Pendulum Fashion, like most things, has a pendulum dynamic. One season we’re embracing close-to-the-body knits and the next, oversized blazers are the rage. But, if I had to sum up this season’s fashion in two words, I’d say, “Anything Goes!”. One end of the pendulum is “loud fashion”. We came out of the pandemic embracing color and pattern, and our love affair with color and pattern has not abated. But, the pendulum swings to the hushed sophistication of “quiet luxury”. Think monochromatic dressing: greys...winter white... a return to the ease and comfort of head-to-toe black...lush cashmere and wool..the slippery sexiness of satin. That’s quiet luxury. So, as you take in the images of the season, keep a mental picture of your closet at the forefront. Chances are excellent you have pieces in your closet you can bring to the forefront and/or wear in different combinations. There’s a big benefit to this “recycling” of clothes in your wardrobe. It’s something each of us can do to reduce the significant impact the fashion industry has on the environment. From the production of textiles to the disposal of clothing, various processes in the fashion industry contribute to environmental degradation. Certainly, we need and want you to update and evolve your wardrobes – otherwise we’re out of business, right? But, I will preach to my last breath to buy only what you love...choose quality over quantity...take good care of your clothes and accessories…and build a wardrobe that works for your lifestyle, builds your confidence, and brings you joy! Onward.
