Nuestro Colegio es realmente bilingüe, con clases que se imparten en inglés por profesores nativos desde los 2 a los 18 años. Nuestros alumnos siguen el Currículum Nacional Británico de Reino Unido, junto con el “International Primary Currículum”, que comenzamos a implementar en 2016 en Primaria, para enriquecer nuestro plan de estudios con una dimensión más internacional, vital para nuestros cursos y nuestras perspectivas.

Nuestros alumnos se benefician de tener clases reducidas, atención personalizada y un ambiente familiar real, que estimula y enriquece su educación.

La felicidad de nuestros alumnos está en la base de todo lo que hacemos y es la clave del éxito en sus exámenes de IGCSE (Secundaria) y A Levels (Ba-

chillerato). Todos los años, muchos de nuestros estudiantes son aceptados en universidades de Reino Unido o universidades internacionales. Pero también tenemos un gran número de alumnos que acceden a grados superiores en España. Here at the British School of Vila-real we offer a uniquely British education in this region of Spain. Our school is genuinely bilingual, with classes taught in English by native speakers throughout the entire school from 2 to 18 years of age.

Our pupils follow the UK national curriculum as they progress through the school. The international Primary curriculum is also about to be launched here in 2016 to add a vital international dimension to our courses and outlook. Our pupils benefit from small class sizes, individual attention and a real family atmosphere which nurtures and encourages.

The happiness of our pupils is at the root of all that we do and is the key to our pupils’ achievement at IGCSE

and A level. Many of our students go on each year to UK and other international universities but we also have a large number who progress to higher education here in Spain. Indeed, as a bilingual school we ensure our pupils are properly educated in Spanish and Valenciano as well as the other subjects required to give them their passport to Spanish universities.

he British School of Vila-real está ubicado en la localidad de Vila-real en el sureste de la provincia de Castellón. Situado entre naranjos y con espectaculares vistas a la Sierra de Espadán, The British School of Vila-real es el lugar perfecto para la educación de los niños dentro de un entorno seguro y saludable. Burriana, Almazora, Castellón, Onda, Nules, Benicàssim, la Vall d’Uixó entre otras localidades, se encuentran a corta distancia y los aeropuertos de Valencia y Castellón están a menos de una hora del colegio. El clima excelente invita a practicar deportes y actividades al aire libre que a su vez fomentan un estilo de vida sano y activo. La estación de ferrocarril de Vila-real que nos une con Valencia y Castellón, también se encuentra a poca distancia del colegio.

he British School of Vila-real fue fundado hace más de 20 años, en 1996. Es el único colegio británico, privado y mixto de la provincia de Castellón que cuenta con todas las etapas educativas desde Infantil hasta Bachillerato. The British School of Vila-real forma parte del grupo Colegios Laude.

Desde mayo de 2014, The British School of Vila-real fue adquirido junto con el resto de Colegios Laude por la compañía británica ISP (International Schools Partnership).

El Colegio está reconocido por el Ministerio de Educación Español y por el British Council en el Reino Unido. Nuestros alumnos obtienen doble titulación, española y británica, lo que les permite optar a cualquier universidad Europea. Laude BSV es miembro de la Asociación de Colegios Británicos de España (NABSS) y está autorizado como centro examinador Edexcel y Cambridge.

Siguiendo el currículo británico, preparamos a nuestros alumnos para realizar los exámenes de IGCSE y los A Levels, equivalentes a la ESO y Bachillerato Español.

aude British School of Vila-real was founded more than 20 years ago, in 1996. It is the only private co-educational British School in Castellón and provides education from Early Years to Sixth Form. The British School of Vila-real is member of Colegios Laude.

From May 2014 The British School of Vila-real has been part of ISP, International Schools Partnership.

The school is recognised by the Spanish Ministry of Education and the British Council in the United Kingdom. Our students obtain British and Spanish qualifications and this enables them study at any European university. Laude BSV is member of the National Association of British Schools in Spain (NABSS) and is authorised as an examination centre by the Edexcel and Cambridge exam boards.

Following the British National Curriculum we prepare our students for IGCSE and A Levels exams, equivalent to the Spanish Secondary Certificate (ESO) and the Sixth Form Certificate (Bachillerato).

As a part of the International Schools Partnership, the British School of Vila-real shares the passion you hold to help your child grow and learn, to be able to contribute to the world in which they will soon find their place. Your child will be inspired to be curious and creative, as we equip them with the abilities they will need to nourish such talents. arly Years Foundation Stage comprende los cursos de Nursery 2, Nursery 3 y Reception. Key Stage 1 incluye Year 1 y Year 2. El objetivo de esta etapa es la adquisición de las lenguas española e inglesa de forma natural así como el desarrollo de su creatividad, destrezas de comunicación, sentido matemático, habilidades psicomotrices y percepción de sí mismos y del mundo que les rodea, al mismo tiempo que nos centramos en fomentar el bienestar afectivo y social de cada uno de ellos.

En esta etapa de la enseñanza se potencia la igualdad entre los niños teniendo en cuenta sus necesidades educativas. Promocionamos la enseñanza y aprendizaje eficaz para que los niños adquieran los conocimientos, destrezas y conceptos que necesitarán para emprender su viaje en la vida escolar. Se pone en práctica esta ética en un ambiente ordenado, atractivo y estimulante a través de un entretenido currículum que a la vez reta a los alumnos.

Early years Foundation stage E

arly Years Foundation Stage covers Nursery 2 to Reception and Key Stage 1 includes Year 1 and Year 2. The objective of this Key Stage is the acquisition of English and Spanish in a natural way as well as the development of creativity, communication, importance of play, mathematical and motor skills, alongside environmental and self-awareness.

Throughout this stage of learning each child is treated equally taking into account their educational needs. We promote effective teaching and learning to acquire the knowledge, skills and concepts children need to begin their educational journey. We do this through a challenging and enjoyable curriculum within a stimulating and attractive learning environment.

ey Stage 2 abarca los cursos desde Year 3 hasta Year 6. Al igual que en la etapa de Infantil, el centro continúa impartiendo el Currículo Británico en Primaria complementándolo con la homologación española a lo largo de todas las etapas educativas impartiendo asímismo las tres asignaturas del currículum español: Lengua Española, Ciencias Naturales y Sociales y Valenciano. En esta etapa, los alumnos trabajan la compresión y consolidación de todas las áreas englobadas dentro de dicho currículum, que cuenta con tres asignaturas troncales: Inglés, Matemáticas y Ciencias, complementadas por las siguientes asignaturas: Arte y Diseño, Informática, Historia, Geografía, Música, Educación Física y Educación Personal, Social y para la Salud.

El objetivo en la etapa de Primaria es ofrecer una educación de calidad a través del Currículum Nacional Británico. Esto se consigue gracias a un equipo docente cualificado y de alta calidad y adoptando la metodología británica, que nos permite utilizar una gran variedad de técnicas y estilos de aprendizaje.

Nuestros alumnos estudian tres lenguas, haciendo uso del método de inmersión lingüística en inglés en un entorno seguro, feliz y estimulante en el que puedan crecer y convertirse en estudiantes independientes.

ey Stage 2 covers Year 3 to Year 6. As in Early Years Foundation Stage, the British Curriculum continues to be taught in Primary and follows the Spanish Homologation by teaching 3 subjects from the Spanish system: Spanish Language, Ciencias Sociales y Ciencia naturales y Valenciano. In this stage, students work on the comprehension and consolidation of all areas encompassed by the aforementioned curriculum, which comprises three core subjects: English, Mathematics and Science, complemented by the following foundation subjects: Art and Design, Computing, History, Geography, Music, Physical Education, and Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE).

The aim of the Primary stage is to offer a quality education through the British National Curriculum.

This is achieved thanks to a high-quality, fully qualified teaching team and by adopting the British methodology, allowing us to implement a wide variety of learning styles and techniques. Our pupils are taught three languages, using the system of linguistic immersion within a secure, happy and stimulating environment in which they can grow and develop into independent learners.

n nuestro afán de continua innovación BSV ha implantado en toda Primaria, IPC (International Primary Curriculum).

I

n our quest for continual innovation, BSV has implemented IPC (The International Primary Curriculum) across all of the primary school years.

The IPC has been designed to ensure not only rigorous learning, but also to help teachers to make learning exciting, active and meaningful for students. The IPC has a clearly comprehensive and global approach; helping children to understand the circumstances of the place in which they live and connecting learning with the perspective of other people in other countries. The IPC is used in schools in more than ninety countries around the world.

El IPC ha sido diseñado para asegurar no solo un aprendizaje riguroso, sino también para ayudar a los profesores a que todo aprendizaje sea emocionante, activo y significativo para los alumnos. El IPC tiene un enfoque claramente global y mundial; ayudando a los niños a entender las circunstancias del lugar donde viven y conectando este aprendizaje con la perspectiva de otras personas en otros países. El IPC es utilizado en colegios, en más de 90 países de todo el mundo.

A lo largo de cada trimestre trabajaremos dos unidades IPC con una fuerte participación de los alumnos en su planteamiento, en el diseño y en su seguimiento. Esta es una metodología interdisciplinar que les ayudará a ampliar su campo de intereses, proponiéndoles nuevas experiencias y animándoles en el uso de diferentes recursos.

1. The school subjects of the programme. The learning objectives for each one of these subjects are targets which are as important as those included in the Official Curriculum Design and extremely motivating and novel for students.

2. Personal development. The programme will help foster responsibility and autonomy.

Along the course of each term, we will work on two units of the IPC with strong participation by students in its approach, in the design and its follow up. This is an interdisciplinary methodology which will help them expand their field of interest by offering them new experiences and encouraging the use of different resources.

Each project will have an attractive and motivating starting and finishing point in which Multiple Intelligences are integrated.

Secundaria E

n Secundaria se imparte el Currículum Nacional Británico a un alto nivel en todas las áreas. Su principal atractivo es la gran variedad de asignaturas que se introducen en Key Stage 3 además de la preparación de los exámenes de IGCSE en Key Stage 4.

El éxito radica en la calidad profesional de los profesores, innovadores y entusiastas. Todos ellos cuentan con gran experiencia en la preparación académica de los alumnos.

En Secundaria, ofrecemos una amplia variedad de asignaturas que permite a nuestros alumnos experimentar diferentes aspectos de la educación y planificar sus vidas futuras. Siguen el currículum inglés a la vez que cursan las asignaturas necesarias del currículum español: Lengua y Literatura, Valenciano y Ciencias Sociales para conseguir la Homologación del título de la ESO. En la etapa de KS3 estudian Alemán, Francés y Chino como idiomas extranjeros que más tarde pueden cursar como asignaturas oficiales de IGCSE y A Level. Nuestros acuerdos con los

Institutos Confucious, Francés y Goethe Institute y los resultados académicos obtenidos, son una clara muestra de la fortaleza de nuestro plan de estudios en Lenguas Extranjeras Contamos también con un departamento de Orientación Vocacional. Durante la educación secundaria se llevan a cabo evaluaciones aptitudinales y de preferencias profesionales para generar un consejo orientador que facilite el acceso a estudios superiores. Los alumnos conocen de primera mano la realidad de diferentes estudios y profesiones a través actividades organizadas por las universidades.

Al mismo tiempo, en Secundaria damos especial relevancia al cuidado y atención de alumno, “Pastoral Care”, donde de forma experimentada y profesional se presta asistencia de forma sensible a los alumnos que a menudo se encuentran en situación de estrés, causada por los retos difíciles a los que deben enfrentarse.

Secondary school T

he Secondary School offers the British National Curriculum to a high level. The main attraction is the wide choice of subjects that are introduced in Key Stage 3 and provided as IGCSE courses. The key of the success is the staffing where members of staff are very experienced in delivering the courses to a high standard, with innovation and enthusiasm.

At Secondary Level, the exposure to such a variety of subjects allows the pupils to sample different aspects of education and to start planning their professional lives. Students follow the British Curriculum strengthened by the opportunity to also study the Spanish Curriculum (Lengua y Literatura, Valenciano and Ciencias Sociales). Spanish, German, French and Chinese are studied throughout Key Stage 3 as Modern Foreign Languages and are offered as an option at GCSE and A Level. Our agreement with the Goethe Institute, the French Institute and the Confucious Institute and our results are further evidence

of our ability to provide a strong MFL curriculum to our students.

There is also a proactive Careers Department. During the Secondary stage, students complete evaluations on aptitude and career choices in order for the School to give students advice and to help them understand the requirements and admissions procedures of Higher Education Institutions. Students have first-hand experience of the different study requirements and professions through organised activities.

Great emphasis is placed on Pastoral care. Pupils enjoy the security of support from experienced professionals who provide sensitive assistance to pupils who will often find themselves in stressful situations and will inevitably face some tough challenges along this particular part of their educational journey.

os exámenes de los IGCSE son la última parte de la educación obligatoria en el Reino Unido.

La siguiente etapa es la de Bachillerato o Key Stage 5. Comprende los años 12 y 13. Los estudiantes se preparan para los exámenes de los GCE Advanced Level (Nivel Avanzado) al final de año 13. Estos exámenes son los que necesitan para acceder a la universidad. Con los A Levels nuestros estudiantes tienen acceso directo a las universidades en España y también tienen la opción de estudiar en universidades en otros países del mundo ya que consiguen la doble titulación: española y británica En Bachillerato contamos con un grupo de alumnos que no cesan de sorprendernos con sus cualidades tanto académicas como personales. Esta etapa es la que más nos distingue ya que ningún colegio de la provincia de Castellón ofrece este plan de estudios.

En Bachillerato nuestros alumnos se especializan eligiendo las asignaturas que más les interesan de acuerdo a sus aspiraciones universitarias. Esto permite que nuestros alumnos tengan un programa de estudios personalizado con la flexibilidad que aporta el Currículum Británico.

Los alumnos de Bachillerato son referencia e inspiración para los más jóvenes. Es su responsabilidad dar un buen ejemplo con su comportamiento, vestimenta y actitud. La relación con los profesores se convierte en colaboración para obtener el mejor resultado posible.

Sixth form T

he GCSE exams are the end of compulsory education in the UK and are followed by Sixth Form or Key Stage 5. This comprises of Years 12 and 13 and students work towards sitting their GCE Advanced Level examinations at the end of Year 13. These examinations not only provide access to British universities but they also enable our students to enter Spanish universities or indeed give them the option of applying to any university around the world.

The Sixth Form is a vibrant body of students who continue to display multiple talents in so many areas, both academically and socially. This is where we make a difference because no other schools in Castellón has this programme of studies. Our students are able to specialise in their chosen subjects. This allows students to create their own study plan with the flexibility that the British Curriculum offers.

Sixth Form students are seen by many of the younger pupils as inspiration for the future. It is their responsibility to set a good example at all times in their behavior, dress and attitude. The relationship with their teachers becomes more a collaboration in order to achieve the best possible results.

Los alumnos disfrutan de un seguro que cubre cualquier accidente ocurrido durante su estancia en el colegio y la ruta escolar. La seguridad de nuestros estudiantes es fundamental, por ello se pone un especial énfasis ante cualquier incidente que pudiera ocurrir.

The students therefore have an insurance policy that covers any accident that could occur during school time and the bus route to and from the college. The safety of our students is of paramount importance.

Los accidentes e indisposiciones leves son atendidos inmediatamente por nuestra coordinadora de primeros auxilios. En el caso de una emergencia grave, los alumnos son inmediatamente trasladados al Hospital de La Plana, que se encuentra a 200 metros de Laude British School of Vila-real y sus familias son informadas.

NECESIDADES EDUCATIVAS ESPECIALES Se lleva a cabo la valoración y la propuesta de intervención individualizada con los alumnos que por sus características requieren un apoyo extra para acceder a los aprendizajes y/o para desarrollar todo su potencial intelectual. Como medida de prevención se realizan sistemáticamente evaluaciones colectivas de las aptitudes intelectuales en los cursos clave Year 2, Year 6, Year 9 y Year 11.

ESCUELA DE PADRES Se constituye como un espacio de reunión para el intercambio de experiencias de educación, así como un proceso de formación para un mejor desempeño en la tarea de ser padres.

ORIENTACIÓN VOCACIONAL Durante la educación secundaria se llevan a cabo evaluaciones sobre preferencias profesionales para generar un consejo orientador que facilite el acceso a estudios superiores. Durante los años de bachillerato los alumnos conocen de primera mano la realidad de diferentes estudios y profesiones a través de actividades organizadas con las universidades.

CUIDADO Y ATENCIÓN DEL ALUMNO “PASTORAL CARE” Ponemos especial énfasis en el cuidado y atención del alumno. Nos aseguramos de que todos los alumnos reciban apoyo de profesionales experimentados cuando se encuentran en situaciones estresantes a la hora de afrontar retos difíciles. A cada alumno se le asigna un tutor, que asume la responsabilidad inicial del bienestar académico y pastoral de todos los alumnos de la clase.

The minor accidents are immediately attended to by our onsite nurse. If accidents are of a serious nature, the student will be taken to the La Plana Hospital, located 200 metres away from The British School of Vila-real.

SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS Students who require additional support are evaluated by the School psychologist. Based on the results of the evaluations, an intervention plan is designed for each individual pupil, his/her teachers and possibly also for the parents. This plan is regularly reviewed in order to assess the child’s progress. As part of the school’s internal assessment programme, aptitude tests are carried out in Years 2, 6, 9 and 11.

WORKSHOPS FOR PARENTS This is a regular forum which parents may attend where they can discuss and share educational experiences. It is also an opportunity for them to learn more about how best to support the school, the learning and educational needs of their children.

CAREERS ADVICE During the Secondary stage, students complete evaluations on aptitude and career choices in order for the School to give them advice and to help them understand the requirements and admissions procedures of Higher Education Institutions. Students have first-hand experience of the different study requirements and professions through organised activities.

PASTORAL CARE Great emphasis is placed on pastoral care. Pupils enjoy the security of support from experienced professionals who provide sensitive assistance to pupils who may find themselves in stressful situations and facing some tough challenges. Each pupil is assigned to a form tutor, who takes initial responsibility for the academic and pastoral welfare of all pupils in this class.

Durante todo el curso los alumnos disfrutan de una gran variedad de excursiones y están basadas principalmente en los temas que se estudian en las diferentes asignaturas. Estas excursiones se organizan para reforzar lo aprendido en el aula y al mismo tiempo para que disfruten de lo que han aprendido.

Throughout the Academic Year pupils enjoy a number of educational trips that are based on topics which are being studied in class. The excursions are designed to help reinforce what has been taught in the classroom and are enjoyed by all age groups.

AULA MATINAL Todas las mañanas, The British School of Vila-real abre sus puertas a las 7:45 horas para aquellas familias que necesitan conciliar su vida personal y profesional. Los niños están atendidos por personal del centro. Este servicio es totalmente gratuito e incluye desayuno.

CURSO DE SÁBADOS Nuestro Curso de Sábados abre sus puertas cada sábado por la mañana entre las 10.00 y las 13.00 horas. Preparamos a nuestros alumnos para los exámenes de Cambridge desde los siete años.

SATURDAY SCHOOL Our Saturday School is open to children from other schools and takes place every Saturday morning between 10.00am and 1.00 pm. Children from three to fourteen years old are catered for in classes grouped according to age then ability. Students sit Cambridge exams from seven years of age.

SATURDAY SCHOOL FOR ADULTS Designed to provide quality English language teaching with the emphasis on genuine communication skills. Saturday School for adults is open to parents or adults who need to learn English or wish to improve their level of English.

SUMMER SCHOOL Every July there is a summer school which is designed to stimulate and entertain the children as well as consolidate their knowledge of English.

Amplio y rico currículum EDUCACIÓN FÍSICA

ara nosotros son igual de importantes los beneficios que aporta el ejercicio al aire libre que las habilidades e interés que el deporte aporta a nuestros alumnos. El deporte también proporciona un ambiente donde los niños pueden aprender sobre el trabajo en equipo, el liderazgo, cómo superar desafíos, cómo aceptar la derrota y ser magnánimo con el triunfo.

Se anima a los alumnos a participar en una amplia variedad de actividades físicas y deportivas desde una edad temprana, incluyendo la gimnasia, atletismo, danza, fútbol, basket, tenis, bádminton, rugby, hockey, etc. Cuando los alumnos pasan a primaria compiten entre las casas escolares en los Días del Deporte o en Galas de Natación, y también realizan competiciones deportivas por equipos, representando al colegio, como el Campeonato VIS Cup entre colegios internacionales de la Comunidad Valenciana.

Nuestra piscina cubierta se mantiene a una temperatura constante de 29°C y cuenta con nuevos vestuarios totalmente equipados. Realizamos diferentes clases de natación para todas las edades y habilidades.

INFORMÁTICA Las clases de informática se imparten en tres aulas con ordenadores, compuestas de nuevos equipos con monitores de pantalla plana. Desde temprana edad, los alumnos aprenden las técnicas básicas y estas se van desarrollando con los años.

Nuestras clases están equipadas con pizarras interactivas y en Infantil hemos introducido nuevos iPads

que formarán parte de la educación integral de los alumnos.

Utilizamos las nuevas tecnologías en todo nuestro plan de estudios de forma transversal, lo cual nos distingue de otros colegios de la provincia, ya que ningún otro centro las utiliza dentro de su plan de estudios.

También utilizamos plataformas digitales para ampliar el aprendizaje de nuestros alumnos tales como ActiveLearn y MyMaths.

ARTE El Departamento de Arte está ubicado en una zona luminosa y amplia donde los alumnos pueden aprender técnicas de dibujo y pintura así como otras destrezas tales como impresión en relieve, los principios de las cerámicas y otras formas de expresión artística. El arte forma parte del currículum de todos los alumnos hasta Year 9. De ahí en adelante será una opción muy solicitada en los cursos de GCSE y A-level.

MÚSICA E INTERPRETACIÓN En el colegio, animamos a todos los alumnos a que participen en obras de teatro, conciertos y en cualquier evento del colegio. Nuestros alumnos cantan, actúan y bailan en el escenario con luces, micrófonos y música en vivo y en directo con unos estándares de calidad fantásticos. Nuestras últimas producciones han sido: “El concierto de Invierno” y “Charlie y la Fábrica de Chocolate”

W

e place equal importance on the benefits of fresh air and exercise, as well as new skills and interest that sport brings to our pupils. Sports also provides an environment where children can learn about teamwork, leadership, how to overcome challenges and how to be gracious in defeat and be magnanimous in triumph.

Pupils are encouraged to take part in a wide variety of physical activities and sports from a young age including gymnastics, athletics, dance, football, basketball, tennis, badminton, rugby, hockey, cricket, etc. From Primary, they are encouraged to represent their House through inter-House competitions such as Sports Days or Swimming Galas, and their School through team fixtures like the VIS Cup Competition.

Our indoor swimming pool is maintained at a constant 29°C and has new fully-equipped changing rooms. We run a variety of swimming sessions for all ages and swimming abilities.

ICT ICT is conducted in three fully equipped, purpose built computer suits with state of the art computers and large flat screen monitors. Basic IT skills are developed as the children advance in years and pupils are taught from an early age.

We use computing skills across the curriculum and no other schools in our province includes this in their curriculums. Bussines Studies, Graphic Design or Art are some the subjects that are directly connected to the use of the new technologies.

We also use educational digital platforms that we use to enhance the learning such as ActiveLearn and MyMaths.

ART The Art Department occupies light and spacious accommodation in which students learn the techniques of drawing and painting as well as other skills including relief printing, the principles of ceramics and other forms of artistic expression. Art is a part of the curriculum for all children up to Year 9. Thereafter, it is an IGCSE option and A-level.

MUSIC AND DRAMA All students are encourage to participate in school plays, concerts and any form of public speaking. Pupils sing, act and dance on stage with lights, microphones and live music to fantastic production standards. Recent shows include ‘The Winter Concert’ and ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’

Our classes are fully equipped with interactive boards and in Infants we have introduced new iPads which will form an integral part of their learning through play assessment.
