What Programs Can Help Students Study Internationally If you are looking for study abroad scholarships, the best scholarship is often one that will cover all or most of your tuition. However, if you don’t get one of these golden tickets, there are still plenty of other options to help fund your goal of studying somewhere in the world. Here are five different types of study abroad scholarships.

CRITICAL LANGUAGE SCHOLARSHIP The U.S. State Department sponsors the Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) to provide intensive language instruction and structured cultural enrichment experiences for American undergraduate students in 14 critical languages, including Arabic, Azerbaijani, Chinese, Hindi-Urdu, Korean, Persian/Farsi, Punjabi, Russian and Turkish.

GENERATION GOOGLE SCHOLARSHIP This scholarship is for U.S. students of Hispanic Heritage who are interested in computer science and, specifically, working at Google! Google will pay you to go to college! And, if that isn’t enough, they’ll help pay for your studies. This scholarship is available for both current juniors and seniors studying computer science or computer engineering.

FULBRIGHT SCHOLARSHIP The Fulbright Program provides U.S. students the opportunity to live and study in other countries while fostering mutual understanding between Americans and citizens of other countries. The Fulbright Program awards approximately 800 grants annually for U.S. students to study abroad in more than 155 nations around the world.

JAPANESE GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP (MEXT) The Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho) awards scholarships to international students to study in Japan. MEXT is a scholarship for those who want to conduct research and studies about public administration, economic matters, and social science in Japan. This scholarship award grants either as a Research Fellow or as a Student Researcher.

ASIA EXCHANGE SCHOLARSHIP The Asia Exchange Scholarship is for U.S. students of Asian Heritage who are interested in studying abroad in one of 17 different Asian countries, including China, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Mongolia. The amount of funding varies by country and program, but grants range from $1,000 to approximately $5,000.

HOLLAND SCHOLARSHIP The Dutch Government offers scholarships for international students to study at universities, vocational schools, or colleges in the Netherlands. This scholarship is for those who are interested in studying Architecture, Design, Urban Planning, Industrial Design, and Landscape Architecture. Grants range from $3,000 to $17,000 per academic year, depending on skills and country of origin.
