We come together again to celebrate our family heritage, meet new family members, catch up with the ones we know, eat good food and have great fun. The Beebe Washington and King Family have been coming together bi-annually since 1975 and not even the COVID Epidemic could keep us apart. It is very important that we continue this tradition that was set forth some 48 years ago. My children and their children as well as yours need to be able to understand the history of our family, the struggles and successes that we have made. As we celebrate this year’s reunion let’s have fun catching up, laughing and making memories but let us also look around and see who is missing from our mist, and commit to encouraging those that are not here to plan to attend the next one!!
I pray that you all have safe travels back home and that things are well when you get back.
Peace and Love,
Doris Everett PresidentJuly 21, 2023
Greetings to the Beebe, Washington, and King Families,
I hope this letter finds you and your family in good health and high spirits. As a Robeson County Board of Commissioners member, I am delighted to extend my warmest greetings and heartfelt gratitude for choosing our County for your 2023 family reunion. I know that the roots of the Beebe, Washington, and King Families run deep in Robeson and surrounding counties. I understand the importance of family bonds and the value of reconnecting with loved ones. I pray that your family has a fun-filled reunion that will add to the years of memories that date back to 1975 when you hosted your first official reunion. You are commended for your commitment to share the legacy of your forefathers by continuing this wonderful family tradition.
I wish you a joyous and memorable 24th Bi-Annual family reunion filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments.
Best Regards

BEEBE
I DON’T HAVE TO SHOUT THAT I’M A B-E-E-B-E, (Repeat)
I JUST BE A BEEBE AND I KNOW THE WORLD WILL SEE ME SO, I DON’T HAVE TO SHOUT THAT I’M A B-E-E-B-E.
WASHINGTON
I JUST WANT TO TELL YOU I’M A WASH-I-N-G-TON, (Repeat)
I WASH AWAY MY TROUBLES AND THEY “POP” LIKE A BUBBLE SO, IT’S LOTS AND LOTS OF FUN TO BE A WASH-I-N-G-TON.
KING
I DON’T HAVE A CROWN BUT I’M A K-I-N-G KING, (Repeat) MY FAITH IS MY STORY, AND I’LL GET MY CROWN IN GLORY SO LET ME DO MY ROYAL THING AND BE A K-I-N-G KING.
B.W.K.
WE’RE THE ROYAL MEMBERS OF THE BWK, GEE-WIZ, ISN’T THAT FINE?
AND WE LOVE YOU, SO TREAT US KIND, WE’RE HAPPY ALL THE TIME, YES, WE MINGLE WITH OTHER FOLK BUT REPRESENTING “BIG THREE” IS NO JOKE, WE’RE THE ROYAL MEMBERS OF THE BWK, GEE-WIZ, ISN’T THAT FINE?
WORDS BY URIAS BEEBEBecause we have forgotten our ancestors our children no longer give us honor.
Because we have lost the path our ancestors cleared, kneeling in perilous undergrowth, our children cannot find their way.
Because we have banished the God of our ancestors, our children cannot pray.
Because the long wails of our ancestors have faded beyond our hearing, our children cannot hear us crying.
Because we have abandoned our wisdom of mothering and fathering, our befuddled children give birth to children they neither want nor understand.
Because we have forgotten how to love, the adversary is within our gates, and holds us up to the mirror of the world, shouting, Regard the loveless.
Therefore, we pledge to bind ourselves again to one another;
To embrace our lowliest,
To keep company with our loneliest,
To educate our illiterate,
To feed our starving,
To clothe our ragged,
To do all good things, knowing that we are more than keepers of our brothers and sisters. We are our brothers and sisters.
In honor of those who toiled and implored God with golden tongues, and in gratitude to the same God who brought us out of hopeless desolation,
We make this pledge.

We are so blessed to have our Mother here to celebrate another family reunion. Let us tell you about this special lady and what she means to us.
Her mom, Francis King was a no nonsense, strong, caring and honest woman. Her father, Landres King, was a builder of churches, a preacher, a water finder/pump builder, and a man of few words who intensely loved His Heavenly Father, as well as loved and provided for his wife and seven children. Of her siblings, George, Hathaway, Fred, Vera, Pauline, Beatrice and Nellie, Myrtle is the youngest. She stayed close to home, and after her husband, James Cromartie passed away at an early age, she built a home beside her parents and her sister and brother-inlaw, George and Pauline. At 95 years young, she still remains in that very same home where she raised and nurtured 7 children and a host of grandkids and great grandkids.
She has told us all, on a few occasions, how she won the talent show at school singing Stormy Weather by Lena Horne. While her dream of being a professional singer did not pan out, she shared her beautiful singing voice around the house and in her church choir at Little Marsh Chapel Church. It’s a special treat to hear her sing one of her favorites such as “How Great Thy Art”. She raised her children in the same church and shared her love of Jesus and singing with them.
In her early years, Mom trained to be a cosmetologist by attending Madam C.J.Walker’s Beauty School in NYC, New York. Each of her daughters benefitted from her hair styling skills. Boy, could she press some hair! Mom also worked for many years in the laundry at Pope Air Force base. She enjoyed growing rose bushes, tending her vegetable garden, canning fruits and vegetables, making homemade biscuits, and playing cards. Mom to this day, enjoys laughter and has a sweet, easy going way about her. But make no mistake, she could be tough when she needs to be. And all her children knew the consequences when she told us to go outside and bring her a switch!
As Grandma Francis aged, Mom became her full-time caregiver, which she was honored to do. In fact, her love of caring for others leads us to one of Myrtle’s greatest accomplishments. Following through on her brilliant idea to purchase her sister’s home next-door and convert it to a Family Care Home, all while caring for her Mom.
With the partnership of her oldest son Allen, the doors to Cromartie Family Care Home opened in 1982. It started with 7 beds and after a building addition, evolving Administration roles by her, Allen, her middle daughter, Tammy and supportive roles from all family members, the business is still open with 11 beds today. The blessing has been that Mom combined two loves of being an entrepreneur and caring for others, which has provided a legacy for her children, a home for many and employment for some in the community. She has long since retired, but every now and then she likes to keep tabs on what’s happening, at what we know of today as Cromartie Spring Village Resthome.
We love you Mom and thanks for being a pillar of strength, love and support to all of us. Keep smiling.
With Love, Your children, Wandra (Marvin), Allen, Craig, Tammy (Byron), Michael (Cheryl) and Penny (Michael)

Our thoughts are always with the Beebe-Washington-King Family Members that have gone on before us.
We celebrate Our Family Reunion From 1975-2023
With them forever in our Hearts!!
Is a time to remember A time to laugh, A time to celebrate . . .
A time to share old stories And make new memories.
A time to see each other In the faces all around us And find reflections of ourselves
In hearts both young and old
A Reunion is a coming together
That strengthens the bond of family And reminds us of the gift of belonging
A chance to share our history
A reason to celebrate our past
A time to welcome our future . . . As a family
