Recognizing that the construction and domination of spaces is androcentric, abstract, and falsely universal, which has neutralized diverse experiences, this work aims to discuss how architecture can restore women’s place in society. In addition to analyzing current issues in the woman-city relationship, it proposes to observe the roots of this connection, expose the narrative of women in light of their history, space, and representation, as well as seek to understand the processes that led to their invisibility in urban space.
From this perspective, recognizing the lack of cultural facilities in Maringá and considering the potential for expression and social change that art carries, the project proposes the design of a public cultural complex. This focus is symbolic not only for breaking the paradigm that the domestic environment is natural for women but also for inserting this debate into the heart of urban life.
To implement it, the project aims at the city center: the monumental axis, the heart of the city due to its historical symbolism, diversity of uses, flows, and visibility. The proposal is located within the block’s interstice. It looks to the past and plans for the future, associating new spaces with existing ones, reconciling the city’s memory with necessary and urgent changes. Through the interconnection of urban and cultural activities, the project seeks to provide greater visibility to women and represents a memorial to female memory.”

1// Cultural Center
The proposed building is a Cultural Center containing exhibition halls, focusing on actions, exhibitions, and discussions in gender museology.
The building is located on a 31x40m lot, currently occupied by a bank branch—which could be relocated to another currently underutilized unit. The decision is justified by the lot’s visibility on a high-traffic commercial street, which enhances visibility for the building and the topics it addresses.
Utilizing transparency, the building serves as a scenic vehicle and develops a close relationship with urban activity, inviting passersby to engage in its intended reflections. The ground floor is proposed to be open and barrier-free, facilitating fluidity and drawing visitors into the block. Ascending through the building, escalators from the ground floor lead occupants to an elevated plaza. This plaza not only serves as a hub for various
activities but also offers panoramic views of the city and serves as a meeting and exchange space. The plaza includes exhibition space, a café, reception area, and a panoramic elevator to upper floors. Above the elevated plaza, workshops for body arts, sculpture, and painting are located, opening onto the plaza and the city. On the upper floor, the auditorium and foyer are situated, both with unobstructed views of the city. The gallery block stands apart from the main volume, visually distinct with an atrium illuminating the enclosed structure to control lighting and visually connect the three levels, including segmented and open spaces for larger exhibitions.
Descending from the elevated plaza, the library is accessed, featuring doubleheight ceilings and two suspended mezzanines for more private areas. Above this floor, the administrative area of the building includes offices, administration, and technical archives.

Residential Building - Adaptive Reuse
Through the adaptive reuse of an obsolete hotel, a residence for artists is established within the complex to support artists attracted to the cultural center. The place serves as temporary housing for guests, fostering meetings and exchanges.
On the ground floor of the building, fluidity of space and the use of active facades are prioritized. A restaurantbar is proposed, which opens onto the square by dissolving the property boundaries and also has access from the streets, besides the entrance hall to the residences, art shops are implemented to showcase local artistic production
On the first floor, rigid environments are eliminated to accommodate flexible studios that can function as workshops or exhibition rooms adaptable to the artists’ needs. Additionally, a open arena theater is installed, extending up to the second floor by breaking part of the slab.
On the second floor, the leisure area is remodeled to become a public space featuring a café and a sun terrace, serving as an observation deck for the entire complex.
From the third to the seventh floor, 31 residential units are designed to meet the needs of artists from different fields - writers, musicians, painters, sculptors, etc. - accommodating both individual artists and groups or families. This is achieved through 18 distinct typologies of studio apartments enabled by reconfiguring spaces through the removal of walls and slabs.
The multifunctionality and the relationship that the building establishes with both the surroundings and the block’s interstice ensure the complex is occupied at different times of the day, inviting diverse audiences to experience reflections on the theme of women, art, and the city.

The project is designed as a public infrastructure that fosters community engagement and cultural exchange. Inspired by the inclusive principles of the NGO Teach on the Beach, the design replaces the traditional inner courtyard with a large communal square extending from the main street, serving as a central hub for interaction between residents, teachers, and volunteers.
A key feature is the integration of nature, with existing palm trees creating shaded gardens and communal spaces, enhancing aesthetics and connection with the environment.
Sustainability is central, with
materials like rammed earth, compressed earth blocks, and wood chosen for their environmental value. Passive design strategies maximize natural ventilation and daylight, reducing energy use, while rainwater harvesting supports resource efficiency.
The layout balances communal and private spaces, with classrooms, workrooms, and a summer cottage on the west side of the square, complemented by open kitchens and dining areas that encourage social interaction. The design creates a vibrant space for learning and cultural exchange, rooted in sustainability.

5// Fiocruz Covid-19 Memorial
2024
National Architecture Competition, Promoted by the Architects Institute of Rio de Janeiro
Designed by: Larissa Moldo and José Pedro Raccanello.
My Role: Creative concept, Techinical drawings, Images and Renderings, Post-porduction.
The Covid-19 Memorial at Fiocruz in Manguinhos is more than just a space of mourning and tribute; it is a reflective and participatory environment. Integrated into the environmental preservation zone, the memorial respects the region’s geographical characteristics and enhances the existing natural environment.
The architecture chosen is contextual, using wood in harmony with local historical and cultural heritage. The structure is designed to blend into the landscape, respecting and valuing the surrounding architectural and natural elements.
The memorial experience begins at the Memory Square, an elevated
area connecting the Reception Center to the memorial, offering panoramic views of the natural landscape. From there, visitors are guided along a “Trail of Time,” a linear-radial structure that tells the story of the pandemic, from mourning to hope, integrating with the surrounding landscaping.
The landscaping project focuses on regenerating the Atlantic Forest, using native species to strengthen local ecosystems and promote biodiversity. The memorial structure is lightweight and sustainable, elevated from the ground to minimize environmental impact and respect the area’s archaeological potential.
