Our cover this month is a view of the Northern Lights taken from the garden of Forge Cottage in West End. I make no apologies for including two other photos on pages 13 and 34. It was a stunning event, with some smashing photos on the village Facebook Group.
This issue has a lot of info on early summer events: the Launton FC football tournaments over two weekends (page21), the Classic and Retro Car Show (page 20), and the regular meetings of the Over 60s, the WI (page 10), and the Historical Society (page 30). We also have the opening times for The Bull under new manager Natasha (page 16) and list the Sunday Quiz in the Diary Dates on page 38.
We have also had to think about our current policy of delivering copies to all houses in the village following an email requesting in strong terms that we recognise “No Junk Mail” notices. We have set up an online survey on the issue -see pages 24-25 for more details.
There are the results of May’s local election on page 31, and a very personal obituary for Fred Howson from his family on pages 26-27. Finally, the love story of the 1951 Chevvy that lives in West End is on pages 22 and 23.
