combined to create a serene and tranquil residential feel during your stay. Amenities include king size or twin beds, a Nespresso coffee machine, a walk-in shower, a smart HD TV and a wireless sound system.

Just minutes after arrival I was already in an Uber and off to check-in to my hotel, the Pillows Grand Hotel Place Rouppe. A quick ten minute drive dropped me in front of a neoclassical building that blended with its surroundings. Upon entering the lobby of the newly refurbished property you are welcomed by the staff at the Living-Resto & Winebar, the dining establishment onsite. There is no front desk I realize quickly as a staff member guides me to a table at the restaurant and offers me an arrival drink. She sits down with me to briefly go over my reservation before heading up to my room. The check-in process is smooth and takes just a few minutes to complete.

After unwinding a bit in my plush king size bed I decided it was time to hit the town and see what this city was all about. It had been over ten years since my last visit and I knew things had changed. With a craving for Mexican food, it was Cinco de Mayo after all, and a recommendation from the staff it was off to check out Los Tacos. Complete with a mariachi singer, tequila shots and fajitas this place did not disapoint. We had such a great time we ended up meeting two locals that decided to become our tour guides for the evening. They took us to a handful of sites including the infamous Manneken Pis, a famous bronze sculpture of a little boy urinating. The locals sure have an interesting way of paying tribute to their sense of humor. The current statue is a replica which dates from 1965 while the original is kept in the Museum of the City of Brussels.

nce on board, I found my seat, stored my luggage above and took out my laptop. I had planned to get a few hours of writing in but as I sat back and relaxed in the comfortable seats a server strolled by and handed me a glass of champagne. After champs and a delicious lunch I had arrived in the centre of Brussels. The trip time was roughly under two hours in total which went by quicker than I had imagined it would.

The property offers an ideal location to immerse yourself in the pulse of the city which is why I had chosen it as my homebase to explore everything Brussels has to showcase. Just a few steps away from the city’s best sights, local entertainment scene complete with bars, restaurants, theatres and galleries, you can pretty much walk everywhere and certainly do not need a car. The rooms are modern and simple with all the comfort and amentities one could need. Each of their 43 rooms unveil spacious windows, fine linens, original artworks and a dash of contemporary design all

After explaining the point of this structure we were told there is another statue of a girl and it is situated perfectly next door to one of the best beer bars in Brussels, Delirium CafĂŠ. If you enjoy a brewski or two then a trip to Brussels would not be complete without a stop at this hotspot which serves over 2000 types of beer. Delirium CafĂŠ holds the Guinness World Record for the most beers offered with 2004 which was obtained in 2004. Here beer enthusiasts can choose from the Trappists, famous Belgian Abbay, strong brown beers, fruits or lighter from Belgium and the world. For those looking to try something new they offer unusual beers like chocolate, banana, with walnut Coco, spices, hot pepper, gingerbread and even gluten free beers. The night ended with a gaze upon the Jeanneke Pis, a modern fountain and statue depicting a little girl with her hair in pigtails. This particular status, as if being shamed is unfortunately situated hidden at the dead end of an alley. As we said goodbye to our newfound friends we know had reason to return to the city. There is so much to see and do in the city and with our own personal tour guides offering to show us around the next time we pay a visit it makes the decision to return that much easier!
