. She approaches Shinji and says hello. Kind of confused and thrown off and says hello back. What are you doing here? So late by yourself. Shinji asks, in a kind of a snarky way. The woman responds with the same question. “What are you doing here? So late by yourself?” again thrown off. Shinji says: “I don't know. I guess I just needed to clear my head. This is my favorite spot.”
Mysterious Woman: You're a bit too close to the edge of that cliff to be clearing your head or Are you going to jump now?
Shinji: Like I said, I'm just here to clear my head. I've had a long couple of days.
Mysterious Woman: Well have a good night.
This confuses Shinji, it quickly constructed a fantasy in his head that this woman was some deity type who appeared by faith to save him to convince him not to jump, to change his mind about life as a woman walks away. Shinji calls out to the woman.
Shinji: You never said why you're here!
The woman turns around and says: “you never said why you're here as well” as she smiles gently.
Shinji: Yes, I did. I just told you! Shinji replies in a nervous guilty laugh. The woman gets really close to Shinji quickly moving from where she was right up into Shinji's face.
Mysterious Woman: Why are you really here? Shinji is thrown off yet again by her response.

Shinji: I'm clearing my fucking head.
Mysterious Woman: I don't believe you. (LONG PAUSE as she stares at Shinji’s eyes with a face of disappointment) She turns around and begins to walk away again as she begins to walk further away, Shinji panics at the thought of the woman leaving without trying to save him. He yells out.
Shinji: Okay fine. I'm here to jump!
The woman turns around and asks; Why do you wish to jump?
Shinji: I'm here to kill myself. This life is awful and I'm ready to die.
The woman comes back to where Shinji is standing.
Mysterious Woman: What's so awful about it? She asked.
Shinji: What's not so awful about it? It's filled with ugliness and sadness. There’s tragedy, there’s conflict, there’s heartbreak and it's endlessly difficult for no reason. Success is hard. There's no obvious meaning to anything. Even just the little things like people giving you dirty looks, the hot weather, people being mean, and most of all, piloting an EVA is what I hate about living in this world!
Mysterious Woman: Well, what life would you not want to jump from?
Shinji: A life without all that obviously! A life filled with only beauty, happiness, love and peace. A life that's easy and fun all the time. One where there’s apparent meaning to stuff and we actually know what's going on and why we're here and the purpose of life. A life where there is no heartbreak, no tragedy, no conflict, no hardship. I want a life where there’s no mean people giving you dirty looks, and where I don’t have to pilot an EVA, and where people don’t give me pain.
Mysterious Woman: Hmm…
Shinji: Everything would be perfect. And I would never want to leave that life. Shinji and the mysterious woman stare at each other for a second. It feels like a few. So, who are you, you have to tell me why you're here now.
The woman moves closer to him.
Mysterious Woman: I'm who you hoped I was.

Shinji is confused and he back paddles a little bit, completely forgetting where he's standing.
Shinji: What do you mean?
The woman leans in to answer and whispers to Shinji’s ears and pushes him softly on his chest and he is falling backwards off the cliff.

ASUKA Hmm...
Asuka looks at her tracking device.
ASUKA
What's taking them so long? Misato should've been here by now. I guess we're on our own.
Asuka looks back at Shinji looking dead inside.
ASUKA
So do you plan at staying there to die?
Asuka shows a face of irritation.
ASUKA
Useless. You can't even take a step to walk for yourself, God damn it!

AUTHORS' NOTEE: There is a scene in the current version of chapter that is drawn and Asuka listens to Shinji SDAT but I forgot that Rei had it. So if I ever got an opportunity to change some drawings in chapter I will remove that whole scene and just have them gazing at the moon and with Shinji looking down being depressed.

Much like the opening of the 3 pilots walking I'd like to have something like that happening. With of course our own visually flare and presenting in our own style of the pilots walking through the city. I am not to happy with the current illustrated version of this scene in chapter, so again if given a chance I will include what is written here.
EXT. PARIS, FRANCE - EIFFEL TOWER - DAY RITSUKO
You’re all set Mari. Now it’s time to descend.
MARI
Roger that.
AAA WUNDER Announcement:
All units disengaged and returned to formation. Team B will take care of Content Corps JA-02, Proceed with caution. Mari’s team will take care of the content next to Content Corps JA-02. Please proceed with extra caution when in extraction phase.
MIDORI
Oh boy, that sure was faster than expected.
HIDEKI
Well of course. If it wasn’t Maya pressuring the newcomers it would have taken forever to try to hack.

HIDEKI
Have some faith in her would ya? You’ve seen her take bigger missions before.
RITSUKO
You two, less talking and more coding.
MIDORI AND HIDEKI

EXT. TOKYO-3 OUTSKIRTS - DAY
ASUKA
Hmph. Took them long enough
ASUKA
You two, get ready. The others will be here shortly with a DSRV.
Rei and Shinji in response, with only Rei nodding at Asuka.
The three pilots look aimlessly at the shore. The sound of the ocean smells rather peaceful along with the sound of a refreshing breeze. It’s almost as this moment, the world is in tranquility.
ASUKA
ASUKA
Why’d you do it, Shinji.
Shinji doesn’t reply.
ASUKA
Why did you disobey the orders given to you.

ASUKA
Why did you go with NERV despite us telling you to do nothing and that Rei doesn’t exist.
Asuka raises her voice.
REI
Am I not Rei? Shinji refers to me as “Rei”.
ASUKA
You’re just mass produced. A clone.
REI
A panel of Shinji looking lifeless, he looks completely zoned out.
SHINJI Rei...? (Shinji sees Rei pointing at two doors)
REI
What’s wrong, Ikari? They’re here now. We should get going.

Author's Note:
Chapter one of this manga was quite an interesting production, it deserves a documentary hahaha on how hectic the start of this production was and how it began. I will explain it in more detail somewhere else so keep in touch. But if your reading this for the first time I suggest you read it along with the existing version of the chapter up in our website and compare the differences, they are quite differently now. I view this version as the definitive version, some tweaking is still required through collaboration, but the basic structure and gist I think is settled now. I am not very descriptive here because they exist already in illustration. This fan made manga and the official opening of Shin Eva which this closely follows it. From chapter two and onwards the story takes to a complete different path. The opening scene from Chapter one was original, only thing similar to the official release of Shin Eva was the Paris Mission Operation of Chapter.

CHAPTER COVER:
The cover, like nearly every single panel in this script, serves a purpose and has its own meaning.
Make the cover an extremely ambiguous zoomed-in shot of what could either be a crater with a slight and subtle red line, alluding to TABGHA BASE and the moon. As we progress in the chapter, we see that it’s actually a huge bullet mark on the old NERV HQ wall rubble.
Both NERV and GENDO had involvement in TABGHA BASE and the events that transpired in both areas. The ADAM on the moon and KAWORU’s coffins were also located in this area, highlighting its vital importance to this story and the world it takes place in.
Also, it’s a fun way to throw off readers into thinking that we are suddenly going to crazy space territory from the getgo.
PANEL 1:
Dark, grey-ish rocky texture. We can’t distinguish if it’s rock or metal yet.
PANEL 2:
Zoom-out. Same shot. It’s a crater of sorts, something akin to a blackened moon crater but not exactly the same texture. This has subtle cracks.
PANEL 3:
Zoom-out. Same shot. Turns out it’s not really a crater on a black moon. It’s a bullet/impact zone on a stone wall.
PANEL 4:
Zoom-out. Same shot. There are 2 more bullet/firearm impact marks surrounding our initial one. On the top right corner of the panel we see a red mark, like as if a logo is about to be revealed.
PANEL 5:
Zoom-out. Same shot. It’s the NERV logo. It’s full of bullet
marks and its stone base is full of cracks, showing damage, erosion and the passage of time. The NERV logo is on a block of stone, which must have belonged to a wall that was torn to pieces long ago, since there is more rubble and dirt and pieces of broken wall around it.
PANEL 6:
Zoom-out. Same shot. By this panel we realize that it’s an aerial shot of the former NERV HQ. It’s ravaged, destroyed and abandoned like when we saw it in 3.0.
PANEL 7:
Q REI watching the area from above, we were watching from her perspective all along. We can’t distinguish if her face reflects disappointment or concern.
Q REI’s located on the right side of the panel, and she’s looking in that direction.
PAGE 2:
PANEL 1:
SHINJI walking in through a door that opens. He’s looking down, with his arms dangling down with seemingly no strength as a result of his emotional state and his lack of food. He’s crouched, with a mix of shame and lament. His stare is dead, he is an empty and broken man who hates himself and the world he has to live in.
Behind him is AOBA. He is looking at SHINJI, and with most people in this cruel and red Purgatory of a world, we can’t distinguish exactly what he’s feeling. His face seems to indicate a combination of anger and pity. He knows what the child had gone through, he knows what his actions have caused for living beings and he detests him for it. But AOBA is still a human, a good one, and he can’t help but let the good Samaritan in him be pitiful for the things SHINJI had to endure or the things that may be about to happen to him, primarily due to the person that’s staring right at him from the other end of this room.
PANEL 2:
SHINJI’S POV. We see the Wunder’s command center. Everyone has their eyes dead set on him.
NOTE FOR ARTIST: Even though this is a command center, try to find a way to make this subtly look like a courthouse. This

reflects Shinji’s point of view on these people, who judge him without knowing what he’s gone through. And WILLE are, in a way, about to face a person who in wars could be considered a war criminal who endangered the world yet again despite early warnings.

In her Captain goggles we see SHINJI’s reflection, looking down like on that shot above. Her expression is a combination of disappointment and hate.
MISATO: Shinji Ikari.
PANEL 2:
Reference SHINJI and MISATO in this shot. MISATO takes GENDO’s place here. She is close enough to be distinguished clearly and not as a silhouette like GENDO in the NGE frame, but she is still sitting on her command chair above the child. An imposing authority figure, opposed to the young woman who got lost in the NERV HQ during the Angel’s attack on that same episode.
MISATO: You resisted and evaded arrest and confinement. You obeyed NERV’s plans. And most of all… you piloted an EVANGELION Unit under NERV’s instructions, nearly causing another Impact. Do you have anything to say to yourself?
Background is SHINJI, still looking down. His eyes are obstructed by a shadow cast by his hair.
On the bottom lower area of the page we can see the back of MISATO’s head.
The other 4 panels are WILLE members staring at him. One of those members is SAKURA SUZUHARA, who seems to be the only one subtly biting her lip as if fighting to contain her anxiety due to the absurdly tense scene developing right in front of her eyes.
MISATO’s expression is now fully overtaken by anger, similar to GENDO’s in this image, as if the boy’s lack of action or answer makes her patience run out in a matter of seconds.
MISATO: So? Do you have anything to say for yourself?

MARI: Well, hello, Princess. How was the trip?

. Supersonic Sc-709 Portable Mp3 & CD Player. Popular in the early to mid 2000’s. Probably owned by AOBA during his younger days as well.
. Arctic Monkeys mock-up band poster. The band rose to prominence in the late 2000’s and instantly became huge in Europe around the time a teen ASUKA was attending college. Guitar-driven, energetic music that left a mark on teens during those years and probably started ASUKA’s love for rock and guitars. She could have a mock-up poster of the band’s AM record somewhere in her room as a token of days long gone where music and entertainment were common.
. Some random LP’s and CD’s thrown around here and there.
. ASUKA’s 3.0 jacket and hat can be laying around somewhere in the room as a visual throwback.
. Headless Doll/Puppet that ASUKA had in 2.0. Last time we saw the doll it was placed inside a quarantine chest in MISATO’s APARTMENT after the Unit-03 contamination. Someone recovered the doll knowing full well the value it had for ASUKA, so it was either MISATO or ASUKA herself. However, the lack of head indicates the emotional scars and trauma that the Unit-03 incident had on ASUKA and how cruel the passage of time has been for everyone, how brutal these 14 years were. The headless doll also symbolizes a stolen childhood, a child formed into a soldier with the sole purpose of piloting an EVA.
MARI:
. Clothes scattered everywhere, untidiness galore. Her clothes are a combination of girly and tomboyish, artists make of that what you will.
. A Cat plushie, old and dirty. In 2.0 Mari mentions having cats back home and this added to her “Nyaa”’s and occasional feline-like movements (in particular when smelling LCL, almost instinctive) lets us know that the character has an affinity towards cats.
. A box of hunting rifle ammo. At the beginning, MARI was not so skilled at sniping and using firearms but like we see in 3.0 she has become extremely good at it. Her aim is excellent. This is because during the 14-year time skip the started to practice sharpshooting and sniping with MISATO and other former trained NERV members. Her mastery of the sniper was a result of constant practice outdoors with a hunting

rifle. The SANCTUARY has enough space for MARI to practice with the rifle and not endanger anyone. MARI owns a Remington 700 synthetic 7 mm bolt action rifle.
rial that degrades in value, symbolizing the different kingdoms that will emerge from Nabuchadnezzar’s reign over Babylon up to the time of Jesus Christ. This parallelism stands next to the Four Worlds idea we’ve discussed: Each step from the original Neon Genesis Evangelion series up to Amend are the total opposite of this statue; since we are getting closer and closer to the end of this cycle of death and misery. Instead of going from GOLD to CLAY, the characters in Eva will be going from CLAY (NGE) to GOLD (Amend).
MIDORI (off-panel):I based it on a story about a king and his dream that I read back at the Sanctuary. I found it very intriguing.

Speaking of intriguing matters... Misato wants us to prep an examination of UNIT-01 when we get back.
MIDORI: Huh? Anything happened?
HYUGA: It’s been acting strange. Making sudden flashes of activity every now and then. We thought it was some sort of Core energy manifestation, but Misato noted that it started when we brought the kids back on to the ship.
MIDORI: Well, let’s make damn sure that he stays FAR away from it this time. God knows that we we're dealing with enough bullshit right now.

Establishing shot. SHINJI’s cell/isolation chamber.

SHINJI looking at the ceiling, or maybe at nothing. His mind drifting away on a journey across the seas of lament and sorrowful nostalgia. The aching, empty hole left on his soul by his countless mistakes, by the loss of his only friend Kaworu, by the loss of Ayanami. The feeling of being bereaved with no one else to guide you through your desolating pain.

SAKURA: Um… sorry to bother, Ikari, I brought you some lunch.

She puts the bag and cup on a desk near SHINJI’s bed.
SHINJI is still looking up, it looks as if he hasn’t even noticed her walking in.

SAKURA stands there with her hands tied behind her back, as if she’s waiting for the faintest of reactions from the boy.

Shot of SAKURA’s face, she’s confused and mildly sad.
SAKURA:I know you would rather have some fresh air, but it might be awhile before we land.

The Sanctuary of Elysian: A city encapsulated by a structural dome of some sort, fully cutting it off from the outside environment. The prospect of domed cities became more popular and ideal after Second Impact, due to the highly distorted global environment. The Sanctuary of Elysian is the first fully realized domed city created as a joint venture by the United Nations, NERV, and the International Environmental Agency, and its child agency the Japan Marine Ecosystem Preservation Research Organization (JMEPRO).

Through the the montage, there are several panels and shots of the sanctuary. It is cold, beautiful, the architecture is Japanese yet mixed with European styles, and other different types architecture from around the world. There is a diversity of people from all over the world here hence the different styles of architecture. It also has a bit of a broken futurist touch to it. Shots of a church should be shown and kids in a choir sing a sacred song.

That's too simplified. Before the birth of the human race, there were two primordial civilizations with very advanced technology. The first civilization, called the First Ancestral Race, created the Eva, and as a result was destroyed. The next civilization, called the Second Ancestral Race, created devices called Lances of Longinus, thanks to which it was possible to control the Eva successfully; later, as a preventative measure to anyone reviving the Eve, they scattered beings called Angels throughout the globe. That's the first Impact.
SAKURA
Oh! I can explain the 2nd Impact! Wawait actually never mind... (Sakura has a worried expression as she looks towards to Misato.)

The third near caused by Shinji. Then the full 3rd impact by Kaworu. And now Shinji Ikari. The 4th.
*This dialogue here may seem like an exposition dump but note for artists is to make the characters do something as they talk, either illustrate interesting dynamic compositions and dynamic angle. Just anything that can be visually pleasing and formatting or separating the dialogue well into different panels to avoid too many walls of text. A suggestion this is.

INT. SHINJI'S GREENHOUSE IGLOO PRISON HOUSE
Shinji sits on his bed. It's been well over 4 days and he hasn't eaten yet.
Shinji stares at his at his food tray with an expression of soullessness. No highlights in his eyes. His stomach's growls in hunger at the sight of the food left for him. With no choice, his survival instincts kick in and be begins to eat violently and chugs his water in almost an instant, afterwards he throws the tray and away and pushes the cart that had placed the tray. He goes back into his bed and covers himself.

CHAPTER FOUR
Asuka is walking through the Sanctuary. This scene is sort of a slice of life scene. Capturing a the daily lives of people. As Asuka walks she is greeted by the folks of the Sanctuary, as she is seen a hero and greatly respected for protecting the Sanctuary.
One impressive moment in this scene is when Asuka walks by a building that's being built - a hospital.
Author's Note:
The hospital Rei is in is really only suited for the EVA pilots and some WILLE staff and is not that big and near the EVANGELION facility. The village does have an existing hospital for the locals but it is not that big. A new hospital is being built to host more patients. Through the story we will show subtly the progression of the building built when characters pass by it. On of the themes in the story is demonstrating how great things can be done when humans unify together to reach a common goal. I thought a building being built throughout the story will visually show that. I will call this theme the "Better Together" theme.
I imagine when reading through the manga the reader will probably only recognize the progression of the building probably in it's 3rd viewing shown. 5 illustration will be made of the progression of this hospital and scatter them them through the chapters. 1 illustration shown in each of the 5 volumes.
When Asuka is greeted by the folks of the Sanctuary, she is being praised and handed gifts from grandmas, uncle, kids, etc... This slice of life scene is sort of a montage so no words, best expressed through great visual communication.
INT. MISATO'S OFFICE - WUNDER
Misato is sat on her bed crossed legged, she's drinking UCC coffee. She is holding a photo frame that's black, the angle is in a position to not give it away that it IS in fact a frame of a photo she's holding. It is in a position that the back of the frame is just black and what ever she's holding could be anything and up for the readers interpretation for NOW.
There is a knock at the door.
MISATO
Come in.
RITSUKO (She comes in with a Clipboard) Excuse me for interrupting something.
MISATO
No it's fine. So what is it?
RITSUKO
It's about Rei. We finished examination on her and the results came in.
MISATO (Looks at Ritsuko with a serious expression)
RITSUKO
She can start living with others but she will still need constant LCL exposure to maintain her existence. Once a week should be fine. But I don't know if we could keep this up for too long.
MISATO
Thanks for doing that. That's a life we just saved. But still... I am still under the suspicion that there might be more clones from the Ayanani series.
RITSUKO
Apparently there are. We also interrogated her. There's many of them at in NERV. It's safe to assume he is are using them for a plan of attack. But we expected that.
MISATO
This will surely be a nuisance.

KENSUKE

(Kensuke laughs at it, while scratching his head, he doesn't realize he had soap foam in his hands)
KENSUKE
Well, working there for a couple of years-I just felt I wasn't meant for it, you know? I found that working closely with people is the type of work I find value in. That's why I chose to stay here.
ASUKA
(Looks back at Kensuke with a poker face) Hmph. You Lilins and your communities disgust me.
KENSUKE
(SIGH)
Not this again Asuka... Your still still humans, stop calling us like you aren't.
ASUKA
That's because I am not one of you. (Asuka carries PenPen and holds him as if he were a baby)
KENSUKE

I could care less about him. All I know is that he is being hospitalized in some sort of safety prison near HQ.
KENSUKE
Did you guys talk?

Suicide? What happened to him?

Looks like a lot happened to him while he was at NERV. When we toke him in NERV attacked the WUNDER and took him away. I don't know the full details, he doesn't talk. (PenPen looking sad at Asuka)
KENSUKE
This sounds awful. When will he get discharged?
ASUKA
No clue. (Asuka puts down PenPen and high 5's him, PenPen high 5's back)
KENSUKE
Well if he gets dispatched soon, I'd gladly take him.
ASUKA
Suit yourself. (Asuka walks away)

Wait, you're leaving?

Yeah, just came to see you and say hi. (Asuka with her back turned walking away from Kensuke waves)

These Spears are powerful tools that operate the Progenitor Entities and their spawn, almost like a diagnostic or administrative tool.

Long ago in the beginning of time it was used to “freeze” the White Giant, Adam and later the Eva units, as if being penetrated by them causes them to immediately enter a catatonic state. The Spears can be used to control impacts to some extent, and that the Spear itself can be used to become something of a physical Tree of Life. Every Progenitor Entity comes with their own Spear.
While Misato monologues about these panels of the play on stage and the acting corresponds with what Misato is saying.
In the play they are acting out the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and and actors penetrating Jesus with a spear, the spear looks like a normal spear to not make it too obvious anymore of this visuals going on
This is a type of foreshadowing that I won't tell, but you can figure it out.
Misato then squints looking at the stage.

HIKARI
(Smiles and)
Oh it's fine Rei! You can ask as many questions as you can! Don't worry too much of what Asuka says, that's just in her nature!
(Hikari cracks an egg onto a bowl and gets closer to Rei)

HIKARI
That is a spatula! You use to mix, spread and lift food when cocking.
REI
(She holds the spatula looking down at it while turning it and viewing it through all angles. Make her examining the spatula look cute.)
HIKARI
Conveniently enough I am making scrabbled eggs! Using a spatula is best for making them! I will show you now Rei.

The next scene is my way of doing the ultimate monatge of showing the readers how deep of a rabbit hole Shinji's mindset has become.
INT. KENSUKE'S HOUSE
Shinji doesn't want to go out for several days. He doesn't wanna look at anybody. Shinji goes out. Shinji is walking aimlessly though the outskirts of the Sanctuary, contemplating.
Sakura sees Shinji and sits beside him. Sakura has been trying to help Shinji. The ext day Rei sits besides him.He is slowly then coming out of his shell. He is nearing his end of his depression and PTSD, through the help and being with others. A tear has slipped down Shinji’s cheek. But it could’ve been the rain. (This scene is raining. Shinji should then feel a great weight lifted and then return to his apartment, things start to feel normal. He reflects on his journey and all he has learned. If nothing else, he knows about what life has to offer and about the world of Eva more than he used to. So maybe it was all worth it. Maybe everything’s gonna be oka-
Next page it little cut’s Shinji’s off as his inner thoughts takes place:
The deluded ramblings of a foolish child. Shinji is yet again remembering his mistakes he has done in the past. The normality he felt, cracked and fell away, an illusion designed to plunge him deeper into agony and despair. He. Just. breaks.
He gives up. He gives up hope. He gives up his dreams and walks away. He doesn’t deserve happiness, he thought. Shinji in whatever he does at this point feels no joy, no pain and just is. Sakura, Rei and other Sanctuary members offer to help and hear his plight, they are all very nice. They treat him with gentle kindness as if he were a child who has fallen down the stairs for the first time. Nothing seems to work for Shinji. He sits in silence and thinks to himself. “I will be here forever.”
Shinji roars, but no sound comes out. She cries, but no tears come out. The emptiness that was once inside him has expanded to encompass his entire reality. Dark, cruel, blackness as far as the eye can see. Shinji sits back down. His face
using
white, his soul broken. His but a tiny human spirit shattered against his mammoth mistakes. At that moment Shinji knew his true defeat. He gives in.
Shinji finally looks in the mirror. He no longer respects the person staring back at him. This all happened in 1 year.
I am sorry.
People have reached out to Shinji and offered to help. But no one can help him. No one can save him. He's already dead.
Shinji pours a hot bath, the steam is comforting. He glimpsed his reflection beneath the water. His face is rippled and distorted. He no longer recognizes the person staring back at him.
At some point Shinji prays, yet he is not a religious person. He feels his prayer rise out of his mouth into the sky past the clouds, through space and enter the great cosmic unknown. Shinji experiences worlds different and alien and strange until finally it collides with the consciousness of some great cosmic being, infinitely older and more unknowable than anything humanity has ever encountered or ever will. God, Satan, some advanced alien life form, he does not know. He prays it, he begs it. He wishes death. He feels this massive entity stir it’s gargantuan lips (or beam of light) part and from them escapes a deep cosmic whisper (or beam of light) that crashes down through the heavens, down through the clouds, down through his roof,rupturing his reality shaking his soul, and with a silent deafening roar, it whispers: “No.”
(brief moment of silence, with a shocked Shinji face.)
He goes empty, the darkness once inside him now becomes his everything, not merely his reality, but his past, his present and his future. It twists infinitely across space and time infecting every moment of his life, each second that has come before, every second that will follow after, he sees it all, his entire existence was always leading to This. There is no escape. There never was. This is his end, this is all he is, this is all he will ever be. Forever and ever, and ever, and ever, and ever, and ever, and ever…
