The SOCIAL LIFE

![]()

When Laura and I first dreamed up Larry King London we wrote down on paper how we hoped it would be. It said we wanted to create a space, where staff are happy, where they wake up never dreading work, where they feel appreciated, respected and a part of a family. We wanted clients to feel welcome, never intimidated, like they’d walked into our home and were welcome to stay all day. We called it “A Social Life For Your Hair.”
“If you build it, they will come.” That line has always felt like a guiding star for us. And it’s proven true - from opening our first salon doors, to creating four beautiful spaces filled with incredible people, to seeing our products being used in homes all over the world. Every time we see someone tagging us, or spotting a bottle on a bathroom shelf, it feels like a pinch-me moment. With a mix of manifesting, hard work, and a whole lot of passion, we’ve built everything we once imagined.
But none of this would mean anything without the amazing people who’ve been part of the journey. To our brilliant team - you’re the heartbeat of Larry King London. Your talent, creativity, and belief have brought so many ideas to life. From perfecting cuts and colours to testing formulas late at night, from sharing laughs in the salon to supporting each other through the busiest days, you’ve helped turn a dream into something real. We’re endlessly grateful for every one of you. And to our clients, our community, our friends - you’ve trusted us with your hair, cheered us on, and shared in our vision. You’ve made us believe in what’s possible, and you’ve helped shape Larry King London into what it is today.
This issue isn’t just about a new product (though we’ve got something special for your hair, come rain or shine). It’s about pressing pause, looking around, and taking a moment to say thank you. To celebrate the big wins and the little moments, the spark that started it all and the incredible energy that keeps it alive every day.
Because for us, Larry King London has never just been about hair. It’s about people, about creativity, about building something that lasts. We’ve come a long way and we’re so proud of what we’ve created so far, more exciting chapters are still to come - and we can’t wait to share them with you.

Looking back on 25 years of Larry King London in the making. From first dates to salon launches - it’s been quite the journey. A huge thank you to everyone that has been with us along the way.

We’ve gone back to the start of our business journey and covered everything inbetween for this issue of Come Rain or Shine. We have new product launches, new team members, new salons and pages of advice from our experts. Sit down with a cuppa tea, slippers on and get comfy while you turn the pages.

25 years ago, an unaware curly-girl stepped foot into a London salon on her lunch break. She left with a haircut that - at the time - she didn’t know would shape her future. We sat down with our wonderful founders - and husband and wife dream team - Larry King & Laura Amor King to go back right to the start and hear their story firsthand. This is the making of Larry King London.
We’re thrilled to welcome a host of talented new hair stylists and colourists to the Larry King salons. Their fresh creativity, skill, and passion for exceptional hair will bring even more inspiration to our chairs. Whether you’re after a transformative cut, vibrant colour, or effortless styling, our growing team is here to help you look and feel your best.

We’re excited to announce the launch of our third hair salon, now open in the heart of Marylebone Lane, London. This beautiful new space embodies the signature Larry King experience - luxurious, welcoming, and effortlessly chic, right in the heart of where Larry & Laura met. Come and see us for expert cuts, colour, and styling in our newest home.

Beautiful hair starts at the root! Which is why we have released our cleanest product to date, Clean As A Whistle. Our new Scalp Scrub is expertly formulated with pink Himalayan salt to exfoliate, cleanse, and invigorate your scalp. This gentle yet effective, sulphate free treatment lifts away impurities and product build-up, promoting a healthier, refreshed foundation for beautiful hair.

Twenty-five years ago, a young woman with curly hair walked into a London salon. She left with a haircut that, unbeknownst to her at the time, would shape her future. We sat down with our wonderful founders and the dream team, Larry and Laura King, to revisit that initial spark and hear their story firsthand.
Laura: We were both in separate careers and trying to do well for our kids and give them a good life. And we had this one chat - that I think we both remember really clearly – where we thought, right, let’s just stop trying to do our own things and let’s just do it together and make that brilliant. We called it Larry’s World: the blog that started it all.
Larry: And then not long after that, we started to plan opening our first salon which is in South Kensington. Laura designed all of the interiors and also works on designing the website, the products, the packaging. I’m just responsible for the hair side of things - along with a great team. And then we launched Larry King Haircare two years after opening the salons. Having someone like Laura working with me, and the other guys from the Larry King Haircare team, is that she tends to see things that hairdressers don’t spot.
Laura: Yeah, there’s a few things that hairdressers do because they’ve been hairdressers so long that they just do it without thinking. And so when I’m in the salon, I’m picking up on those little tricks that they know and then trying to turn those into products. As a prime example our little best seller the Flyaway Kit.
Larry: And, you know, Laura came up with that idea because she’d seen us on backstage on shows using smaller brushes to define people’s hair.
Laura: Marylebone is where it all started. We met in Marylebone, 25 years ago.
Larry: I worked on Marylebone High Street at Toni & Guy.
Laura: And I was on Chiltern Street - I also got my wedding dress on Chiltern Street! And I came into Toni & Guy after I hadn’t had a haircut for two years.
Larry: And then you didn’t like the haircut I gave you.
Laura: *laughs* No I didn’t really like it, because we blow dried it straight.
Larry: And then we went curly and then it was great!
Laura: So for us, Marylebone is where it all started and that’s why it’s so special.
Larry: We always knew we wanted to come back to Marylebone. And we had our first kiss on a zebra crossing here. A quick peck.
Laura: Yeah, it was a bit awkward.
Larry: It wasn’t for me!
Laura: It was for me. *laughing*
LAURA, WHAT DID YOU THINK OF LARRY’S HAIR?
Laura: I thought Larry’s hair was amazing back then. It wasn’t grey.
Larry: Great thanks, what are you saying about how it is now?
Laura: I mean it’s still nice.
Larry: I thought everyone likes my hair right now.
Laura: Yeah, your hair is lovely now, but you had such dark hair back then no one would believe you had that.
HAVE EITHER OF YOU EVER HAD A BAD HAIR DAY?
Laura: I mean, I went through school not knowing that I had curly hair, and so it was just always a crazy, weird mess that I could never get right - I just didn’t know what to do with it. And then I met Larry when I was 20, and he diffused my hair on the first appointment. And I it was just like a revelation. I had no idea. And then I’ve worn it curly ever since.
Larry: I had a couple of shockers. One being our wedding day. It was like something out of The Good Life . It was like a throwback to the seventies. I had a flare pink suit on as well. I mean, it was shocking!
Laura: Yeah, mine was just bad from birth to 20.
Larry: I want clients to have that feeling of being at home. Our whole salon is all about that welcoming smile. “A social life for your hair” is what we started, and I think we always wanted to identify like barbershops where you get a group of people all chatting amongst each other, and that is the vibe that I want to run through our salons.
Larry: All our products get brought into the salon and the whole team trials them to see what they think. And it’s only when they come to us and go, “Wow this one’s amazing”, is when that product starts to get its moment.
Laura: I want the products to be brilliant. I want people to open it and love the smell, love the packaging and actually make a difference to your hair. It’s so important to me that you can trust in that it’s going to work. I also really tried to avoid plastic wherever we possibly could - and sometimes making those decisions is more expensive - but for me, I think about the fact that it might not get recycled, people might not put it in the recycling
bin, and then what’s going to happen? So for me, it’s about sustainability, looking beautiful and putting those two things together.
Larry: We always run through different names for the products with the team. A Social Life For Your Hair is our hero product and that is the ethos behind the salons. And so we both agreed that the first product should be named this. I came up with My Nanna’s Mousse. Because it has a distinctive scent of my Nan and it reminds me of that smell growing up.
Laura: And then we had Liquid Hairbrush. We came up with that because we had our daughter, Nancy, who was around six or seven at the time, and she would be out all day in the garden, climbing trees, she’d have twigs and bits in her hair and she’d never brush it. So then when I actually got her in the bath and I was trialling this formulation and I put this conditioner through and I was like, “Oh my God, it’s like a liquid hairbrush”, just what I needed.
Larry: And then Spoilt For Choice hair oil, came from Aniah. Aniah is a colourist who you can find in our South Kensington salon.
Larry: A Social Life For Your Hair.
Laura: Oh the curl cream. I’d be lost without the curl cream.
Larry: I’d take A Social Life For Your Hair. I use the clay mostly, but it would be my Wilson. I’d just talk to it. I’d just sit it there on the rock and he would give me a social life. It’s perfect.

SCOTT ADE’S
For years, our senior stylist Scott Ade, has been documenting special stories from our much-loved salon clients with what he calls #sofaseries on his Instagram. From the front man of indie band Two Door Cinema Club to renowned artists and interior stylists, you’ll always find a tale that encapsulates Scott’s time with his clients. We were lucky enough to have Scott share his most recent Sofa Series with us.
When you’re looking for a good read, you can find all his tales over on his Instagram @whosrobscott.

Born and raised in Islington at a time when it was far less gentrified, Frank Warren had to duck and dive a bit to get on. These days, he’s a household name and a Hall of Fame boxing promoter with an exceptional career spanning more than four decades.
He’s worked with legendary fighters such as Mike Tyson, Joe Calzaghe, Ricky Hatton, Prince Naseem Hamed, and more recently, Tyson Fury - the list goes on. He even promoted the velvet-voiced ‘Chairman of the Board’ Frank Sinatra at one point, just to keep things interesting!
He tells me the years working with Prince Naseem were the most exciting, and I can see why. Naz was one of the
reasons I became a boxing fan myself. Putting on some of the best boxing shows in the world’s most iconic venues has brought Frank and his fighters incredible highs - but he’s undoubtedly experienced some serious lows too, none worse, I suspect, than being shot in the late ’80s.
Away from boxing, Frank is a big family man and incredibly generous. A lifelong Arsenal supporter, he’s regularly invited me to his box at the Emirates and ringside for some unforgettable fights. But above all, he’s a huge music fan. Eclectic taste, but a soul man at heart - and about 90% of the messages we exchange are just song recommendations. The list of artists he’s seen live would tick off most people’s bucket lists.
As you’d imagine, he’s full of great stories. One of my favourites is about a night he was taken to a club in the Bronx by Don King, after a boxing show at Madison Square Garden. He was the only white guy in the club and got so enthralled by the music, he stood by the DJ all night writing down track names on a napkin - until Don suddenly told him they had to leave immediately to help Brother Ray, who was in big trouble downtown. “Who’s Brother Ray?” Frank asked. “Ray Charles. Now get in the limousine,” Don replied.
Always a pleasure, Frank. Until next time...
South Kensington is home to our very first salon and after 8 years our team have discovered all the best kept secrets steps away from Harrington Road.
Ease into your day at Tease where great coffee and all-natural ingredients come as standard. Known for its all-natural ethos and playful personality, Tease serves up excellent coffee, fresh juices, and guilt-free treats that don’t compromise on flavour. Whether you’re grabbing a quick flat white on-the-go or settling in for a slow morning with a smoothie and a good book, it’s a feel-good ritual worth repeating.
A quiet gem not far from South Kensington Station, Bute Street is a local favourite lined with independent cafés and global flavours. Whether you’re in the mood for zingy tacos from Quinta Mexican, a classic crêpe from Suzette, a steaming bowl of pho from Mamma Pho, or a perfectly crisp Neapolitan-style pizza from Pizzetta, there’s always something to tempt you. Pedestrianised and full of charm, it’s perfect for a relaxed lunch, a bit of people-watching, or a stroll after your salon appointments.
Right next door to our South Kensington salon, Urban Baristas is an Aussie-style café known for its laid-back vibe and seriously good coffee. Think flat whites, smashed avo, and brunch classics done just right - all served with a sunny Aussie smile. Whether you’re refuelling post-appointment or easing into the weekend, Urban hits the sweet spot between casual and considered.
If you’ve travelled to our salon from South Kensington tube station, you’ll have seen Viandas: a charming Spanish deli celebrated for its artisanal ham - and - cheese sandwiches made with highquality jamón Ibérico and crusty bread. They are their own manufacturers - handling everything from curing to baking - and so they provide an authentic taste of Spain right here in London. Perfect for a tasteful grab - and - go lunch or a light bite after your appointment, it’s deli counter elegance with genuine character.
Arguably London’s most stylish museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum is a rich archive of design, fashion, and culture. Whether you’re there for a blockbuster exhibition or simply wandering its marble halls, there’s something special about the way it blends old and new.

Held every Saturday behind Bute Street, the South Kensington Farmers’ Market is one of the city’s best-kept foodie secrets. With freshly baked sourdough to seasonal fruit and veg, you’ll find stallholders who know your name and ingredients that elevate even the simplest home-cooked meal.
Just a short stroll from our South Kensington salon, The Kensington Hotel is the picture of relaxed luxury. Georgian townhouses set the scene for this five-star stay, where you can indulge in velvet armchairs, warming fireplaces, and afternoon tea. A favourite for quiet escapes and special stays.

DON’T LEAVE GOOD HAIR AT HOME
Your Expert Guide to Fuss-Free, Gorgeous Travel Hair with Issey Cook
Whether it’s a sunny escape or a skiing break, caring for your hair while travelling can be a struggleeven for the best of us. So, we sat down with our expert stylist Issey Cook to answer all your questions and get the down low on everything you need to know about caring for your hair on-the-go.

I REALLY STRUGGLE TO PACK LIGHT WHEN I GO AWAY. PLEASE TELL ME WHAT PRODUCTS ARE BEST TO TAKE?
I get it – I’m a serial over-packer myself! But to keep it simple (and under the weight limit), I always recommend The Holiday Edit, which has two of my absolute go-tos: My Nanna’s Mousse for easy beachy texture and Spoilt For Choice Hair Oil to replenish your hair after a day of sun and sea.
The mousse is perfect for scrunching into damp hair for that effortlessly tousled look, while the oil works wonders to hydrate and smooth dry ends in the evening. I’d also say a great shampoo and hydrating conditioner are essentials – they’ll cleanse away salt, chlorine, and sun cream while keeping your hair soft and healthy. Larry King City Life Shampoo is brilliant for this as it’s formulated with zinc to remove buildup, while the Good Life Shampoo adds much-needed moisture.
HOW CAN I PROTECT MY HAIR FROM SUN DAMAGE, CHLORINE AND SALTY WATER WHEN I’M IN A HOT COUNTRY?
It’s so important to shield your hair from the harsh effects of sun, pool water, and sea salt. One of my top tips is to wet your hair before swimming – this acts like a barrier, stopping it from soaking up as much chlorine or salt water.
Also, consider a hair SPF if you’ll be out in the sun all day, or simply cover up with a stylish scarf or wide-brim hat – it protects your hair and adds a bit of chic to your beach look.
DO I NEED A SPECIAL SHAMPOO ON HOT HOLIDAYS?
Definitely! I swear by our City Life Shampoo when I’m travelling – it’s a deep-cleansing formula with zinc to remove all the nasties like salt, chlorine, and sunscreen that build up on your hair. If your hair tends to get dry or brittle, pair it with a hydrating option like our Good Life Shampoo to keep your hair soft and smooth. They make the perfect combo for healthy, holiday-ready hair.
WHICH PRODUCTS ARE BEST
Honestly, I’d skip the hotel hairdryer altogether – they rarely do your hair any favours. Instead, let your hair air dry for a more natural texture or try braiding it for heatless waves. Later, you can smooth a bit of Spoilt For Choice Hair Oil or A Social Life For Your Hair styling cream through the lengths to enhance any natural textures in your hair.
I ALWAYS BURN MY SCALP ON HOLIDAY! ANY TIPS FOR PREVENTING THIS?
Oh, I’ve been there! The easiest trick is to avoid a parting when you style your hair – just pull it all back or wear it up, so your scalp isn’t exposed to direct sun. It’s simple, but so effective.
SOS - HOW CAN I TAME MY SKI TRIP HAT HAIR!?
Your Flyaway Kit is a must-have for tackling hat and helmet hair after a day on the slopes. A quick dab of styling cream on your flyaway brush, and those pesky flyaways are gone in no time.
HOW DO I MAINTAIN A BOUNCY BLOW DRY IN HUMIDITY?
This one’s tricky – even the best blow dries can struggle in humidity. I like to use a bit of A Social Life For Your Hair styling cream after drying to add texture and definition. Keep it in your bag for touch-ups on humid nights when your hair needs a little extra love. I’m not a big fan of hairspray for this, as it can weigh hair down – a good styling cream keeps things light and bouncy.

When we started working on the campaign for Clean As A Whistle, our brand new scalp scrub, we knew it had to be more than just a shoot – it had to feel like us. That’s why Make Clean Choices came to life the way it did: with our team, our friends, and the extended Larry King London family right there in the thick of it. It was a true behind-the-scenes moment of what makes our brand tick – not just the products, but the people. We were lucky enough to have familiar faces like David Gandy, Christine Lampard, Dominic Cooper, and Johnny Palmeiro join us, all of whom have been friends of the brand since the very beginning. Their support means the world, and seeing everyone come together like that reminded me that what we’ve built really is something special. At the heart of it all, this campaign – just like everything we do – is rooted in our ethos: A Social Life For Your Hair. Even all these years later, that same energy is woven into every product we create, every shoot we do, and every experience we give.
So where did Clean As A Whistle come from? We didn’t just want to launch another product, we wanted to start a conversation about what healthy hair really means – about stripping things back, caring more, and making space for rituals that feel good, not just look good. The scalp is where it all begins. Great hair starts at the root, your scalp is your hair’s foundation. It deserves just as much care as the hair itself, yet for years it’s been overlooked. So, we created Clean As A Whistle – our little powerhouse of a scrub – to change that.
This isn’t just a cleanse, it’s a full reset. A way to refresh your roots, clear the buildup, and stimulate your scalp so your hair has the best possible environment to thrive. It’s gentle, effective, and feels like a proper treat – and if you’re anything like us, you’ll find yourself looking forward to it. But we

didn’t stop there. Once you’ve cleansed, your hair is primed to absorb all the goodness you give it next – and that’s where our Spoilt For Choice Hair Oil comes in. Used together, they’re our ultimate little duo: a clean slate followed by deep nourishment. You can even use our hair oil as a scalp oil prewash, too. That’s why we’ve bundled them into Love Thy Scalp – because this kind of care shouldn’t be complicated, but it should be intentional.
For us it’s always been about more than just hair. It’s about creating products with purpose and to reflect how we live. Our Make Clean Choices campaign, just like the scrub, came straight from the heart. It’s a love letter to where we’ve come from and where we’re going. A reminder that sometimes, the most powerful changes start at the root.

WHAT IS A COMMON HAIR MYTH?
I wish people stopped looking on the internet and only finding pictures of hair full of hair extensions to make it look so thick and heavy. Hair is beautiful in every kind of thickness, texture, and length. So often when we look online it gives us unrealistic expectations of hair.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE HAIR UP LOOK?
The Brigette Bardot Chignon. There’s so many ways to do it where you can slick areas down, make it really big, make it bridal, make it editorial. I also love slicked up hair dos like low buns. I have also had quite a lot of fun in the past doing catwalks where you can go completely crazy and add in hair extensions in all different shapes and colours.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT THE MARYLEBONE SALON?
The vibe! Everyone says it has the best vibe in here. It’s got the most beautiful decor, the most incredibly talented team, and I just love coming into work everyday.

WHERE DO YOU FIND YOUR INSPIRATION?
I find inspiration everywhere it’s not limited to one place. It could be the colours and textures in a restaurant, the lines and shapes notice in a collection at a gallery, or even the way someone styles themselves on the train. I love observing details in everyday life and translating them into hair. Inspiration is all around if you keep your eyes open to it.
WHAT IS YOUR SIGNATURE SERVICE?
I love the artistry that comes with short hair whether it’s creating a sleek pixie or bob for women, or delivering a clean, tailored cut for men. Short styles are bold, versatile, and instantly transform a look. I focus on tailoring each cut to highlight my client’s features and lifestyle, making sure it feels effortless and personal. Short hair, for men and women alike, has this amazing ability to boost confidence and make a strong statement.
WHO WOULD BE YOUR DREAM CLIENT?
I don’t have one specific dream client my dream is anyone who’s open to trusting me with their look. I love working with people who are excited to try something new, whether it’s a fresh short cut or a subtle refresh. For me, the ideal client is less about who they are and more about the connection we create and the confidence they leave with.
CLIENT LOVE
Luca always does a fantastic job with my hair and listens to what I want and ensures to personalise it to my own hair and face shape. Ensuring that I am happy with my haircut is always is top priority.

I would say my hair specialty is creating something that’s really bespoke for the client. I love working with shorter styles like pixies, bobs, and fringes but I’m also partial to a big, bouncy, sexy, blow dry.

- STEVE BRAITHWAITE

BY LARRY KING & LILLI BRIDGER

Larry: Our Bibliothèque Fringe offers a very soft, girlnext-door vibe. It really suits a bob giving the illusion of volume to fine hair. This fringe gently frames the face while leaving the forehead mostly uncovered, seamlessly blending into the sides of the hair. It’s a super easy cut that is effortlessly versatile, allowing you to wear it either as a fringe or swept to the side. It’s a really minimalistic fringe. I think it also suits adding little clips to style it. Think of Margot from the Royal Tenenbaums!
Lilli: This is one of those understated yet elegant fringes that truly elevates a classic bob. The fringe sweeps softly across the cheekbones, blending into the corners of the rounded cut. It creates face-framing layers without ever feeling heavy or over-styled. It’s ideal for anyone who wants to experiment with a fringe without committing to a full-on blunt or structured look.

@lillibridgerrr
Larry: The Sylvie is a really soft and gentle fringe. This is perfect for someone wanting to deep dive into their first fringe. The idea here is about adding different lengths to it, rounding it into the rest of the haircut. By cutting shorter pieces, it softly frames the forehead. This fringe is very 80/90s inspired. You can enhance its volume by adding products, although its varying lengths naturally provide loads of texture and volume.
Lilli: The Sylvie is a great entry point into the world of fringes. Its softness lies in the variation - pieces cut to different lengths that round gently across the forehead and melt into the rest of the haircut. There’s something nostalgic about it, with clear influences from late ‘80s and early ‘90s editorial hair, yet it feels modern when paired with shaggy layers or textured bobs.
Larry: The Petite Fringe is an ideal option for those who have a high forehead and either a pixie or a heartshaped face. This style involves short cutting into the hair on the sides to add texture. It is very French, and for me, it’s a really beautiful, chic fringe.
Lilli: This fringe is bold - a wide, blunt cut that makes a statement. Sitting above the brows, it gives the face instant definition. The width across the forehead creates the illusion of more space, which can beautifully balance out more delicate features or petite face shapes. It’s the kind of fringe that feels both nostalgic and fashion-forward.
Larry: The Joan pushes the boundaries when it comes to having a fringe. This micro fringe sits above the eyebrows rounding the corners up into the rest of the hair. This gives it a very edgy shape to the hair opening up the temples and eyebrows, accentuating the widest part of your head creating a bold, confident statement. This is named after the Joan of Arc. love it, I think this is really on trend, it’s very rock and roll and really compliments people with dark hair.
Lilli: This is not a fringe for the faint-hearted. The Joan is cropped and graphic, cutting just above the brows and arching upwards at the sides. It creates a bold shape that frames the upper part of the face, showcasing the eyes and temples. It’s striking and sculptural - more like a statement accessory than a haircut.
Larry: The Amour fringe is all about softening up a grown-out fringe, offering you optimum versatility. It is really soft, bendable and moveable so can adapt to various styles. This fringe sits on your cheekbones and/or chin length framing your face when in an updo and when it’s down. Not only does it add volume and thickness around the face, but it also lends a touch of elegance to any look. Our Amour Fringe is one of the most versatile and most current, it has been on trend for the last 5-10 years.

Lilli: The Amour fringe is is the kind of fringe that evolves with your style. Cut to skim the cheekbones or graze the jawline, it creates gentle movement and volume around the face, whether your hair is up or down. It’s the ultimate “cool-girl” fringe: not too done, never too heavy, and completely wearable.

Check out L illi’s fringe tutorial

Larry: With the Lolita Leon, we are taking full inspiration from iconic figures like Patricia Arquette back in the True Romance Era and Natalie Portman in Leon. This micro fringe sits above the eyebrows - it’s very thick, textured and is cut uneven offering a lot of versatility. You can scrunch into the fringe to enhance texture making it ideal for those with long or short hair and wanting to add some dimension. This fringe is widening, unlike the Joan which narrows your face shape. You may want to add different lengths to add dimension and soften up the look. For me love the way that this fringe curves into the sides giving it that sixties feel but with a modern twist.
Lilli: This eyebrow-skimming cut isn’t blow-dried with a round brush - instead, it’s set in place with a crease clip and then gently diffused dry.
Larry: For me, The Celine is the ultimate summer fringe that gives loads of texture to beachy waved hair, reminiscent of California surf girls. It gives your hair that effortless, carefree look. This fringe frames the face whilst seamlessly blending into the sides, adding loads of texture that flows through the entire haircut. Its undone chic aesthetic is reminiscent of effortless French style so that’s why we named it The Celine.

Lilli: This is the fringe for those who want low effort with high style. It’s cut into a soft V shape which helps it grow out beautifully, keeping it light and airy even as it gets longer. The Celine is best styled with your hands - no round brushes for that wind-blown look. It sits lightly over the forehead and gently hugs the sides of the face, working perfectly with natural waves or tousled lengths.
To get the best out of your fringe we recommend using Larry King Volumizing Hair Mist or My Nanna’s Mousse on damp hair before drying. This is going to give your hair the grip it needs to hold throughout the day as well as add texture and maintain the volume you’re looking for.
Depending on the shape and texture of your fringe, there are a few ways you can approach drying it. You could use your round brush and Dyson Supersonic hairdryer, for volume and a more polished finish. Or try using your hands and scrunching in texture whilst using the styling nozzle on your dryer to create the shapes you want. Or try adding a crease clip to set the shape of your fringe and gently diffuse it into place. We like to finish by adding a little bit of A Social Life for Your Hair to all these fringes.
Fringe Theory is simple: the right fringe changes everything - not just how you look but how you feel. Whether it’s full and blunt, soft and wispy, maximal, micro or barely there - a bespoke fringe can frame your features in new ways, highlight your eyes, balance bone structure, and refresh your identity.

WHAT IS GREY BLENDING?
Grey blending is a modern, low-maintenance colour technique that works with your greys by integrating them with your natural base colour. Using soft highlights or lowlights placed with precision, it enhances dimension, softens contrast, and creates a seamless, super chic look tailored to you.
WHO IS IT FOR?
It’s for anyone who is sick of a high maintenance hair colour and feels that the grey hair is not the problem, it’s the roots that are. So, they are ready to embrace their greys, but in the coolest way possible.
WHAT HAPPENS IN YOUR GREYBLENDING PROCESS?
It’s a journey! The first consultation is to find out how you feel about your grey hair, then we do a process that can be anything from one to multiple appointments to create the vision. You end up with a low maintenance, naturally flattering, colour that you’ll genuinely love!

My Mum was a hairdresser, so I grew up in hair salons and have been around them my entire life. And I’ve been working here in London for the last five years.

Over the past 15 years, I’ve been lucky enough to get to know John Ryley while cutting his hair. Until 2023, John held the esteemed position of Head of Sky News for an incredible 17 years, making him one of the most senior and long-standing figures in British broadcast journalism. Unusually, he’s worked for all three of the UK’s major news broadcasters - BBC, ITN, and Sky News consistently earning international Emmy and BAFTA awards for outstanding coverage of both domestic and global current affairs.
In 2023, John’s achievements were recognised with the prestigious award of an OBE for ‘Services to Journalism’ - an accolade that followed the Royal Television Society’s award for ‘Outstanding Contribution to Television
Journalism’ in 2021.
With a career dating back to the late 1980s, he has overseen some of the most defining news moments in modern history: wars, elections, and of course, the Covid-19 pandemic. But for me, it’s his account of the September 11 attacks that stays with me most describing the immense responsibility he felt deciding whether to broadcast live footage of people jumping to their certain death from the burning Twin Towers. It’s enough to give you chills.
Away from the newsroom, John is a proud father of three, a serious cyclist, and an avid cricket fan. And with a bit more time on his hands these days, I’m pleased to see him
travelling the world, pursuing the passions he’s long held dear.
I’ve cut John’s hair in the salon, the newsroom, hotel rooms, his home and even in a near pitch-black temporary shed in the Sky News car park as the country was heading into lockdown. Developing a friendship with a man who’s been at the forefront of so many cultural, political, and global turning points has been a real privilege - and a truly insightful, enjoyable learning experience.
Always a pleasure, John. Until next time…

L imited Edition at larrykinghair.com

Nothing says Britain like a bit of a drizzle. Rain is an homage to this: it captures the city’s signature skies and the natural rhythm of London days. It only made sense that our limited edition versions of the bestselling Flyaway Kit would pay tribute to the icons of our home. So we decided that each colourway is named after something uniquely and unmistakably British.
A deep, refined tone inspired by one of London’s most iconic streets. Regal, timeless, and unmistakably British - Regent brings depth, with a distinctly British feel.
Delicate, classic, and unmistakably British: Rose is our tribute to the timeless beauty of the English rose. Soft, romantic, and effortlessly fresh, Rose brings a flush of colour to your styling kit.
River channels the energy of the Thames with a calm, deep-blue tone. A tribute to London’s river, this shade reflects fluidity and the natural flow of the city’s heartbeat.

When Laura and I set out to open a salon we wrote down on paper how we hoped it would be. It said we wanted to create a space, where staff are happy, where they wake up never dreading work, where they feel appreciated, respected and a part of a family. We wanted clients to feel welcome, never intimidated, like they’d walked into our home and were welcome to stay all day. We called it “ A Social Life For Your Hai r.” - Larry King.
