BEAR’S BIG ADVENTURE TO THE DOCTORS

Bear woke up one day with a little tickle at the back of his throat and a funny feeling in his tummy.
“Oh no,” Mummy Bear said, “Looks like we have to go to the doctors!”
Bear wants YOU to come along with him today. Are you ready to be his helper?
Sitting in the waiting room is making Bear feel a little nervous, can you give Bear a BIG hug and tell him he has nothing to worry about?
Thanks! He doesn’t feel as nervous anymore!
“What
brings you to the doctors Bear?” The friendly doctor asked.
“I don’t feel very well,” replied Bear.
“Not to worry, let’s just do some tests to see what the problem is,” Dr Ko says.
The doctor needs YOUR help to run some tests for Bear - are you ready to be the doctor’s helper?
First up, we need to use a THERMOMETER to take Bear’s temperature. This might feel a little cold on his ear.
Let’s gently hold this in Bear’s ear. We do this to test how hot Bear is.
Can you count with us 3…2…1!
Perfect, it’s that easy.
The temperature looks a little high, but it’s nothing to worry about.
Next we need to take Bear’s BLOOD PRESSURE. This machine looks a little scary, but it doesn’t hurt at all! It feels like a big hug around your arm. It is to check how well the blood is pumping inside your body.
Let’s wrap the strap around Bear’s arm and count 3…2…1!
Bear feels a little squeeze and then it’s all done – everything looks good. Let’s move onto the next test.
For this test we need to listen to Bear’s breathing.
Let’s put the STETHOSCOPE on Bear’s tummy and listen.
Dr Ko tells Bear to “breathe in and out…in and out…in and out.” Perfect! Everything sounds good!
Next we have to look inside Bear’s mouth to see if there is any redness.
Can Bear say AHHHHHHH?
Let’s use our wooden stick and gently put it on Bear’s tongue.
There is a little bit of redness but that is ok!
Last thing we have to do is take a quick SWAB of Bear’s nose.
Now this sounds a little scary, but we need to place a little stick in his nose and swirl it around for 5 seconds.
You might feel like you have to sneeze but it won’t hurt at all. Ready helpers? Lets go. All done! Nothing to worry about.
“Ok Bear, all the test’s are done! You did so well,” Dr Ko says.
“It looks like you have a little cold, but that’s ok! Just take some MEDICINE and REST for a couple of days and you will be back to normal.”
Can you give Bear his medicine bottle? He has to take it twice a day for 3 days.
